Yeah I couldn't finish this shit. Comparing Drake to MARVIN GAYE?
Fuck that shit.
always weird to me when people take a comparison in theme and motivation as a comparison of quality.

sloppy shop but eh *kanye shrug* think of this everytime "shot for me" comes on

also, good score from pitchfork

i'd give it at least a 9/10.

but for Pitchfork that's a pretty good score. they seem to be writing better reviews lately too.
edit: although they didnt even mention Underground Kings unless i overlooked it

at first i thought it was dumb that Drake rapped about loving strippers and shit...until i read siddx's legendary thread

it kinda made sense to me after that. Drake's a "Captain" and he cant help it.

bonus track: "hate sleeping alone"

drake feature on complex:
When he first left Toronto to chase his dreams, Drake just wanted to be successful. Instead he found himself lost in a world that wasn’t too welcoming. Three years later he’s returned triumphant, bossing up and building his T-Dot movement, with more to take care of than ever before. There’s a lot of hate out there, but can a young spitter find love in the heart of the city?

Eh, not cause of this review or anything. But I cannot stand Pitchfork's reviews of rap. I think Stankonia was the 2nd best rap album of the 00's to them too.

Worse yet, compare Gaye's genuine loss of love to Drake being sad he can't date strippers

"and some porn stars [he'] s ashamed to mention."

Shitty review did get me to listen to M83 in a round about way, though.

why is the album on itunes only 15 tracks deep? dont tell me the only way to get the bonus tracks is a physical copy?

scroll down Cudder. its actually 20 tracks. since the itunes release has the Buried Alive interlude as a separate track.
yup, actually just found that out, lol. buying the album now. i love that they split off Buried Alive, saves me from putting Marvins Room on repeat at the gym just to listen to it!

I've been reading his interviews, he sounds like a pretty smart guy. I admire his loyalty to weezy, Toronto, and all his original friends. I love how he's always looking to hire and bring up lesser known talents instead of bringing in the big names.

Loved the album too. It is a lot different from TML which I didn't really like (it just didn't seem like his project but rather a YMCMB project). This seemed more like a true successor to So Far Gone.

drake interviews are always an enjoyable read. hes def a smart dude and i too like how hes all about his movement of getting toronto out there

there was an mtv documentary about him that came out before TML last year called "better than good enough". some great insight in there, and its also crazy to hear about 40's condition as well

heres part one, cant seem to find it on mtv.com

Yo...this album is fantastic.

indeed :D

I love this album! Thanks Drake. Looking forward to your Junior release. The flow from Rap to a R&B style is smooth.

those drake shops are killing me lol

Sorry for the bump. But I'm LTTP on this one. Pretty enjoyable. Is his debut album worth a listen?

its okay. most of the songs are largely forgettable on TML. if you havent yet though, download "so far gone". that tape is excellent

Yeah I'll also throw in that I'm still listening to this, but it's just about at the end of its lifespan though. Remarkably consistent hip hop album in general though, I'm definitely into 2/3 tracks. And even then, most of the tracks I'm not into have a great guest verse or hook or something else worthwhile(the one with Andre is dead boring, but his verse is killer).
