It does kind of bother me how young he looks if he is 39, but it's better than something like this

future_son_trunks_by_big_bob22-d6lwzk7.png

I'm willing to bet that 17 years later thing meant 17 years from his first appearance, though

There's so much we don't know

Don't think he's 39. He's most likely around 28. Trunks is 22 when he defeats Cell. He was 18 when the Androids and Cell first showed up in the main timeline. 7 years passed after Cell, then 3-4 years later we're in present super.

11 year old Trunks + 17 years = 28 years old

6 years after cell was defeated assuming they meant 17 years after current year in super.

If they meant 17 years later to just mean the general time of Future Trunk, then he's either 22 or 23. Future Trunks was 17 years into the future at the time of Cell in the main timeline, which is too coincidental. He then defeated the androids, and 3 years later (22 years old) defeated Cell.

So we complained that Goku was always used to resolve all the fights, now we have Goku being the enemy, and I see few complaints.

It's getting pretty bad how much Goku is being abused.

Hopefully Goku Black gets defeated quickly and a real unique villain is revealed.

my uncle is toriyama's butler and he told me about the next arc

everyone thought cell was dead but actually there was one tiny tiny microscopic cell that survived the great battle between him and son gohan. cell slowly rejuvenated and has been training ever since to exact his revenge on son gohan. he even has a new form, perfectly perfect cell, which looks like this:

can goku save his son from this familiar threat?

I would just like to point out that Trunks needs 3 years to accumulate enough energy to time travel.

Therefore he is 20 when Cell first appears. And 24 when he kills him.

He was 23 when Cell killed him because he never went to HTC in that timeline.

Bulma in Super is 38. She looks as young as Trunks.

Trunks has Saiyan genes. It's like he has great genes AND Saiyan genes.

There is no reason to complain he looks young because it's normal.

He's 18 when he first came as he said he's 20 years from the future, which is 2 years before Trunks is born, and 3 years before the Androids show up.

Right?

Edit: give or take a couple of months which could affect his age.

Well.

First of all, you use the Trunks that killed Cell, as reference. But what about Bulma ? Future Bulma during that cell appearance looked nothing like she did 3 years prior.

But we've seen in the trailer that she is identical to her first appearance in the future.

Which means it can't be far off from the cell appearance because she doesn't look any older than EoZ Bulma. (I'd argue she looks younger)

If it were 17 years from Super's present, she sure as hell wouldn't look like that.

Toriyama designed GT Trunks, who is about Trunks' age when he kills Cell ... So that mature design is irrelevant when it comes to figuring out age, he changed his mind.

Ah yeah I forgot about Bulma's different hairstyle :/

By the way they changed her hair color, too!

DBZ level of good?

In my opinion, it is best to see Dragon Ball Super as its own entity and not Dragon Ball Z 2.0. The way the arc are set up, told, and executed are closer to Dragon Ball than Z. Also, only the Champa Saga is original to the series with the first two arcs being retellings (which I personally enjoyed, but it is a mix bag).

If there was a point to watch Super it is now since it will start a new story arc this coming Saturday and you can watched the entire Champa Saga in one go and make up your mind if it's worth watching. Also, even if you already watched the movies, the in-between episodes for Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' are a good watch.

Just keep an open mind and come to your own conclusion if the series is worth your time.

Meanwhile, 38 years old bulma :

Human with no saiyan genes.

So Trunks can be 45 for all I care you can't complain about how he looks young.

Mature enough.

It was preposterous to expect the big chin Trunks because that goes against anything Toriyama has designed for the past 20 years.

GT Trunks was the same age as big chin Trunks and he wasn't anything like that, so it was to be expected.

Maybe he has those earrings because he's some kind of evil Kai that can transform at will. Doesn't explain why he would take Goku's appearance though.

Maybe he's a sadist and is taking that form specifically when dealing with Trunks because Goku is Trunks' hero.

I like the more vivid Blue they use for Bulma and Trunks nowadays.

Part of the reason may be that Vegeta and Goku got their blue clothing removed to allow their SSB hair to show off more, so the main cast needed more vivid colors.

Gohan is crying in a ditch somewhere.

But he would have to change visually.....
I could buy it if Black is mostly in that black mist type form we see until he fuses with Goku, so then his body takes on a more humanoid form and takes on the traits of Gokus appearance.

Poor Gohan.

For me personally it was there with the Universe 6 arc even though it had more of a Dragon Ball feel to it, so more laidback with a fair amount of fighting in it.

The Future Trunks arc next week looks like it's about to get on a DBZ level of seriousness though. The preview alone has already set the tone to something much more different than we've seen so far.

Well it really does have a very dark vibe around it right now...

So some exciting news: I'll be interviewing the producer of Xenoverse 2 next week at E3. If you guys have any questions I can try and get them in.

Ohohoh ! Can you ask him about the destructible environment system ? Will it be the same or will it be improved to take advantage of new hardware ?

Mia's involvement is weirdly sweet and sad. Presumably her two friends must have died from the androids, or possibly from Black.

I'm wondering if they're going to
try and stop Black in the past or go to the future and stop him? I feel like the way they're setting this up, there should only be one Black.

But Trunks only got enough fuel to go back in time...only if present Bulma already got the fuel for timetravel they could go forward in time.

Hahahaha, somehow I completely forgot about Future Gohan...even though I consider myself a huge fan of Gohan in all versions ^^'

I did think about present Gohan, but the truth is Future Trunks really didn't have many significant interactions with him in the Androids Saga. Toriyama could have done so much more. Instead Future Trunks was all focused on his dad. And when he said goodbye to the group before returning to the future everyone was just thinking about Goku and his sacrifice...

Black could also assume Goku's form due to Future Bulma.

Gah, so much speculation!

I hope they go into the future. I want to see future Bulma interact with Goku.
