Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Why is the lip syncing so horrible? :(

Yeah a lot of those stuff are really horrible for today's standard, like the npc animations and quest/story stuff, it's kind of crazy since they said the npc and VA stuff was where most of their money went, and it still looked like something from the early ps2 era.

Does anyone know exactly where the Gran Soren Rubble is located?

It says Gran Soren Vicinity, but I'm not sure exactly where it could be hiding.

There's one near the gate down the aquaduct, where I'm standing at (it's random apparently so it could be a petty stone or gran soren rubble):

My problem with the VA isn't so much the actors themselves, its the fact that there's absolutely no direction. It's as if the actors are reading the lines and putting emotion into it as best they can, but were never told by anyone what the scenario is supposed to be, and what kind of emotion they should be using.

I'm missing one fucking quest for "The Hero" and I don't know what quest it is. Driving me batty. :(

Done all of those =\

Abby quests, Mettle against Metal, Search Party... I'm scoobied. I've even manually gone through the completed quest list with a checklist for the hero and verified that every quest is done. It's the only trophy I need for a platinum.

What about the Cassardis quests at the beginning of the game? Three of them, I believe, and very easy to miss since I think one of them may not show up in the quest log/Status page.

You mean to fetch the flowers for the sick people, and escort Madeleine to the encampment? Did those.

I followed an FAQ. It's more likely that I missed one toward the beginning than toward the end, though. I started another NG+ on accident (I thought you could choose to go back to the dark world to farm Everfall after you finish if you want)

There's also finding the scriptures on a Cassardis rooftop, and also delivering some news from one guy to another. Easily missable.

Also, did you do Reynard's (the travelling salesman) fetch quest, the one with the 6 journal entries?

Progress update!

This game continues to impress me! I just did the main quest ‘Seeking Salvation’ (you have to investigate a cult in the catacombs). Dat atmosphere! This game does zombies and atmosphere better than the RE6 demo! Great stuff! Blasting them with holy arrows was epic! And I decided to
kill the leader
– wonder if that makes a difference. In other news, I switched my vocation from strider to magic archer and my main pawn from mage to sorcerer. I wish I knew before that sorcerers can’t heal. All well, I have another pawn in my party being a mage and taking the healing job now– which I feel is essential. Having a healer is an absolute must! And I wish my magic archer had better looking clothes, I could change them but my stats would go down, so I’m currently wondering around in an emo black robe - other than that nitpick I love my magic archer. Auto aiming FTW!

I’ve noticed the griffin keeps on making appearances near Gran Soren, but I can’t seem to do much damage. I really hope it’s not just him and that’s it. I want to keep fighting them! Please tell me he’s not just a one off enemy

I think if they really try, they could really nail the atmosphere if we didn't have so many pawns all talking at the same time, the shit was intense when I tossed my pawns down the cliff and wander around at night alone, all you hear are the creepy lizard sound, endless amount of wolves and the sound of skeletons forming in the background.

I'm probably still early in the game, I'm only level 30, but why is money so hard to get? I found a traveling merchant and he had some awesome gear but I couldn't afford to buy more than one thing. Let alone have a decent stock of Ferrystones. Is there a good way to make gold?

I got most of the gold from quests, I just sell those gold weapons I don't use for money

Cut off some lizard tails and sell them. Lots of them hang around near the male bandit camp near Witchwood, and also near Shadowfort. Just also do every board quest you can - some of them will have Gold weapons as rewards that sell for quite a bit. Check the board at Gran Soren near the alehouse.

You know how to initiate that quest, right? It's a bit tricky.

More pictures from the bandits camp before I leave for the last 2 missions before post game.

MA has some unique skills, but I'm not liking it that much, here's how I'd rank my favorite to my least favorite vocation:

Mystic Knight > Assassin > Strider > Magic Archer > Sorcerer > Fighter > Warrior

I haven't played Ranger and Mage yet (doubt I'd like Mage, so Ranger will be my last run).

Annnnnd. 114 hours later I've finally got my platinum. Which for me is sort of a big deal since I normally couldn't care less about trophies/cheevos. The only other game I've cared enough to do this with was Saints Row the third.

