Another heads-up: Set HDR to Low. On high, the bloom effects make everyone look like giant, walking fireflies, and glowing spells like Heal turn your entire field of view into a Christmas tree.

That is also my strong advise as well. HDR 'High' is an 'interesting' novelty setting you'd maybe check out a few times but that's it.

The intended light range is the 'Low' setting. It's the original setting used on the console versions.

High settings also creates this translucent, haze effect around bright source which makes it difficult to see through especially when traversing during night time.

I'm considering relabeling the text from "LOW / HIGH" to something like "NATURAL / INTENSE" since everyone instinctively set it to High thinking it's better without actually ever seeing the arguably better 'Low' setting.

Created a Steam Group for Dragon's Dogma for NeoGAF, it's public so anyone can join, but who cares if non gaf members join all we need this for is for speedy friend requests

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/dragonsdogmagaf

now we don't have to keep posting profiles on gaf.

The game has pushed me into this Group my friend, i can feel the hype in my vein, the time is running quick, but i can't hold on until friday.

I think rather than everyone posting their Steam profile, everyone interested should just join the Dragon's Dogma Gaf group linked above and add people through that.

No use clogging this discussion thread up when there is a group for that same explicit purpose.

that's the reason I made it. Once the game is closer to release (like the day or few hours before release) I'll start going through the list of members and adding friends. fairly fast if you're doing it via the web browser too, you can just open multiple tabs and add friends, vs the steam client

Yeah I agree with this. Did just that.

I completely recommend you do relabel the settings.

Mainstream users already struggle enough with PC settings and it could effect your aggregate reviews on Steam.

That seems like a really, really smart idea. Otherwise, everyone will be using the high setting if the performance impact is non-existant or negligible.

It reminds me of Bioshock Infinites DoF. It had options labeled "normal" and "alternate."

Alternate had a big performance cost, but wasn't objectively better. Just different. It looked nice too! But because of the label alternate, I know myself and I'm sure many others stuck with normal, or at least put more scrutiny in comparing between off and on.

Yeah the HDR is really over the top and especially glaring in dark dungeons when you've got a mage healing and buffing you all the time. Tried to aim some arrows and could barely see a thing.

Renaming the settings is probably a good idea and/or adding those little notes at the bottom of each setting like Metal Gear Solid V did.

Would probably save a lot of complaining.

that would seem like a good choice of relabeling

I probably would have just set it to High and not given it any other thought

Joined the Gaf group, great idea. Will probably create a Warrior pawn as I did in the PS3 version. People used him a lot to carry heavy stuff around, and he was pretty useful at level 150. It was funny to see my friends starting the game and summoning him, as it's free to summon friend's pawns. If you like to be overpower, it's always a good way to get some equipment from BBI and making the main game a joke.

I might have just sent duplicate requests to a couple people, apologies for that. I had a good run of having no Steam friends, but Dragon's Dogma changes even the strongest of us.

Back on topic, I might have to make use of ShadowPlay, you get some nice moments every now and again and recording them would be fun.

I'm gonna need a warrior pawn seeing how I'll have a female mage.

Which apparently everybody makes one lol. To be fair though, mine is themed with my character.

I actually bought this digitally on 360. I feel like I should play it an hour or two just so I can appreciate how much better the PC version looks and feels.

Wowie, this game's forming a nice little friend web. Sweet!

Er, does the game actually use friends for finding pawns? I might as well say now, my guys probably going to be a melee fighter.

Yes. The pawns of your friends are always free no matter their levels.
