My favorite part of the Zamasu arc was the ending. It was so bleak which is unusual for Dragonball.

Also this part

No I'm not crying, you are

Remember when we were watching it live and the stream cut right before that scene? Good times.

On paper, it wasn't a bad ending, it just wasn't executed well. Trunks beating Zamasu was not convincing.

Zamasu offing everyone felt really sudden and they didn't sell that moment very well. I mean, Mai lost her shit, but in the resolution it was like "well, you guys can go to another timeline and hangout with yourselves", "okay bye".

That sad ending would've been a great reason for them to stick around.

I also have another nitpicks. Trunks learning the Mafuba didn't make a lick of sense to me. I though there was one too many time travel trips. Ending would've been a lot more devastating if Goku tried just a bit harder throughout the saga.

It was a good arc though. I'm always gonna be bother by the blue hair though.

Ain't that the truth.

Like doing what?

And I think Trunks beating Zamasu was convincing, outside of where the hell that Spirit Bomb came from. And Zamasu being deleted was supposed to sudden since that is how Zen'o's power works.

I'm not too sure since Super Saiyan 3 is called one of the coolest moments in Z. And I have no clue what "pilot-episode of a new shonen tv adaptation levels of ass-pullery" even means.

What does Super Saiyan 3 even have to do with anything? The Buu arc equivalent would be the entire arc, Gotenks being introduced, Mystic Gohan, and fucking Vegitto being all for nothing, just for the Genki Dama to be the thing that ended everything, which could have been done from the beginning and usually never works

Black arc was cool, but I feel like the ending could've used a couple more episodes, especially Vegito's fight and whatever the fuck Trunks' sword was.

I mean, none of us can really explain UI all that well right now, but the show sold it really well and we all bought it.

Whereas SS Rage/ Spirit Sword really is just ... like, I get it, but I don't get why it was suddenly stronger than Zamasu.

Trunks and Mai should have just stayed in "our" timeline. Goku+Gohan and Vegeta+FTrunks moments in the ToP would've been awesome.

Would also like a Gohan+FTrunks bromance and fusion.

What I love about Super Saiyan Sinner is I love the idea that Future Trunks just snaps when Zamasu and Black tell him that everything he did to help the Z warriors is the reason the people in his timeline are suffering now.

In a series where rage boosts usually come from deaths of a loved one, it felt refreshing to have a rage boost come from somewhere else.

This is the primary reason why I can never disliked Super Saiyan Rage. It's the best used of a rage boost since the original Super Saiyan. It wasn't just another, 'you killed/hurt my family, you bastard!", it was "Everything that has happened is your fault, you killed everyone!" and Trunks' reaction was horror before you told Zamasu and Black to screw themselves and transformed. You can just feel the self-loathing and righteous anger from Trunks.

Like Super Saiyan Rage it was a form that came out of nowhere. Heck, Super Saiyan Rage had a better explanation than Super Saiyan 3 since Super Saiyan 3 was, 'hey, that's a thing'. And the way you summed up the Buu Saga isn't correct, but whatever.

Goku forgetting the container. I think he had two big screwups similar to that.

"Let's bring Future Trunks back and have him barely interact with adult Gohan then disappear for good"
Someone should have been fired for this.

The Black/Zamasu arc ended pretty well, in a way that seemed fitting for Super.

I just wish that final episode had less Kitano in it...

Man that GT interview posted a few pages back is like a dumpster fire that burns brighter and hotter after each question/answer you read. Poor Pan >_<

As an aside, where is that V-Jump leak? :(

There was an entire episode where he hung out with Gohan and his family. What more did you want?

Super Saiyan Rage was never stronger than Merged Zamasu and Trunks overpowered Zamasu with with the Spirit Sword since Zamasu was falling apart thanks to his battle with Vegito Blue.

But that isn't Goku not trying hard enough. He also didn't forget the container. He left it in the time machine because he was trying to search for Trunks. When he was looking, Black suddenly appeared and blasted the time machine. That and he thought Vegeta grabbed it.

There were also the senzu, which was stupid on his part. As for the seal, that was both Roshi and Goku's fault since Roshi never gave Goku the seal and even worse, Roshi could have painted the seal on the jar.

