Completely agree, this arc have saved Super for a lot of people.

I'm just loving the interactions with Frieza, he went from my meh list to my top 5 characters of all time!

I thought the last battle was too short Zamasu needed a couple more episodes 😔 it ended like a Movie

Merged Zamasu didn't need couple more episodes, which was the major problem the Super manga had, it dragged the Merged Zamasu fight. At most, it needed one more episode to explain where the hell that Spirit Bomb came from.

I can't agree since using the standard format, we wouldn't have gotten stuff like Roshi taking out three people at once, Frost and Magetta nearly taking out Vegeta using Roshi's Evil Containment Wave, Frost vs. Roshi, a giant magical girl royal, U6 and U7 Saiyans fighting Pride Troopers, Hit and Goku tag team, ect.

=

Exactly, I think the Battle royale format did great with allowing certain weaker characters to shine. Plus this arc has the best dragonball opening :p

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but full frame of the official artwork perfect mobile wallpaper!

I disagree.

Black arc is still superior to me.

Well I liked the Future Trunks Saga better too, it is personal preference. If you loved the extended cast, you would like this arc better.

I personally feel the Future Trunks Saga is superior because despite the smaller cast, all the characters were used extremely well (especially the non-fighters like Future Mai and Bulma), we had an interesting story, and a villain who is both charming, evil, but think he's the good guy.

I think the battle royale format could have worked better if they had been more willing to have powerful warriors in other universes that didn't even get to face the main cast. So, rather than Jiren just sitting still and the Pride Troopers quickly eliminated, they could take a while to get to the main cast because they were facing another group before.

In the same way, it'd mean even before they got to Jiren we'd get episodes where the main cast would need to go all out to defeat opponents, avoiding the current issue of nothing feeling really threatening aside from Jiren.

Zamasu or Black didn't really do much for me after the mystery was revealed. Having Trunks back was great but it should have been treated as a bigger event rather than a self-contained backyard adventure.

My favorite part of the Zamasu arc was the ending. It was so bleak which is unusual for Dragonball.

Also this part

Part of the issue is that in order for the viewers to care about something like that they needed to have properly developed more than just U-6 and U-7.

It all comes down to the show not doing much to make us care about what happens.

Strange, was people mad at the ending of the Future Trunks Saga because people did care about what happened?

This is an odd statement since the Future Trunks Saga had more locations than this saga. I guess we got glimpses of the other universes, but for the most part we just had Earth and an arena.

Count me as part of the Tournament of Power > Black arc crowd.

Black felt like more Z(which isnt a bad thing) while ToP feels like substantial progression of the overarching post-Z plot that began with Battle of Gods.

I definitely would've taken shorter recruitment episodes in exchange for more scenes of the other universes. I like what we got, but they definitely could've shown more.

Zamasu arc started as the best in DB ever and ended as one of the worst. Vegitto pulling a buu arc. SSB Future Trunks Genki Dama Sword. Zeno literally just deleting the universe as a solution... Yeah, no thanks.

I thought they were mad because it kind of didn't explain anything and came out of nowhere after using Vegito for just an episode?

Nope. People were pissed because they wanted a happy ending for Trunks and didn't like how the entire future timeline just got wiped. The Dragon Ball Youtube community cried for weeks about how they 'ruined Future Trunks' and how they shouldn't have destroyed the timeline.

So people clearly cared and it was because it 'didn't explain anything'. For the record, the show did explained what happened, people just didn't liked it.

And to me, the ending was the best part of the saga. For the first time in Dragon Ball, we had an arc that had real consequences that wasn't reverse by the next saga and death (erasing in this case) meant something. If there was on criticism, it was that only Trunks and Mai seemed really affected by what happened.

Snark? Trunks wasn't a Super Saiyan Blue.

I'm talking about actual arcs, not just recruitment episodes. People like Kale and Caulifla, but I doubt anyone will really freak out if they get eliminated. Something like this needs every character to be developed, especially if you want to be able to focus on more than just the main cast and that takes time.

This whole thing would feel way more tense if it came after decent sized arcs featuring all of these characters. We needed way more time to connect with these characters to get the real "punch in the gut" reactions when they get eliminated.

Eliminate U6 please.

