I had to google what this Lamar and Drake debacle was about. And I still dont get it aside from slinging insults and making songs ragging on the other person.

Childish ghetto folks.

And the funny thing is Drake grew up in Forest Hill I think (nice neighbourhood in Toronto). Yet the guy acts like grew up poor in the hood.

FOR THE CULTURE

"For the culture" doesn't mean against other cultures. Anyone making that kind of argument doesn't know what they're talking about. This includes a lot of black people.

That's a rumor based on words out of Drakes mouth. I don't know about anyone else but I don't trust anything "The Boy" says.

I googled Forest Hill. Those houses are palaces compared to what I grew up in (semi-detached). Does this guy act like he grew up poor in the hood?

What a fraud.

Guy on the left is former Reddit CEO/founder. He married Serena Williams who looks disgusting. lol
Your use of "disgusting" and "ghetto folks" makes you sound like you have no black friends at all. Like you only know and believe stereotypes.

That's an unflattering picture of her but she looks good is most other images and videos. Her body shape isn't for you, but it is for me and many other black men.

And Kendrick is a Pulitzer Winner... Did you win a Pulitzer? I don't believe you did.

Relax DF.

And what's going on with you? A year ago you said you put me on ignore, but you still respond. lol. I knew you were a liar and would see my posts.

Hey, Drake and Lamar are childish ghetto folks. Two rappers, guys who grew up poor (at least they claim to be), and both acting like idiots. Googling it, these numbnuts have been going at it for 10 years publicly slinging insults and accusations and even making songs out of it.

Hey, you got your preferences in women. I do too. Dont expect everyone in life to conform to what you like. As for Pulitzer prizes, what does that have to do with anything? I never claimed I had one. lol. And you're making accusations other people are claiming to be Pulitzer brainers?

You are on ignore. But occasionally I will click the "see content you ignore" button...you know that's an option on this board, right? So no... Not a liar .. just selective about when I see ignored content. I don't respond to you that often, young man.

And that feud only heated up and came into the mainstream zeitgeist because Drake is a drama queen and acts like he's from the US using American affectations... He even sometimes spoke in a southern accent. If he hadn't have started it last year, Kendrick never would have gone all out and created a song that the mainstream would latch onto and been the bop of the summer.

And where did I say anything about conforming? I just didn't like the words you used... They came across as gross and almost elitist.

Who really cares who started the feud. They are grown musicians acting like idiots in public view. Even writing songs specifically to insult the other person. That's as childish as it gets. Maybe you should read the link I found fast in a google search and laugh at the feud.

If you dont like my words I think Serena Williams is disgusting, too bad. I think she's terribly ugly. You might think shes good looking with a body you like, but not everyone does.

How sheltered are you? You're acting as if this is the first time you've ever heard of artists beefing, it's something that's happened for years, and yes even White musicians have done it too 😲

I don't see how you can call them idiots, at least Kendrick. That feud won him a slew of awards and got him the half time show.

How do you not get it? Even after a Google search?

The Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef stemmed from longstanding tensions over lyrical supremacy, authenticity, and control of hip-hop, escalating through subliminal disses and competition for the genre's top spot

Drake represents a less authentic version of rap culture. As the beef escalated, Kendrick aimed to expose Drake’s alleged lack of credibility, calling out his industry tactics and questioning his place hip hop.

The beef between Drake and Kendrick isn’t just about lyrical supremacy, it’s a battle for the soul of hip-hop. On one side, you have an artist at the peak of his career, creating music that entertains but largely avoids the deeper struggles of the Black community. This represents the side of hip-hop that embraces mass appeal, welcoming anyone, regardless of their connection to the culture. On the other side stands an artist who confronts those issues head-on, representing a hip-hop that demands lived experience and the courage to speak on it. It’s the clash of hip-hop’s two faces.

makeup does wonders. have you seen those before and after pics of celebs/musicians who looked like 10s on TV

I never found Serena attractive; her features are too masculine for my taste. But that’s neither here nor there, first, she has no interest in me, and second, there’s no denying her talent as a tennis player.

The “beef” between these two is pure marketing. When it starts getting low listeners, clicks, and views, it’ll just fade away. If it was legitimate, there would be real defamation, libel, and slander lawsuits, which would end things immediately. Instead, they have bullshit “he faked his listener numbers with bots” lawsuits which draw attention to the “beef” and draw more people in.

Wish he would've dove deeper into his catalogue for the performance. Would've loved to hear "King Kunta" with the girls on the back up vocals. "Alright" would've rang off in the stadium.

That’s not how hip-hop works. Maybe in another genre, but in rap battles, it’s understood that artists will say the most outrageous things about each other, including, but not limited to, death threats. I don’t know, maybe Drake can change that with his 'hurt feelings' lawsuit, but I doubt it. Especially since the same label tactics he’s complaining about UMG using were actually deployed in his favor against Meek Mill.

As for your other point, the only opinions that truly matter come from those deeply embedded in the culture. Outsider perspectives hold little weight, it’s like me, an average nigga from the inner city, having a strong opinion about farming life in America. Farmers wouldn’t care what I have to say, and rightfully so.

