I got that same bug. I was so damn confused. :lol Thinking about it now, I tried doing a Mercedes escort quest at one point and she died. Maybe it shifted from "Event Mercedes" to "Normal Mercedes" and the latter was still dead? Now that I'm well above level 30 (actually, level 45 now), I've been doing a lot more exploring, and it's always exciting even if it's usually not hard. The game has turned into a huge time vortex now. It always keeps me going for an hour or two longer than I expect.
I had something really strange happen in my game, though. During the "Pride Before the Fall" quest (the story-ish one with Mercedes), I encountered a really weird glitch. After her duel with Julian, when the game turned from pre-rendered cutscene to realtime, she vanished completely. Julian talked to a wall for a while, talked to me, and then left. The game, still in cutscene mode, panned around in empty space and total silence for a minute or two, cutting between wide shots of the courtyard and closer shots of the Arisen and a spot in front of him. My character did not emote. Eventually, it ended, and I was told to report the results of my mission. A Silver Rapier appeared in my inventory without a prompt appearing onscreen.
Should I be concerned going forward? And what would have happened normally had my game not glitched?
Get out.No, most of the helmets are fabric or steel...badum chiiiiii

It was awful, but it worked for me becauseI never did that escort quest, so that can't be the cause. I wonder if I was just standing in the wrong place or something.
That duel fight choreography was really something, huh?
The Wyrm Hunt stuff are the story missions so you'll be fine doing them. One of them is actually head to the Shadow Fort so you might want to kill two birds with one stone there.
How do you get that, anyway? I never saw it in either of my two playthroughs.I still had the Arisen's Bond item from my first playthrough. Just for fun, I gave it to Mercedes as soon as I met her in NG+ Her reaction was pretty amusing. I sorta wish I had forged it first but I guess I can get another this time around. I'm curious now if every NPC has unique dialogue when you give it to them or only certain ones have unique dialogue.
It was awful, but it worked for me becauseI kept expecting Mercedes to make a comeback.

Yeah, there's one guy there who gives you the option to rest. I hope you are talking about Greatwall. When I get to one of the holdfasts (or waycastles? idk) can I sleep? I've just been standing around the fire waiting for morning, but is there a way I can rest?
Map: http://i.imgur.com/PNIl9.jpgWhere the hell is Witchwood...still can't find the damn place...gimme some directions guys....close to the Abbey where Quina is roaming around?(couldn't do anything with her I guess I don't have the quest yet)...
DatI stoodbetween them because I thought I was going to get a cutscene where I risk my life to protect her, she gets angry at Julien, makes a come back, and kill Julien in the process, and *insert awkward romance scene*
Of course none of it happened, slashes just went right through me, and, feels bad.I just watched her lose, she left after I gave her 10 of those cloudwine I brought her
Well, balls. I did all of that except for the return visit.Mostly just quest line information, but spoiler-tagged just in case
You have to do Quina's escort quest just after the Encampment Hydra event, then after doing Duke's Directive, you occasionally overhear a conversation in front of the Gran Soren where they talk about a mob looking for Selene. Do that quest and it opens up a new path in the Witchwood. You meet Selene at a gravesite. Leave the Witchwood and immediately come back and go to the gravesite again. There's a tablet there that, if you take to the priests, you get an Arisen's Bond for your troubles.
The Metal Golem is also in that area but I don't recommend taking him on unless your job class has archery skills.
I forgot all about that creature! So it is kill-able? I should go back down there today. At level 42 it should be cake right?

my rebirthed pawn (NG+) is a sexy thing white witch looking sorceress with a pony tail. Previous, she was a short black tween with dreads and I had very little RC. Maybe about 5000 all up??
Been on holiday; will be back in a couple of days; here's to loads of RCs. If not... fuck you internet.

Mason's quest should be part of that lot, but unfortunately it seems that it (Mason's) actually becomes available immediately upon accepting Barnaby's request. Undertaking it under those circumstances creates a situation where it cannot be completed, the guy you are following simply vanishes into a wall at the end of the pursuit - the final cut-scene/event never happens!

the cutscene wherei got that one without clearing the first EF quest.julien is meeting with madeleine in her shop?
Ah, yes. You could always go to the nearby Encampment though. No, I was talking about Mountain Waycastle in between Gran Soren and Watergod's Altar. Theres 2 guys there an neither give me the option to rest.
Hi,
I have a quick question. I'm currently playing Dragon's Dogma, and the game is quite fun. Right now, I'm in a temple behind a waterfall, at level 19. There is one door that I can't open, and I'm not able to find the item which is necessary in order to open it (I searched it near the place where we can attack a Cyclop, to no avail).
... Which isn't a problem in fact, since I've been able to do some "sequence-breaking" by doing great jumps in order to reach some aeras (in fact, I'm not really if it is "sequence-breaking"... I mean, they left these aeras open for a reason, right ?), and notably the one behind the door, which allowed me to evacuate the water in the aera.
But, for the sake of it : where is the item needed in order to open that door ? It's driving me insane.

Does anyone happen to have an extra Gold Idol? Did not know that you had to lose to the girl in order to get it.
Better than me. I picked her up when she fell during that quest and got arrested. lol. Quest failed.

He's usually near the Soulflayer Canyon entrance. If you stick to the road then he won't spot you. Lvl 20 is really low to take him on, just run past him.So I'm in the cursewood at night - off the path- and my group is basically just strolling and killing ogres and wolves. Then I see a quest start that says slay the enemy and a knight with a tower shield ambushes me, and starts wreaking havoc on my entire party.
Question: Who is this asshole? I tried to fight him, but I was doing literally (I think) 0 damage to the guy. I'm a level 20 strider and had 3 pawns to assist me, but we still got demolished. Am I not supposed to meet this guy, or could I have reasonably taken him?

Ah, got it. So reasonably, when should I come back to slay him?
So...what are enemy tripwires supposed to accomplish in this game? They don't seem to serve any purpose outside of looking ominous.

They somehow signal enemies (not just humans, animals and monsters, as well) to your location.
That's what I thought, too, but no one ever comes. It must not work if you've already killed all the enemies in the area.
