Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC |OT| Wolves hunt in 4K

I played a little on 360. Have there been convenience improvements made? I remember there being some extremely annoying design choices back then.

Did you play the vanilla version? Dark Arisen has fast travel now after you complete a few quests very early in the game.

A lot of convenience improvements. When you get to the main city you get an infinite fast travel stone, for example.

Anyone know why I can't change my control input to wireless controller? It just keeps going back to keyboard & mouse despite saying it's saving and it's giving me weird double/triple control stick inputs in menus.

I tried downloading a fresh ini file and that doesn't seem to have changed anything. Using a DS4 and was using it plain without DS4Windows last night, now it's acting up no matter how I try to use it.

Edit: InputMapper seems to have solved my issues, still not sure why I had them though.

Also to those only using a mage and not going for sorcerers/sorceresses yall missing out.

My Geralt is strong sure, but without Triss big creature battles would last forever. Like here I'm fighting a cyclops on a narrow area and he mutilates one of the two pawns I have with me by sending him flying off the ledge, and I wasn't about to go down to revive him. So now I'm the only melee damage dealer. I climb the beast, wreck his face to kingdom come, and as he throws me off and I'm running away so I don't die Triss finishes casting her attack and

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAM

Tyrannosaurus rex that cyclops insta-killing him.

For me? I take a flask of oil, throw it at them, then get a fire augment on my weapons via a mage pawn, then set it on fire repeatedly.

Wut

you can throw oils in this game? I'm using a sorcerer and I have fire spell I guess that will work.

Now yall know what I meant in this quote I posted eariler.

The ogres, yea, they are a problem, but its the elder ogres thats the REAL problem.

But, if you got a mystic knight or sorcerer, put his ass to sleep.

they have daddies and they are stronger? yeah I'll die alot in this game :D

That's a pretty overly reductive.

They are completely changed in ways to play off of the expectations players developed from engaging with the normal ogres.

The elemental weaknesses are switched around, and most amusingly for the first encounter,
it is men they go crazy after.

yeah i know but those are little differences to me. That's just my opinion and it's not a real problem btw.

also once you have multiple portcrystals, store the ones you have except for one. There are certain keyspots you wanna put the few port crystals you get in NG. Luckily I found a port crystal in one of those areas and put a port crystal right outside of it.

Go to a flask of oil, hold it, and then throw it like you would a pawn... I mean... Box. What kind of sociopath would throw pawns off cliffs anyway?

Additionally, if you're fighting the ogres in the caves I think you're fighting them, there's a bunch of explosives barrels around that you could lure it to.

Just changed from my starter class Strider to Mage. Suprised how fun it is casting spells and healing your allies! This is how I like my magic users in games, preparing and casting big gorgeous and devestating spells. BOOM!

Yup, but you wont face them until you get to Bitterblack island, the end game DLC area. All new enemies in there, and remixed enemies, which is where the elder ogres come in at.

and also about the oil, you know those flash of oil you pick up??? Or fill up with your empty flask???

In your inventory, you can select hold, to hold them in your hand and then throw them at enemies to drench them in oil, it makes fire attacks VERY deadly. And the flask of water, the same thing for electric. and completely stun lock his ass when its wet with water and your attacking with electric weapons and spells.

You can also put that oil on an arrow to make oil arrows, achieve the same thing.

Oh they are little differences. A clear case of the devils in the details.
The reason it works so well as an experience the first time is BECAUSE of the normal ogre, and how its design gets players to learn how to fight it so well. Using your tried and true technique leads to instant and hilarious, if only breif disaster.

Removing it from that context and comparing it directly to the normal ogre as a stand alone just didn't make sense.

yes but you are talking about the very first time you meet one. Ok you try your spells, you see that they go crazy
on men
, fine, ok, but their moveset is almost identical. C'mon, it's not a design miracle. Normal Ogres are the real deal to me. Amazing original design.

I'm convinced that the game just wants me to fail all escort missions.

You took down a Chimera and an Ogre with armor on the way up? HAHA MOTHERFUCKER HERE'S A DRAGON TO WRECK YOUR SHIT

Uhhh, gave my main pawn some heavy ass altar stones then an ogre pushed it off the edge. What happened to my all the items on my pawn, can I get them back?

I'm pretty sure(not certain) if you go back to a rift stone and get your pawn back, they'll have the items they were carrying.

On the other hand, if this happens with some random persons pawn... You lost em.

Game keeps stuttering for me and it's keeping me from playing, even stutters in the main menu. GTX 980 Ti, i5-6600k no problems with any other game. Sad :(

Oh, yeah. Got it back and all the items. Good thing that one random pawn I gave an altar stone to didn't die.

Can I turn in the quest with altar stones on diff pawns, or do I have to have them all on me?

Never played this before, which class should I choose? Fighter, strider or mage?

All are good to level. Each class has passive skills you'll probably want to unlock.

Fighter is up close, can tank and hit pretty hard. Has a knack for bunching up enemies and keeping them on the ground or in the air.

Highly defensive too, can survive in a melee and exploit openings to deal some large burst damage.

Strider allows for a mix of ranged and cqc. Weaker than fighter up close, but huge maneuverability and very quick. Great for clearing trash. Against large enemies with elemental weapons, very good for climbing and hitting with quick strikes to proc the effect (i.e.: burning a griffin).

They also have long range, and if you can headshot trash goes down quick. Some arrow skills are very powerful, like the one that fires a line of xx arrows coupled with elemental can act like a shotgun up close.

Mages are purely long range with some short range defensive spells they can deal incredible damage, aoe, CC, but they need space.

They can heal too. Being in control of this with well managed pawns gives you a good amount of control, along with the impact your damage spells doo you never feel on the sidelines.

Spells in this game are very tactile, they make you feel like you're tearing the place apart rather than just letting off fireworks. Easily the most satisfying spell caster I've played

-

Go with your gut. Enjoy them all. Level then to max and pick and choose from an expansive range of powerful passives.

Every class has something incredibly satisfying about them, wreck your comfort zone.

How on earth do I catch this Usain Bolt bastard in the Uninvited Guest quest?

I'm guessing there must be a trick I'm missing somewhere!?

If you're a bow user, hit him repeatedly with Mighty/Full Bend while getting close enough to pick him up. There's a little alley that he'll run through that's between the fish market and another shop, it's easy to hit him there.

Or you can wait outside the inn, on the gate/riftstone side and he'll run by you and towards the beach, next to a building; you can follow him and he'll have to run right back through you when he turns around.

evlcookie

but ever so delicious
That moment when you realise you're level 18 and have spent no discipline points in your rook.

I should pay attention to things.

Don't remember, but it shouldn't be a problem to have them all on you when you turn it in.

Or you can just hit him, to stop him from running for a second and quickly grab em, or hit him with some attack that knocks him down, and then grab em, like I did.

Nice one, didn't think about attacking the guy, doh! Will give that a go.

Holy shit I am level 20 and was just exploring and accidentally stumbled upon /boss spoiler?
the motherfucking dragon that steals your heart. Glowing chest and shit. Had like 8 health bars. I took off like 10% of the first one and then succumbed to fire after a 10 minute fight. Fucking my pawn became possessed and impaled me on his sword as I got roasted alive.
. My mouth is dry because my jaw was on the floor the whole fucking time.

This fucking game. How about that for a gear/skill/reality check.

^^^ oh shit. I guess it was this. Yeah, it was at night for me. Terrifying.
