They really should have added fast non combat stamina recovery, its so tedious running to place that its making me not want to do sidequests

The ENB really makes this game look almost next-gen, so good. Can't wait for some extra texture (and grass) mods to really make this game shine.

Also to those only using a mage and not going for sorcerers/sorceresses yall missing out.

My Geralt is strong sure, but without Triss big creature battles would last forever. Like here I'm fighting a cyclops on a narrow area and he mutilates one of the two pawns I have with me by sending him flying off the ledge, and I wasn't about to go down to revive him. So now I'm the only melee damage dealer. I climb the beast, wreck his face to kingdom come, and as he throws me off and I'm running away so I don't die Triss finishes casting her attack and

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAABAM

Tyrannosaurus rex that cyclops insta-killing him.

the motherfucking dragon that steals your heart. Glowing chest and shit. Had like 8 health bars. I took off like 10% of the first one and then succumbed to fire after a 10 minute fight. Fucking my pawn became possessed and impaled me on his sword as I got roasted alive.
. My mouth is dry because my jaw was on the floor the whole fucking time.

This fucking game. How about that for a gear/skill/reality check.

The funny thing is
That's not the dragon, it's just a random drake.
Though, it's perfectly healthy to run away when you see something like that.

I don't mind escort missions... probably because I don't do any escorting.

I go to the destination first on my own and drop a portstone there. Then I ferrystone back, accept the quest, then ferrystone to the destination with the quest person coming along. Done!

Fire spell+lock on head+spam it = KOed ogre

I didn't even need to use the oil :D

thanx, will try it in the future when I face daddy ogre :p

yea, unfortunately that shit aint gone work too well by itself, you fight those elders in close quarters, were talking narrow hallways thats two body widths wide in some parts. and some in rooms the size of bed rooms.

Them fools can launch a drop kick at the length of half a football field down that corridor and KO all four of yall at once.

dudes aint no jokes

man that quest/dungein was cool, came out with such little health, my party actually felt whiped out haha

I still dont quite undersand the health system and its hollow-style "you can only heal up to a certain point"

The way it works is pretty straightforward: Healing spells won't keep your health topped off, so as you take damage your max health decreases. However, using healing items can restore blank parts of the healing bar. I like it because it makes resting at an inn worthwhile.

The white bar means spells can still recover that lost HP. After that, only curative itens or resting will recover you. I like the system a lot, it encourages you to prepare for your journey and dont push your party too far.

Edit: Beaten like a girl fighting an Ogre

Game looks really nice on PC, can't wait until I can afford it so that I can finally 100% it.
When I was playing it on PS3 I somehow almost completely ignored side quests so there's apparently lots of stuff to do.
I did enjoy Bitterblack Isle to my hearts content though, undoubtedly best part of the game, it felt like Dungeons&Dragons.

I wonder if its possible that someone could make Online Co-op mod to the game? Friend could join in as your pawn or something, cause that would be lots of fun.

aye man, this is going to really put a damper on your shit, but....................................that was a drake.............a baby dragon....................

You think that drake fight was hardcore...ooooohhhhhh BOY. Wait till you fight a actual dragon.

What level can Bitterblack be tackled at? Made it near the first boss at level 34 and I was barely denting the thing.

50+ was the recommended level, iirc; that's highly dependent on your equipment though.

The first time through BBI isn't much more difficult than what you face near the vanilla endgame, but when you run into the new enemies/bosses, you need the right gear to even dent their health/take a hit.

Yeah, that was a Drake, not THE Dragon. The main dragon is
about 3x the size of a Drake!

Yyyyyyyep. So how badly did I fuck up?

It depends:

  • Did you save before you got wrecked?
  • Did you consider running away?
  • Did you somehow think you could beat it?
  • Did you think that was an actual dragon?

On a side note, the armored enemy you faced on the way up was a cyclops, the bigger, more docile cousin of the much, much, more brutal ogre.

To be clear though, everyone fucks up when they see that thing.

Ogre battles are so much fun until they dropkick you into 0Hp. Fucking Hard mode

I had this happen to me in the Vanilla version on the 360. I didn't die from the dropkick but he did kick me off a cliff near Gran Soren, I was in the red already and wondering if I would survive, after a lengthy fall, splat, no dice.

It was really damn epic and I was happy to do die that way, it would've made great Share footage.

What.

