When it comes to Piccolo, even better than the American or Japanese voice, is this guy.
I love this guy's videos. Funniest DBZ stuff for me. The idea of making all the Namek people black was a great idea. Dude is also really good with doing the other english voices, his Cell voice sounds exactly like the real one.

Pfft. The Japanese score was classic.

So what's this show up to now... I only watched the first few episodes and decided it wasn't for me.

Latest episode to air in Japan was 63, which is right when #20 is going to his lab to activate #17 and #18.

Where the hell is episode 64? Are they taking a break or something this week?
The schedule suddenly decided to get stupid. There's only two new episodes a week til at least August.

Edit: Oh, are you talking about Japan? Well, the schedule sucks in the US.

How are they going to fit the entire Cell and Buu sagas into 37 episodes? Surprised the Namek saga took so long.

It's been recently confirmed that episodes 55-98 will fall under the "Artificial Humans and Cell arc", meaning Majin Buu stuff starts with 99. I'm pretty sure that 100 episode number was just a placeholder :lol

Delete the Buu saga.

You are a visionary.

If only we could. :( Buu saga shouldn't have been Z, should've been something else. To me, Z was always about Gohan. From his birth to his final unleashing, I always thought it was centered around his story arc. Buu saga shat on that. :/

NOOOOO

They really should take Kagari's advice.

It was supposed to be exactly that. Originally Goku's part in the series was supposed to end at the conclusion of the Cell Games or something... I don't remember exactly, but fans complained and so Toriyama ended up focusing on him again :/ damnit.

I'm kinda glad Toriyama said enough with the Buu saga and didn't do GT. Then that crap might be in Z too. :/ It might have ended up being slightly better crap than what we got, but still.

Vegeta mustache NOOOO

So after watching the most recent episode of Kai I am now going through the rest of DBZ.

I'm tired of waiting for the next great ep, soz. I love DBZ. Marathon time! No more Kai for me.

Good luck, I don't think I could do it again without Kai's pacing. Although yeah, Kai still isn't moving as fast as I'd like. :)

I still can't get over how bad GT was.

Like, why was the animation so shitty? GT was comparatively more modern than Z and was coming off the huge success that that show was. There's really no reason the show's animation budget couldn't have been better than what it was.

What is this GT you speak of. I know not what you mean.

<_<

GT was absurd. Had a lot of stuff pulled out of nowhere like those Shenron dragons. Kami/God should have been able to stop it since it was their creation and Shenron is weak as fuck. King Piccolo killed Shenron in Dragonball there should be no way it could spawn others far more powerful then the base Shenron.

So was watching some more episodes yesterday and noticed they switched up some of the ginyu force VAs. I hate jeice's new voice and I really dislike they kept the Australian accent.

Love the song that plays when the ginyu force arrives though.

As lacklustre as GT was, I have to give it credit for actually returning to what Dragonball was meant to be about - hunting for Dragonballs and discovering awe-inspiring new wonders along the way. Personally, I dislike any of Z past Frieza, and even that over-long bullshit was grating on my nerves. Also, GT has an awesome opening song. Sadly, that's the best thing about the series as a whole.

Still waiting on if the Dragon Boxes for the original Dragonball are getting a US release. That's all I really want.

I have to say after rewatching this, the Saiyan arc was much better and more consistently animated than the Namek arc by far. Remembering back to the original as well, it's just so bizarre how they wasted their animation budgets. You'd have high quality animation in random spots like the environment reshaping or small sections of a battle or sometimes full filler episodes like the one where Krillin etc. stumble on the invisible space ship, but then you get an episode like where Goku first fights as a Super Saiyan that is shipped off to the worst animation team?

The Cell Saga suffered this as well.. So weird considering they must have been making bucket loads of cash too at the time

There was like... 3 or 4 different animation styles that went on through all the episodes. One of them was fairly bad.

I'm rewatching Z with my Dragon Box, and the horrible animation is killing me. The great majority of the episodes of the Goku vs. Freeza fight look like absolute shit. Comparing it to the manga, you would think the animators weren't even using it as a base. It's that atrocious. They can't draw Freeza for SHIT.

Then there will be random scenes, sandwich'd between the crap, that perfectly look like Toriyama's art:

(and Kanzentai only chooses the best looking caps :lol Try watching a full episode of this shit!)

The great pacing of DB Kai really makes up for the flaws though. It's a cheap money maker and has definitely recaptured my interest whereas I never would've had the patience for the full thing again.

Hopefully when One Piece is done they do something similar

Thank goodness we don't have to deal with the Garlic Jr saga again. Geez.

Also, GT doesn't exist you idiots, just like Indy 4 and the SW prequels. It's all just a really bad dream we all had.

Well, I did a bit of research. From what I found, there are not many animators that are able to effectively portray Toriyama's style. Most not only can't capture his style, but also can't draw for shit (One Piece has examples of people that don't draw Oda's style [Tate] but the show doesn't suffer. DBZ ain't so lucky).

Some great examples I've found include Maeda Minoru and Kuda Kazuya. Go ahead, look up these names on the Kanzentai DBZ episode guide, and be instantly reminded of your favourite scenes of the series.

Yes, we all love the driving school filler because it had great animation! :lol

Can someone tell me if that is the real DBZ Kai?

I thought Gohan and Frieza's VA's were changed yet this sounds like it's the same VA's as the originals. Though the sound effects, music, and general "intensity" of this clip is 100x more than the originals. All I have to say is WOW! Is this how all of Kai is?

No that's the audio of the original FUNi dub placed over the BGM of Kai.

The Japanese Kai version though right? Because English is still in the mid-Frieza episodes.

And the sound effects from this are all Kai (like the thunder cracking sound when his hair quickly shifts to yellow than back to black)?

English is still so far away from that. Goku is still fighting Ginyu.

It's pretty amazing. When I first heard about the whole idea of Kai, I thought it was a nice gesture but 10 years too late. Yet, I'm surprised to find myself actually tuning in and following the show pretty damn closely. It's just amazing how much infinitely more tolerable it is. Dare I say, even...enjoyble? Not just because they cut out most of the bullshit, but the dialogue is SOOOOOOOOOO much better. None of this "mondo kool!" or "KRILLIN'S IN DA HOUUUUUUUSE!" or any of that crap. The music, while it's still too much like the 80s kung fu movie shit that was in the original Japanese dub, but it's tolerable.

It's a shame this version wasn't available back when DBZ had its first run on CN.

It should have ended when Toriyama really wanted it to* with Goku dead and Gohan protector of the Earth.

*Some say he wanted to end it after Frieza but I don't buy that.

I'm a bit late on this, but Gohan is the absolute worst part of Z. Just a terrible character through and through. In fact, if you were to take Gohan out of Z, it would be instantly better. For a kid who was supposed to be so smart, he sure was a fucking whiny dumb ass.

Take Gohan out and everything improved. Piccolo and Kuririn would become better characters who would have to be used more often. No Gohan vs. bad guy fights where we waste time seeing this supposedly smart kid become a moron relying on brute force. Chi Chi wouldn't have become such a bitch. Toriyama would have ended the series either after Freeza with Goku fulfilling his destiny (this is the most logical point of closure because it ends the only loose thread about Goku's origin and his people) or after Cell by making the ultimate sacrifice.

In closing, fuck Gohan.

Andrex said:
In closing, fuck your opinion. :P

If not liking shitty characters makes me wrong, I don't want to be right. :D

Know what would have saved Gohan? Instead of killing Cell and saving the world when he turns SSJ2, he killed Cell and turned into fucking Broly and destroyed the world because by that point, he would be insane.
