The animation looks nice at least, is it Studio Mir?

If you didn't have DRAGON AGE in the title, there's nothing in that trailer that I would have pegged to the property. DA may "only" have three games, but the amount of lore and aesthetic is pretty deep. . .and none of that I got from that trailer.

Why are characters in this Western animation artstyle always looking like they're constipated?
They can't stop frowning.

Well they have the most important thing right, which is to have a very diverse cast.

Everything else can be crap because they already won all the critic points.

I have not played this series, but Dragon Age fans here, is the lore that good? I would have expected Mass Effect to be first for one of these.

It's not bad, but nothing special. As basic a fantasy lore as you can get with a dose of racism sprinkled on top.
Ah, so easily digestible. How would you compare it's usage of lore to something like Warcraft or Elder Scrolls then? I'm more familiar with those two.

Nothing close to these. Think of it more like a discount version of lord of the rings without all the depth.

To be fair, there are some quite interesting parts especially ragarding mages/demons, but you can probably learn all you need to know about the lore watching a 10-15 minute fan video.

I'm just going to continue to pretend that only the first game and its expansion (Awakening) exists and everything else is just some fever dream nightmare.

The series seems to disregard its own lore willy nilly. They can't even keep the same tone as the first game (and judging by the writers, it seems like they don't want to).
