Are these new games or games that haven't came to the west?
Both. They are remakes of 7 and 8. The originals came over during the PS1/PS2 era but not these.
Are these new games or games that haven't came to the west?
Exactly.
Well fuck. SE remembered that we like DQ games?
Isn't Bravely Second still coming next year along with FF Explorers? That's going to be one hell of a loaded deck from Square-Enix which has usually turned it's nose up at doing much per year for Nintendo for quite awhile now.
Nintendo's publishing three out of four of those though.Isn't Bravely Second still coming next year along with FF Explorers? That's going to be one hell of a loaded deck from Square-Enix which has usually turned it's nose up at doing much per year for Nintendo for quite awhile now.
2016 is pretty clearly Square's attempt to recapture that year 2000 business, which had them releasing damn near a game every month.
Will definitely get both.
Will either require the new 3DS?
Who was that guy who made a thread saying the 3DS was left out to die.
DQ7 has 3D, DQ8 doesn't.Do these have no 3D or is that just DQ8?
The original? Yes, but this is a full scale remake that fixes a lot of the problems people had with the original.
Exactly.
What are some of the improvements in the 3DS DQ7 remake?
Of all the DQs out there, DQ7 was the one that was least interesting to me, due to stories I heard about its absurdly long length. Has it been tightened up in any way?

...also, no random encounters, so much quicker to get around when you don't want to grind.
Huh, damn. I can't remember which game it was, think it was DQVI where monsters are visible on the field, but they're almost unavoidable since the dungeon are quite narrow and they will come after you.Not exactly. Dungeon corridors are tight; you're not really going to be avoiding enemies as much as you might want to.
Then again, that's the case in lots of games with visible encounters, so maybe the illusion of freedom is enough for people.

The Direct footage showed that while Kiefer is still Kiefer in the new translation, Melvin is now Mervyn and Gabo is now Ruff. In case anybody cared.
I prayed for this! Thank you, S-E!!
To add to this, you can also change their names later if you don't like them.
Do you know if you can turn off the shard radar by the way? You played the Japanese version I'm assuming?
I forgot to add, physical copies of both yes
Thank SE for the games themselves but this is Nintendo actually as is often the case on handhelds, they're localizing and publishing.
As in every case where Nintendo has published a Dragon Quest game, Square Enix coordinates and outsources the translation, so they own it.

Does Gabo mean anything in particular in Japanese, or is this just the localization team going a little whacky? The Direct footage showed that while Kiefer is still Kiefer in the new translation, Melvin is now Mervyn and Gabo is now Ruff. In case anybody cared.
Another DQVIII thread another disappointed me that it's not for a sony device. Maybe during PSX... 3DS users enjoy, i'm happy for you.
