Dragons Dogma 2 is such a disappointment. Underwhelming doesn't even describe it.

It's a total piece of shit that couldn't siphon off any Elden Ring fans even though it had 3 months to put down some roots while people waited for Shadow of the Erdtree.

I hope the franchise is completely scrapped.

I'd go further. This game is a fucking insult. Forget the pathetic story. Forget the downgraded combat system. Forget the same recycled enemies. This game has no god damn content. Like, it doesn't go anywhere. You're essentially killing the same things at the end, as you were in the beginning. Capcom thought that just throwing in a few recycled enemies from DD1 is enough for an open world title. Like what??? Not sure if they were lazy, had zero vision on how the sequel is supposed to be, or what, but the game felt extremely repetitive, boring as fuck to explore (because there's nothing interesting that you ever encounter) and easy.

This is how i see them releasing the game. They built a nice map. Creating unique looking forts, dungeons, etc, you know, what you'd see in ER, was too difficult, so they replace them with brown caves that they stole the textures from RE5. Then, they made a couple of new enemies, recycled DS1 enemies, and threw them in small packs all over the map, and told themselves that'll be fun enough for the player to fight. Then, because they're super generous, and wanted everyone to feel good while exploring, they threw some brown chests where ever the fuck, and called it a day. Here, $70 title completed.

Pathetic release by Capcom. My most anticipated sequel in the last ten years, and this is what i got. gtfo.

Come on now. I think as an IP, Dragon's Dogma has huge potential. It's just that Capcom needs to be full behind it. They half-assed DD2 and then just left it out to die. That would at least explain why Itsuno bailed.

That sucks. I loved Dragons Dogma. A hidden gem for me. Played it when it was offered on PSN+ and I don't really play wrpgs, but loved that one.

Also was hyping it up, it released. And no one said anything else about it

What's even more enraging is that playing the first hours of the game, you realize there is a very solid fundation, which, if they actually built upon it, could have resulted in an excellent game.
But it seems that the dev studio somehow ran out of money or snorted it, delivering an half assed, unfinished game that not only fails to improve an already flawed first episode, but also fails in delivering half the content, especially the best parts (the dungeons).

Had fun with the first one, but DD2 was joyless mess. So many strange design decisions, such a dearth of narrative depth and the bloody thing can't hit a frame target to save its life. God knows what happened there. So much promise pissed directly up the wall.
