Most likely a CPU bottleneck. Why can't they lock 60 on consoles?

Nope, it's a patch for base PS5/Xbox S/X.I guess is this the "pro patch"? PS5 pro users can choose "graphics" and get 50-60fps? At least it is within PS5 VRR range.
PRO please give us miracle.
I have yet to open my DD2 new game lol
Only in the city with lots of NPCs. Outside, it's usually GPU-bound.I thought this was CPU constrained? If so why does lowering the rendering resolution change the frame rate so much?
I wonder if it'll hold to that 50 to 60 in towns too now. I may give this a go with the Pro...Only in the city with lots of NPCs. Outside, it's usually GPU-bouns.

For sure. Clearly needed more time. And asI think they also optimized the game for better performance.
Wonder? If you have a Pro pre-ordered or intend to get one soon, there's no question. We saw pre-release footage of how it runs in the city and I don't think it dipped below 50.I wonder if it'll hold to that 50 to 60 in towns too now. I may give this a go with the Pro...
But the frame rates in the official infographic look awful.
VRR tvs.Why can't they lock 60 on consoles?

The CPU limit posts are fucking hilarious.Cpu bottleneck bros sweating.

Capcom please don't optimise further for there sake.
A happy customer is not a good customer. Why can't developers optimise to hit a locked 30 or 60 fps on consoles and then add unlocked modes for TVs with VRR, like what Insomniac do with their games?
With the release of the latest October 17 patch, the developers spoke to Famitsu about the main cause behind the frame rate issues and how they went about fixing it.
"In Dragon's Dogma 2, CPU power is allocated to process the thoughts of each NPC as well as the effect on character physics. Therefore, in scenes where many NPCs appear at once, like in towns, the CPU load would get extremely high, which in some cases affected the frame rate. Since CPU was our bottleneck, GPU-related solutions like lowering the resolution had little effect on improving frame rate," the team explained.
Therefore, ever since the game's launch, the team has been "reworking how NPCs' thoughts are processed and making small tweaks, including changing the order in which processes are executed" in order to remedy the performance issues troubling players. The resulting reduced CPU load has allowed the game to run at an improved frame rate, between 50 and 60 FPS, on consoles and PC as of October 17.
The developers also mention that they are continuing to listen to feedback from both overseas and Japanese players, and will keep making future changes and adjustments to the game in order of priority.
I only see all this plethora of VRR unlocked modes in Sony first party. Is it budget? Is this something highly difficult to implement technically translating into a substantial increase of the budget? That would be the only reason not to do it. Or the extremely low number of VRR tvs in households which I think was around 5% on some PS statistics.50-60 fps may be borderline okay on PS5 for people with a VRR capable TV but what about those without? The game is going to stutter constantly.
Also 30-40 fps is outside of the PS5's VRR range of 48-60 Hz unless the game runs in a 120 Hz container and supports LFC. Again, not great if you don't own a TV that supports VRR.

Dude... smh.
The main problem with this game is that it falls flat after the 15-20h mark : too much redundancy and no difficulty scaling so once you get to a certain level (not even mid game) the challenge is pretty much absent.
DD2 needs a proper hard mode and a BBI style dungeon badly.
Dragons Dogma 2 actually runs in a 120hz container with LFC on both PS5 and Xbox when you tick the 120 mode. So the game is always covered by VRR on both consoles.I only see all this plethora of VRR unlocked modes in Sony first party. Is it budget?
