Preview Interview about the album, courtesy of rapfix.com

Recently we caught up with the YMCMB star where Drake elaborated on his sophmore album and the rotating single, "Headlines."

"I think it's great; the purpose of that record was solely to deliver a message," Drizzy told MTV News. "I could've gone with the record that was sort of super radio-friendly, but I really just wanted to talk to the people with the first record."

Rather than an emotional ballad or party record, Drake's "Headlines" details the MC's frame of mind going into his second album. Despite his success, he raps from an underdog's perspective. "I had someone tell me I fell off, ooh I needed that/ And they wanna see me pick back up, well, where'd I leave it at?"

Not your standard pop fare, but Drake, who has crafted hits like "Best I Ever Had," "Find Your Love" and "Successful," said that Take Care will have Billboard-caliber tracks as well. "I've got a lot of records that I think will live on radio for a while," he said. "I'm excited about everything that's happened thus far."

Is that the real cover? Looks atrocious, even worse than the Thank Me Later cover.

Last track for the night: Waka Flocka ft. Drake – Round Of Applause (Remix)

What is Drake talking about? Headlines IS super radio friendly. You didn't pull an Otis, son. First time I heard it I was like "Good job Drake, you made another solid radio song, this is a god way to start promo."

Anyways, I think this album is going to suck ass because I'm not a fan of Drake trying to juggle R&B and rapping all in one verse which he's trying to do in every song now it seems. Hope it doesn't though.

I used to dig Drake, but he's just becoming annoying to me now. Not sure I'll like this new album given all of the new stuff he's put out.

I don't like him but the dude has a smart deal with the record company (lil wayne must be crying right now) and this album will sell.

Drake needs to pair with another producer besides 40. All his freakin songs sound the same now. Stop getting every single beat from the producer who puts a low pass filter on every freakin track.

it's 40's gimmick and it seems to be working for both of them so far, it allows him to switch from singing to rapping more easily. They fit, but it sure is getting tiresome.

I wonder if Kanye is going to produce a track, or are they considered "rivals" now?

Yea it fits and it works great for both of them in terms of chemistry....
But when every track that 40 produces (Drake or not) sound exactly the same with those toms and same percussion bits...and with Drake singing the exact same melody over each and every one of them then it gets really tiresome. It got so bad, at one point, that basically every remix Drake got on...had a low pass filter applied to it only on Drake's verse.

Would love to hear another Kanye produced track with Drake over it, but Ye is busy as hell an doesn't seem to have very much time to produce for others anymore, I'd say its unlikely.

And let's not bring that YM/Roc beef shit up again, it's non existent and a massive extrapolation by fans and bloggers.

Based on those songs he dropped.....this album will be worst than the last one. Dude should just make an RnB album and call it a day.

Soft as an angel's ass.

This is why I dislike Drake.

His rhymes aren't very good either.

waits for an onslaught of hate

I dont know, Drake can certainly make bangers better than he can R&B tracks.

The pitfall of all his attempts at R&B are that the production on them is dry and tired, and he feels the need to mix it together with rapping all the time out of obligation, pretty much all the things mentioned previously. Drake has shit to talk about, which is good because most other R&B artists don't, but he hasnt quite found his identity in that genre yet.

Drake needs to evolve his sound. Not replace it or rehash if. That just means cut down on the 40 songs, remove Boi-1da from the equation entirely, and find a few other producers to experiment with.

Wow, Drake is annoying.

Is this serious? Or am I being trolled?

Not a fan. Then again, I hate Wayne probably more than any other rapper out there right now (lil' B doesn't even get credit). He's got more talent than Wayne but he wastes it on Young Money.

In a perfect world, J. Cole and Drake both signed to G.O.O.D. Music. There is literally no better scenario for those two rappers. Both their labels are hurting them or not doing enough to cultivate the talent they have.

Cole over No I.D. & Ye and Drake getting some production from Jeff Bhasker and Ye would have made a powerhouse of a label, especially with CuDi on the same roster.

Drake is fine really... his situation is almost perfect. Cole I can see what you are saying but Drake isn't getting hurt at all by his labels

Yea I think Ymcmb was the best place for him to be. He gets Wayne on every album and Seems like he can do whatever he wants.

Nah, just one without rejects like lil wayne and birdman.

wayne sold 950,000 in a week.. I dont like him also, but what you are saying is, in short, stupid

Birdman isnt buying 500k for Drake.

even if you really believe birdman bought 500k.. he still sold 500k in a week which is still about 200k more than ye and jay-z

No wheelchair Jimmy .gifs?

Dissapoint.

If drake pulled 450K on Thank Me Later, i'm thinking he can do 600-700K with Take Care.

It was half-joking, but i really dont understand who bought those albums. When Carter 3, i heard nothing but "wayne this, wayne that", i havnt heard anyone on facebook or real life talk about Carter 4. Either everyone bought the album and just thought it forgettable, or i just dont know any wayne fans.

Drizzy Da Gawd's doing at least 800K first week

500K of actual sales
300K of Birdman's investment

this way he puts up a major number, but not enough to outshine the star of the team and cause friction.
