Waiting for the dub. Hope it doesn't take too long to come over.
I'm cool with that, or with alternate Mr. Satan being crazy-powerful and the main villain of an arc.I hope there's an arc where Mr. Satan accidentally gets sent to another universe, and when they find him it turns out that it's a universe so weak that he's genuinely the strongest person there.
Oh so the Series starts with filler (the movies) already? And I thought without Manga it would be filler-free

I think they will recton the end of Z in this series and act like nothing happened which I don't mind the end of Z was mehThis is what bothers me about Super and the new movies, it makes the end of z non canon or the contrary, why would Goku be excited about fighting with a scrub tier like Uub when he has Vegeta, Wihs and Beerus.

Uub died as he returned to his home village.
Havent got a problem with retconning Uub if you ask me...
Oh man the series is really just the movies as episodes? Dis-a-ppointing.
Unless I'm missing something?
Here's the full translation (may be worth putting in the OP as a series synopsis):New Message from Toriyama,
A story in the universe next door? Gigantic "Super Dragon Balls"? The past two movies made into "arcs"?!?!

Get HYPE!
Dragon Ball Super is a complete continuation of the Majin Buu story arc. Its got a bit of post-battle aftermath, continues with the Battle of Gods arc where the God of Destruction Beerus appears and the Revival of F' arc where Freeza comes back to life, and then, Ive written a strange new story where they finally depart from this universe. Theyre fighting against their neighbors, Universe 6! Theyll yell at me if I give away too many spoilers, so Ill keep the rest a secret, but theyre chasing after giant Super Dragon Balls; I think things will unfold in a bright and simple way, that will be really fun and exciting!
Since its another universe, loads of new characters will turn up. Ill do my best to draw the tons of character designs necessary, so Im looking forward to this too.
You know, it suddenly occurs to me that somewhere along the line the Dragon Ball anime has become quite a huge story. Since Im the guy who drew the thing, its a bit weird for me to say this, but when I first started out I never dreamed it would have a universe as a setting (laughs). Dont worry though, its still going to be the same sort of easy-to-understand content as always. Please be sure to watch Dragon Ball Super on TV!
The movies aren't filler... They are completely canon.
Yes but do we actually have any idea how many episodes it'll be? It's unlikely they'll be about thirty episodes a piece, isn't it? It'll probably be rather brief and just fill in a few gaps, add some new moments.I know they are Canon. But i consider it Filler to retell the Stories of two recent Movies.
I wanted to watch DBS because i wante to see new Adventures from Goku & co., not because i wanted to see again what happend lately.
Guess I should finally get around to watching that Battle of Gods Blu-Ray.
NEW DB WOOOOOO
They really should skip most of RoF, aside from maybe Goku and Vegeta's training. Freeza's return and defeat seems completely irrelevant in the end.

So when Dragon Ball finally gets a new anime series they're going to retell stories that have already been told? It just feels like such a gigantic waste. I thought the success of the two recent movies was a huge reason Dragon Ball Super came to be and now they're retelling the same movies?
It just completely boggles the mind as to why they do this. So now we have to sit trough two story arcs to finally get some completely new material.
And it wouldn't surprise me if the series fails to catch on because of this. I know my desire to watch it has dropped like a rock now.
So sad![]()
I'm guessing they are doing it because not everybody watched the new movies and they want to make sure that everybody is caught up to speed. So when Dragon Ball finally gets a new anime series they're going to retell stories that have already been told? It's Dragon Ball, the movies will probably take up 100 episodes.
They're only covering those two movies for the very beginning and then moving on to a new plot...
And there was much rejoicingUub died as he returned to his home village.
That is purely speculation, we have no idea how long the two movie arcs will be.
Hopefully they will be short but I could also see them dragging them out to fill out the series, saving Toriyama from having to come up with too many new storylines.
YO! THIS IS ON THE TOEI STORE

Is it possible for me to order this being in the US? they have some hot shit there my lawd
The fact that they're already talking about what comes after Freeza makes it pretty fuckin clear that we aren't staying with those movies for too long. Hell, the series even gets its name from the Super Dragon Balls of Universe 6. BoG will be the Raditz equivalent and RF will be the training for the Saiyans equivalent.

The 5th, Saturday.
Yeah, I realised my mistake quickly but not quickly enough to amend the post before you replied. The 5th is Sunday.
The 5th is Sunday.
Sunday around 8 am.
Yeah, that doesn't sound cool.
And it seems this more or less confirms that the two latest movies are non canon now. We'll that was faster than I thought.
So essentially the show is gonna be a filler version of the movies....
So bummed.
The first two arcs are expanded retellings of the last two movies, and then they move into new territory when Goku & co. travel to Universe 6.