Alright' would have definitely ruffled some feathers, given that it became an anthem within the 'woke' Black community. I would have loved to see that reaction.

His “hurt feelings” lawsuit you bring up perfectly fits in to what I said. He isn’t suing Kendrick, he’s suing the record label. He’s not demanding the songs with harmful lyrics be pulled, only asking that a statement is released calling the accusations untrue. Pure marketing. And it works brilliantly.

I’m not sure what other point you’re referring to. I only made one point about how this “beef” is marketing.

I thought the lawsuit was about UMG artificially boosting the song Not Like Us on media platforms and accusing content creators (AKA reactors) of being paid.

I also agree about the marketing, but what’s wrong with it all being marketing? Since when has brilliant marketing not been a part of a money making machine? Complaining about that is like whining about car commercials in the auto industry, sure, some are trash, but they’re expected.

Competition and marketing go hand in hand. Drake calling himself the GOAT is marketing. Kendrick saying Drake is trying to strike the A minor chord? Also marketing. :messenger_beaming:

I never said marketing was bad. I’m saying the “beef” isn’t real. It’s marketing to get listeners invested and cross promotes the other artist so you get both sides of the “beef” in turn combining two fan bases for each release. All manufactured.

As for the lawsuit I was referring to:

Normally on a defamation lawsuit you, at the very least, include the person defaming you. Not here.

“Drake’s legal team made clear that the rapper was suing UMG and not Lamar himself.”

Also noticeably absent is the demand to stop all further sales and streaming of the defamatory work. A normal person being defamed would include that demand to prevent further defamation from the original source from continuing. Not here.

Just more marketing on a fake “beef.”

My bad I didn't mean to say you said marketing was bad. I asked, what’s wrong with marketing being involved? It’s an inherent part of any business.

That said, I don’t see how marketing proves Kendrick and Drake’s beef isn’t real. Hip-hop rivalries have always had a commercial side, but that doesn’t mean they’re staged. Biggie and Tupac are both dead, and their estates (well, Diddy in Biggie’s case) made a lot of money for a period of time. Does that mean Tupac and Biggie sat at a table with record execs and said, "I can't wait to get smoked so that someone else can enjoy the fruits of my labor?"

As for the lawsuit, it’s an artist accusing his own record label of artificially boosting his rival, which raises serious questions. How does this benefit the label? How does Kendrick gain from the idea that his success was inflated rather than organic? And if this was a manufactured beef, why would they stretch it out for over a decade when they could have faked it for just one album cycle to the same effect? They could have had ten fallouts by now and generated way more revenue.

This doesn’t even take into account how dangerous this is for the artists, especially considering that some of their fans are actual gang members. Hip-hop beefs are always risky, and the potential for real-world violence is very real.

I appreciate you sharing your opinion & enjoy a good conspiracy theory, but until there’s concrete proof that this was staged, calling it manufactured is speculation without real evidence.

If you enjoy their music, good for you. If you enjoy it because you think the “beef” is real, then that’s pretty sad. Why would they stretch it for a decade? Because it keeps working. Why kill the cash cow? That’s why Kendrick wasn’t included in the defamation suit.

How does Kendrick gain from the idea that his success was inflated rather than organic? He gets more money, it doesn’t matter whether it’s organic or not.

What form of suspension of disbelief do you think one has to have to think the beef was "real". They've been throwing shots back and forth for years, do I think they want to kill each other? No. Do I think they want to take shots at the other in music to clown and embarrass the other? Sure. They've been hundreds and hundreds of rap beefs over the years due to different things, don't see how this one is any difference besides the two are equally popular in the mainstream. When it was Drake vs Meek I didn't hear it was staged, nor when it was Drake vs Pusha T. Matter of fact Pusha and Kendrick both had the same sort of view about Drake and said very similar things, doesn't feel manufactured. Now one thing I would say is I feel like many people used Kendrick as the magic bullet to dunk on Drake once it was "safe" to do so. Kendrick had way more Drake haters on his side than Drake had allies. The total of the West Coast was against him. That's hard to go up against.

Ahh, I get it. This is your favorite soap opera. Enjoy. Enjoy the eventual series finale when they make up and release a collab album.

No one shall be brought before our LORD David Bowie without the true and secret knowledge of the Photoshop. For in that time, so shall He appear.
Are you jealous the rich famous lady married a billionaire? It's ok to be jealous. Your feelings are valid!
FWIW, Alexis is my old boss, (pre-billionaire) and he’s an incredibly good dude. I still catch up with him every so often. Even after he was rich and married and I no longer worked at reddit, he still made time to hang. Even helped me when I was going through leukemia.

That's... A take.

You think a 17 year old and a 23 year old is.. pedophilia? Honestly?

Not only is it not pedophilia.. it’s completely legal.

Honestly.. I find Bill Belichicks relationship more disturbing. 😂 You shouldn’t be fucking someone younger than your own children 😂

I don’t know anything about Kendrick or Drake, but I love a good lore dump. That video was great, and I think it’s funny and awesome how serious people are about these hip hop feuds that I don’t understand at all.

But I gotta say, I think I’m on team Kendrick, since he obviously likes PlayStation.