Holy crap that was amazing. One of those false endings explains a lot. Also what was up with the final boss the second time around?
I'm guessing the second time beating it the Seneschal takes the form of another person who's beaten the game?

I noticed that too. He looked really cool the second time around. Thought someone did a good job designing their character :lol

What's better, Potent/Mature Greenwarish or Desiccated herbs?

Is there any place where I can see the amount of Hp/stamina each item gives?

*edit* Nm, I found out.

So how big is the world? In the main storyline I just killed the
gryphon in the bluemoon tower
and so far the world seems very small and not very varied. Am I still in the beginning? I did just get my first port crystal so I'm guessing I still have a long ways to go.

I beat the big baddie last night and on to the epilogue stuff now. The way the love interest comes out of nowhere at the end made for some unintentional hilarity seeing as I didn't really play any role in the blossoming romance between my character and the hub city innkeeper.

It's pretty small, it's probably the "biggest" game Capcom has made but it's hella small compare to other open world games. Set your port crystal at bluemoon tower, it's probably the last locale you get to visit if you haven't been to the
great wall
yet

Is there any recourse for fighting pawns on the road? Cause I kinda like it. Though sometimes they just heal to full after I kill them :(

I'm going to try pawnVpawn, but I think the enemy pawn will just go straight for me :(

That's how it feels comparing it to other stuff like Skyrim and other games. That's a shame, oh well game is fun. And damn I left that place already, I need to go back and set it there. Any purpose for setting it there?

Well the mission after the
the Griffin fight makes you go back
but that's pretty much it.

Somehow this totally went right under my radar but now I want in. Any difference between the PS3 and X360 versions?

360 version has better framerate but a lot of tearing (but I've heard it decreases after a patch and running it on 720p, it's not confirmed however because the patch came after all the testings), and PS3 version has crappy framerate.

I'm level 41 and I haven't even talked to the Duke yet. I'm probably going way off the main quest right?

hmm, meeting the duke quest is from maximillion, main quests are pretty linear so you shouldn't be too far off.

I meant, I haven't by choice since the NPC told me I you lose all quest. I could have gone at around lvl 20 but I started doing all the side quest I could find.

Not really. In the next game (if there is one), I'm kind of hoping that we meet random pawns on the road that will just attack you. Sort of like a PvP (Pawn vs Pawn, heh) of sorts.

Thank god the game started to get harder niow, I returned to
Bluemoon Tower
for the next quest and the bandits here are actually a challenge. I hope there more of this to come because the game was getting too easy.

Maybe at the Everfall, but before that I don't think there's really much of a challenge.

beat this game last night and started NG+, what an amazing sleeper hit. I'm really into the soundtrack and found a few copies available on amazon, but they were all around $60 USD >_<

So what exactly are people's complaints about this game? I saw it show up a few times mentioned as the most disappointing game of the year.

I was mildly curious. Bought it grudgingly despite that I thought it looked pretty bland, but its now my game of the year and one of my favorite games of the generation. Surprised to see that kind of hate for it, but what is it exactly what people don't like? The poor voice direction?

Personally I have a few complaints about the game but they are all minor. The game is fun as hell. If they make a sequel I really hope they improve 100% from this because there is a lot of room for improvement. For example the voice acting and the characters as they talk is terrible, the lip synching and body language. The game world should be bigger and more varied. There are more things but I can't think of them at the moment since I'm too busy enjoying the hell out of the game.

Calling it the disappointment of the generation is an exaggeration.

I don't want the environments to be too much more varied than they are, IMO. The game map made perfect sense within the games structure. Since there's no fast travel, you have to walk everywhere - it wouldn't make sense for you to be able to walk from pretty green forest to frozen tundra, for obvious reasons.

If they added in boats or something of the sort, I could see there being variety.

Character dialog I agree with, though. The pawns constantly blabbering is really annoying.

I'm calling for their heads! But seriously, what?

My complaints for this game are frame rate issues, lack of variety in encounters and environments, and some lazy story sequences. That's about it, but the good outweighs the bad here by a lot.
