Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

You gave it to them for the
golden idol quest?
or another one? AFAIR I only did the
golden idol quest
, never gave them bronze or silver ones.

I don't think I have that quest yet, I've only done the
idol worship where you give idols to the weapon and that girl merchant in the slums

I just started and I can't tell where to go to do any quests. I jumped down a well and got owned quick.

Otherwise the enemy encounters are pretty fun.

^Yeah, you're kind of just thrown into the game to fend for yourself. Try to take on Notice Board quests in the first town so that you can work toward completing them during your travels.

Finally had some free time tonight so I started over and played for a few hours. For some reason I started focusing on a clicking noise you hear while running which was slowly driving me insane. Other than that I'm loving it, exploration feels great and I haven't found many games that actually make the darkness something to be feared. It does seem almost too dark at times though in wide open areas with a clear sky.

What is with that clicking noise?! I cant figure out whats causing it!

Anyone else getting it?

When weapons are drawn it doesn't happen so I assume it's supposed to be the weapons bumping your belt or something. Really find it annoying, but now I just run everywhere with weapons drawn.

Oh God don't ever use Load Last Checkpoint. My definition of checkpoint and Capcom's must be very different.
I normally click on retry after I die. In case I don't, I just quit to the title screen and load the game again. I think 'Load Last Checkpoint' is the Auto Save one.

hahahhaha yes! I finally found the Snakeskin Purse, it's in
Soulflayer Canyon: first level

Dammit I was just there and I was there for a long time too trying to find
parcels and some other paper
I checked every nook and cranny and can't believe I didn't see the purse. Do you remember where it is exactly?

Hard to describe but:
on the first level underground, on the map there are two ladders, on the left ladder there is like a rock bridge going N with water on the ground. I found it next to some crates in that big opening space at the northern most part of that area.

Hey guys, did anyone have a problem with Witch's Brew quest? Every time I go to the whichwood she isn't there, not in the hut, not in the woods, is there anything I have to do before that? Does it have something to do with her Escort quest? Should I do the escort quest first?

I really have no idea what save it works off of. I used it after the person I was escorting died figuring it would take me back to the castle gates or one of the several autosaves I hit along the way.

It dropped me back several hours earlier at a Rift stone in the Gran Soren.

I made my way to Bluemoon Tower. Much of it can't be accessed right now, so I guess I'll be returning here on a quest. I also do not have a Ferrystone, so it's going to be a long-assed walk all the way back to Gran Soren.
Perfectly fine, though, that's just more fighting, and more EXP and DP.

Checkpoint and autosave are completely different. I made the mistake of loading from checkpoint once and it sent me back about 3 hours of gameplay. Fortunately quitting and restarting used my most recent save instead of starting back at the checkpoint. I'm guessing load from checkpoint is mainly there in the event that you get yourself into a HOLY F***ing SHIT location and can't find a way out.

Can your lantern ever get stolen or lost? I just noticed I've got two in my inventory and wasn't sure if it is actually worthwhile to carry a second one.

Man, the enemies in this dungeon are almost approaching Dark Souls levels of awesome. I'm getting absolutely destroyed but loving every moment of it.

Not that I've noticed. Feel free to stick with just one.
OH! Never thought to give a spare to my main pawn. Dammit.

I am finding some amazing loot for my main pawn. I am not finding much for me, though!
Found a Gryphic Helm for my Pawn, and it's looking good with her Surcoat, and Direwolf Cape. Now I just need to find some better leggings and boots and her ensemble will look pretty awesome.

No more snow harpies

Yes! They're so damn annoying. Especially where I am now with these narrow stairways.

I love the pawn system. It feels like the first RPG where I'm traveling with dudes. And the slight anime/Japanese style gives me a Record of Lodoss War vibes.

Haven't been spending any Rift crystals becuase I only hire pawns at my level though.

My pawn has awesome gear. My char has had mostly the same armor once she switched to Strider.

Holy shit! Thank God for the Brine (never thought I'd say that). I fell from atop a tower, and thought I was dead, but I landed in the water and The Brine consumed me and set me back to the start of the area. Whew.

I tend to give my pawn priority with any equipment when I go shopping, or any loot we can both use. As a Ranger, I'm usually not in the thick of things like she is.

Love picking off enemies jumping at you through the air with my bow. Knocks them back instead of them just absorbing the shot and continuing forward with the jump.

Okay, fuck that Nameless Terrors quest. No markers of any kind and you can only do it at night. They don't give you any kind of guidelines to go off of as well.

I managed to complete it, but only by accident. After running around for 2~ hours trying to figure out where exactly I needed to be to trigger the spawn I finally find the next group off the road between the mountain pass and the encampment. They were like hidden off to the side, so you do have to venture off the road.

Of course, I died due to some crazy assassin shit one of them used on me. I was so frustrated though that I just blew my (one and only) wakestone and finished them off, then ran over and finished the quest. I got... nothing fantastic after that. Some letter which I don't know what to do with (if anything) and some experience.

Was really not worth it. I'm also abandoning that snakeskin purse quest since I can't find that shit either and just going to head over to the Duke so I can move on. Some of the quests in this game really suck ass since you have nothing to go on to complete them.

I replied above on where to find it, try
Soulflayer Canyon
, although, it's possible the spawn is random for it :(

I honestly don't find it too much like Monster Hunter. There will be times though when you are just walking in the wilderness and then a Monster Hunter type battle will come out of nowhere, which have been my favorite parts of the game so far. If you like open-world games as well, then you will enjoy this game.

I checked out the youtube video showing where it was, went there, broke everything, killed everything and searched like crazy. Found jack shit.

So, whatever. Onto bigger and better things. I've maxed out Strider/Assassin on my main and Fighter/Warrior on my pawn so I need to figure out what vocations I want to try next and progress into territory with harder mobs.

This dungeon is GIGANTIC...I'm still finding all kinds of secret landings you have to reach by sliding down slopes. Such good loot in here!!!

Me, my pawn (the one facing the camera) and a couple other pawns, the Mystic Knight is super fun.

Wow, dick move, game. I took an escort quest and wasn't paying attention to who I was escorting but he died at some point. No big deal, I finish another quest on the same route. Get back to Gran Soren, turns out it was the innkeeper. So now I can't rest or manage my skills or inventory in Gran Soren. Whoever said characters return in 7 days better be right.

Could you post whether or not that quest expires once you continue the story? I've read that the purse is a rare drop from saurians but I'm not going to hang around to farm it.