If U6 gets erased, I'm particularly interested in the reaction Beerus will have towards Champa.
What if U6 wins and Champa wishes to bring back the erased universes? (Secretly he only cares about U7, as repayment for Beerus' U6 Earth wish in the first tournament arc, but won't admit it.)

I mean, Trunks did have almost a full episode with Gohan, and he realized Gohan wasn't a fighter anymore.

That episode wasn't perfect, but I did feel it captured Trunk's frustration and sadness pretty well.

I can't reconcile the fact this is an arc where like 8 universes are going to get erased and there is zero tension.

You certainly don't need tension to make Dragon Ball work, but I dislike the pretext of it here.

The manga of all things had a better interaction with them.

That wasn't even in the main story.

Also, Trunks barely interacted with Gohan in the Android/Cell Saga, so it's odd how fans are so burnt that he didn't have much interaction now. Especially when Trunks spent an entire episode with the guy.

I loved that episode. Here are the fans bitching about Gohan having a normal life and wished he would be more like Trunks, and here is Trunks who wants what Gohan have.

I mean, it's definitely there, it's just not something hanging over the characters heads in every episode like it should be.

Universe 9 getting erased was a good "shit just got real" moment. 10 was also emotional. Then you have Jiren being as big of a threat as he is, but in all of the episodes between those moments, yeah, I'm not feeling the tension either.

No you're right, Son Goku momentarily reaching yet another, in fact a third, Super Saiyan level, while dead, for a total of minutes, against the strongest villain in Dragon Ball Z, in an arc which would go on to introduce several characters and forms stronger than that, was the same thing as Future Trunks suddenly becoming stronger than Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku in the end in order to perform an attack stronger than one Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegitto was able to muster because...well, as they explain after the fact, it was because of his rage and inner righteousness! Same thing basically!

They can explain it after the fact all they like, it doesn't stop it from being on the same level of anime development as YuGiOh, worse even. That was a bad, out of nowhere introduction of SSJ3 , maybe. Still cool. But it was the introduction of the form, which would appear again throughout the arc. They were allowed to then explain it. It was a proper "reveal". If randomly Mr Satan went SSJ3 at the very end of the Buu Arc and beat Kid Buu by going ATATATATATATAT it would be a very different situation.

Or the Androids. Or Gohan.

Imagine a triple Masenko with Trunks, Piccolo and Gohan!

:(

Pairing him with the androids would've been kind of fucked up since Trunks clearly suffers from PTSD.

"Oh hey, we befriended those Androids that tortured your world for all 20 years of your life, wanna partner up with them?"

I remember when Toonami was airing the Namek saga, and everyone kept complaining how Vegeta trying to get immortality was dumb because Freeza could just torture him forever or remove his limbs or something.

Then we finally get a canon answer to that question in the Black Arc and it proved wishing for it makes you OP as fuck.

Trunks was never stronger than Merged Zamasu. Merged Zamasu's body was falling apart and he was weakened by Vegito Blue. Even then Super Saiyan Rage did nothing against Black and Black beat the crap out of Trunks.

And sorry, your secondary paragraph makes no sense to me.

Garlic Jr. is still stuck in a black hole somewhere or some shit. If Goku wasn't a dumb shit then Zamasu would have been sealed.

You can't say Gohan hasn't had some of the funniest stuff

I liked their filler episodes about the Saiyaman movie, but generally speaking, they're pretty boring. Pan is a nice addition though. What does he even do? He's an assistant, but then he's speaking at conferences and it's like what?

They still had Black to deal with regardless and we saw how effective the evil containment was in the TOP.
Yeah but Goku and Vegeta vs. Black would have been fine. Even if they didn't fight together, they wouldn't have Black and Zamasu constantly getting eachother's backs. One person to guard the bottle would have been fine.

The manga did do some things better like Zamasu burning the Senzu bag instead of Goku forgetting it, which is something I do hate in the anime. Goku doing the Evil Containment Wave, although Trunks learning the Evil Containment Wave from a video by Piccolo is so hilarious that I can't bring myself to hate it. That and the epic speech Trunks and Mai gave Zamasu. I also liked Zamasu having Kai techniques like healing, telekinesis, and such.

But overall, the manga version of the Future Trunks Saga....well let's just say I wouldn't have felt so highly of that saga if the anime was like the manga outside of the moments I listed.

Goku and Vegeta were trapped by Black's endless clones, so they weren't exactly fine just fighting Black.
