what do you mean "this ccant be true"? are you saying I'm lying?
as I said, driveclub is an arcade racer. those that try to draw parallel lines with simcades,
in my opinion they dont know what they're talking about.
everybody can go right now and try this simple test: pick ANY car, reach for example 150km/h, approach any turn (90 degree is good), and just SLAM on the brakes and at the same time pull to the end of the direction you want to go (full left or full right).
car will not lock, will not loose control, it will just decrease speed and pull its face to the inner of the side you are trying to turn.
thats not simcade. thats ....you guessed it, arcade. by definition
My game just crashed and I got one of those CE error messages for just loading up the game and pressing the home button.
Well that's a first.
To be simcade there isn't a list of things it has to simulate, just in certain areas it takes an arcade approach.
Woah dude, no I am not calling you a Liar. I havn't played the game. I am just shocked to see a lot of praise for this game and then what you tell me just sounds pretty poor, and not my cup of tea at all. I thought it was a proper time trial game, breaking upto a corner and accelerating out of the apex.
We've come a long way.

This is still required. You will lose a lot of time doing that nonsense p3tran is saying to do, and at really high speeds you will just understeer into a corner if you full on brake while turning right at the corner. Braking before the turn will give better times.
So...I forgot to cancel my order for this and it turned up today. In all honesty, is it realistic to think it might become the game that was expected, or does long-term disappointment seem inevitable? Just trying to gauge whether or not it should be returned immediately.
It's sim insofar as the cars aren't flying around and doing full speed drifts around every corner. The cars all feel distinctly different. The drift mechanic takes some skill, it's not a one button affair like Mario kart or (to some extent) need for speed hot pursuit. (I love that game btw) Also, you actually have to brake, and management of that is important, whereas in many pure arcade racers braking is an after thought or simply not needed due to ultra grippy cars or the way drifting is implemented.

heh... thats like ...two generations ago?Either you are lying, or you're just not remembering how PGR plays. I don't think you would deliberately lie so I'm leaning more towards the latter. Go back and play PGR, like right now. I still have my phat xbox hooked up to still play PGR2 and Rallisport 2; I just turned on PGR2 just now and did exactly the same thing you described in a Porsche 911, full on brakes, full turn to the right, and the car did a full right turn with no wheel locks, no loss of control, the car did a full turn and went to a stop. Same thing happens in Driveclub. Driveclub is as simcade as PGR man. Just go back and try PGR.
yes, you are correct, it wont give you full turn until you slowed down some more and let go of the brakes of courseDC won't give you full turning while braking though. You need to let off the brakes for that.
a game can be fun, and also can be praised even if its not a sim or a simcade.Woah dude, no I am not calling you a Liar. I havn't played the game. you can bring up any video of LAST generation pgr (3/4) and see for youself that pulling brakes on full and turning on full together do not bring the same result as driveclub. I pretty much held a shiton of pgr records back at the time, so my memory cant be that bad.
if you insist though, I guess maybe tomorrow I can take the time to get the 360 out of the closet to make a special comparo vid for you.
When they finally get everything running... Aren't the servers just gonna get worse when all those plus users go on?
I really don't think they would release the PS+ version if they aren't confident of the servers
but I think most of the problem is in the software itself, it must be trying to connect to the server all the time thereby DDoSing the DC servers
Wow, I never thought about it like that. Sadface.

There's still quite a bit of room for improvement in the second sector, lol
Yeah, over the basic PS4 OS interface which has you enter PSN ID's manually or select one from your Players Met which hardly ever works. That may be nitpicky but it adds to my impression that Interaction with other players in multiplayer lobbies is lacking. And I dont't even care that much about inviting others, it's really more about having something to do while you're waiting for the next race to start which I'm so used to from other games. Just the option to look at player/club profiles, getting a better look at people's club badges, comparing yourself with others etc. like you can under My Club would make me happy. I don't know, to me it just seems the most obvious thing for this game to do.
Only talking about multiplayer lobbies though. The options under My Club seem fine.
Hell no, I've been approaching corners too fast more than once, did what you say, and went straight away as a result.BUT, you can go full throttle entering a turn, then slamming togother the brakes with the direction pad, and your car handles perfectly fine, like this is the intended way to approach turns.
That's your opinion, man.there is NOTHING "sim" in driveclub.
Haven't really paid much attention to this thread since launch, I've been in and out with the odd comment here or there.
The A.I. in this game is a dick.
Can't tell you how many times opponents have caught up to me down the road and literally just fucking ram me from behind, NO attempt to pass or anything. Like the cops in GTA V. I made a point last night of minding my own business in a point to point, and twice the A.I. caught up to me after mistakes and fucking nailed me from behind, sending me into the rails, once causing me to flip. What the hell. Can't wait until the servers are steadily online, I may not race offline again once that happens.

At least I was able to win one multiplayer race last night while I was lucky enough to connect....
Really like the no HUD look. Less distractions.

I liked the destruction derby going on at the beginning.
I have to say I thought club names and things would be more prominent in the MP. What's the point of a funny club name if nobody else can see it?
Well its 8:45am here, and I still can't get online.
Thrustmaster T80 and T300 are the only wheels made for the PS4, at the moment.is there a PS4 wheel w share button and all that stuff?
would be nice if there's a gear switch stick too

Hit the little plus(+) sign next to the quote link on each post you want to quote and then hit reply or quote when ready.
So a friend of mine is saying the PS+ edition is online on the US Store...
They need to either just remove collision penalties or actually enforce them properly.
Got pit manoeuvred online more times than should be allowed an nobody gets penalties.
What is the point of the penalties that are supposed to encourage accuracy when they essentially do nothing in practicality?
/post online race rage
First thing, I can confirm it worked.Anyone confirm this please
No, the way multi-quoting works. So the free PS+ edition is available for download?
First thing, I can confirm it worked.
No. It won't be added until the servers are stable and have room to spare for the influx of PS+ Edition users. So the free PS+ edition is available for download?
The evening levels at dusk, where you don't have headlights on, are tough for me to see. I guess it's kinda realistic but also not fun to be constantly squinting. I have a 58" TV too.