I say yes, but not because I dislike them. I think it would make for fantastic drama. Because first of all, Vegeta has the Saiyan race snatched away from him all over again. What sort of man does he become then? And who are all the U6 characters when they're at the doorstep of irreversible obliteration?

Future Trunks arc started amazing... Some episodes later they dropped the ball and it became a clusterfuck. Horrible writing.

I don't think the viewer would need to care about the other teams. Their function there would be to hype the antagonists and also make the protagonists struggle for real even before the final battles. For unknown teams facing U11/Jiren, for example, just make the U7 characters comment while watching from the distance with words like "That power was comparable to a Super Saiyan Blue, but Jiren crushed it like nothing!" and you'd hype Jiren even if we only got glimpses of him facing other fighters that the viewer has no reason to care about.

To be honest this arc never had a chance to surpass it. That's how much I fucking loved the Black arc.

At best they will tie.

Oh thats right my bad it was actually a new transformation that was as strong or stronger than SSB much better

But that was the best part. The heroes didn't win for once.

Universe 6 has nothing to worry about.

They've got the brilliant leadership of Champa and Vados. Vados has a calm dignified mind, and Champa has a fashionable cherubic face.

Oh.

Champa also has a vuvuzela too.

Not sure what people have against Super Saiyan Rage? Did people act this way with Super Saiyan 3?

But that was the best part. The heroes didn't win for once.

The Future Trunks Saga ending is a clear case of you either loved it or hate it with the passion of a thousand suns. There is almost no in-between.

I can't help but loved the ending because when I first saw it I thought, 'wow, they had the nerve to wiped out the future timeline and everyone in it except Trunks and Mai'. Bravo!

Besides Genkidama sword and not enough context for Trunks new form the Black arc was great. I also probably like it more than this one so far.

If this arc would start to actually handle characters like Gohan and 17 a bit better that could very well change for me though.

Trunks literally skipped the power levels of SS3 and SSG to somewhere about SSB level. A bit more context than him being angry would have been nice.

Godtube and the cat mitten are probably the peak of DBS so far though, either that or Pan + Piccolo

Its pilot-episode of a new shonen tv adaptation, heart of the cards, levels of ass-pullery. And all for nothing. Yes people have these same exact issues with the Buu arc. Having everything fail and then some random thing out of nowhere that has nothing to do with anything that was built up being the thing that saves everyone is not unpredictable, its just the worst kind of anime. See: All of Yu-Gi-Oh, Ash Ketchum's Gym Victories, Chimera Arc in HxH, and all of the worst parts of DBZ, especially the Buu arc. Theres probably more examples. Pulling random shit out of nowhere that is only "shocking" because its literally a made up thing dropped out of the sky by the author at the last moment is dumb.

I'm not too sure since Super Saiyan 3 is called one of the coolest moments in Z. And I have no clue what "pilot-episode of a new shonen tv adaptation levels of ass-pullery" even means.

Meh I actually liked the Black arc ending for being different and for once everything wasn't reset to normal with the Dragon Balls like every other arc.

I'm willing to overlook the Spirit Sword making no sense because Rule of Cool and this being Dragon Ball.

Snark? Trunks wasn't a Super Saiyan Blue.

On paper, it wasn't a bad ending, it just wasn't executed well. Trunks beating Zamasu was not convincing.

Zamasu offing everyone felt really sudden and they didn't sell that moment very well. I mean, Mai lost her shit, but in the resolution it was like "well, you guys can go to another timeline and hangout with yourselves", "okay bye".

That sad ending would've been a great reason for them to stick around.

I also have another nitpicks. Trunks learning the Mafuba didn't make a lick of sense to me. I though there was one too many time travel trips. Ending would've been a lot more devastating if Goku tried just a bit harder throughout the saga.

It was a good arc though. I'm always gonna be bother by the blue hair though.

The Dragon Ball motto ;D

Ain't that the truth.

Black arc was cool, but I feel like the ending could've used a couple more episodes, especially Vegito's fight and whatever the fuck Trunks' sword was.

What I love about Super Saiyan Sinner is I love the idea that Future Trunks just snaps when Zamasu and Black tell him that everything he did to help the Z warriors is the reason the people in his timeline are suffering now.

In a series where rage boosts usually come from deaths of a loved one, it felt refreshing to have a rage boost come from somewhere else.