Technically an assassin. But reasons:

- Striders are faster in combat, and are more flippy/mobile than warriors or fighters, more aching to witcher combat.

- They have two blades (vs one sword and a shield or one giant sword)

- Use of poison later on, like Witchers use oils/potions

And at the end of the day there's no class that uses two swords here haha.

See, this is the absolutely best part. Somehow, the area is at just the right distance from everything that people are very, very likely to have their first encounter at night. Sure, you could just get there at daytime, but for some fucking reason, the distance is just magically correct to get you there at night. And then you get fucked because that thing is generally way beyond you at first encounter.

And its all completely dynamic. No scripting. The fucker just happens to inhabit that particular spot of the map. And no, that is not "the boss." The boss is about 20 times bigger.

Yyyyyyyep. So how badly did I fuck up?

Oh, you didn't. That is just an experience very similar to my own, and by what I've read in the net, it happens to majority of the players. :D Fuckin' brilliant, I tell ya.

You could even use Dragon's spit(or whatever it's called) as grenades. That being said, you could go with a single longsword and bow with the Assassin as well.

ooooh Core Skills are like new combos in a action game, they are not actual spells to use in the 6 slots. I see I see

Also, shooting bows is cool and all, but you know whats cooler? Jumoing in the air and crashing down in a fire-y explosion with your daggers

starting to get the hang of things. Did all but one of the wyrm hunt quests now, had no idea where the hell to find the path to the one in the south but my pawn just now pointed out how to get there.

is there a mod yet to give warriors 6 skills? I'm actually enjoying the class and I find jumping around smacking chimera tails somehow more satisfying than climbing around on it like a housefly. But the moveset is sooo limited. I'm not really one to use gameplay altering mods but I'd make this one exception since I don't feel it'd be overpowered.

I still dont quite undersand the health system and its hollow-style "you can only heal up to a certain point"

Basically, every time you take damage you lose a small bit of total health and a chunk of recoverable health. Healing items and spells only affect the recoverable health, to regain your total health you must sleep at an inn.

HeeHo

im using that mod right now. Its great for just traversing quicky. Some says its cheating, but i dont see how, when thats all it does. Its no better than borderlands where you have infinite sprint.

Well, you're making progress probably a bit faster than the rest of the people who are not using mods. I get it's annoying but I kinda feel the same way about people who mod out inventory limits in FO4 and TES games/Witchers.

I would personally suggest you don't use it as there is an awesome assassin ability that lets you travel really quickly without having to mod anything.

But I'm sure you're way too used to it to go back. Personally, as long as I can fast travel, I'm good. Compared to the vanilla version, that alone, seems worlds better.

Pretty sure you can eat consumables like apples or grandgrapes to recover the portion that cannot be healed through a spell.

I just don't know how to get my pawns to forcibly eat something to recover their halved HP bars.

Whats the deal with the armor at the inn in Gran Soren? its generally better than my armor and free?

its at any inn and its the stuff from Dark Arisen, you can start the game with them. theres also the infinite travel stone there (but you can only travel to limited places)

In the PC version, every piece of paid DLC on consoles is given out for free. As such, you get decent armor at the start of the game via the inn.

That being said, the shops in Gran Soren get new and better stuff as you progress in the game.

I could, but daggers also has counter attacks and rolling, making them ever more mobile ala witchers.

Assassin sword also has parries, but you got me on the rolling.

False. Healing items heal you up to your maximum health, but they only increase the recoverable health threshold after your actual HP goes over the healing spells limits.

did you sell the free items you get at the beginning in your storage? It's unique armor, they all have meh stats that will quickly be replaced by shop inventory. One of them in particular even says "it has no particular qualities" but sells for 320K

- Yes
- Once I noticed the fact that my strike to its heart did absolutely nothing, yes. But too late.
- Before I saw those 8 life bars, yes!
- Also yes.

Well, good to know. I'll jump back in once my blood pressure has subsided.

Man I love this game. Been playing for more than two hours and I haven't even made it the escorting of the
hydra's head.
Just going around trying to kill everything I encounter on hard mode. Game feels lovely at a locked framerate.

Will post a shot of my mock-Mercedes character in the other thread once I get the captain's armor set.

After that I think I'm gonna try making a Jill Valentine & Regina (Dino Crisis) pawn for this playthrough.

Glad to see Dogma getting more love! I still play the ps3 version every so often. I hope the PC port sells well enough to convince Capcom into making a sequel.
