Oh man. That's like having the Motorstorm Apocalypse Edition of Driveclub.
Was about to say the same, was waiting to see a small hut go flying across the road in a tornado.

Venom hot lap 2 ruined my rubber protector things as well! :/
Just buy replacement original sticks off ebay. They're cheap as chips and can be fitted in about a two minutes. All you need is a technical screwdriver and a pair of tweezers. I change mine (namely only the left sticks) every 6 or more months, just because I like them fresh and grippy.
Mine are still A ok from launch. Maybe I just caress more than brute force...

Ha Will look it up. Do they sell technical screwdrivers and tweezers too?
So I bought the game eventually.
Does GAF have any advice/tips to enjoy the game as much as possible? Are there any tweaks or settings I should be using? What difficulty do you guys recommend?
Anyone using wheel here? Latest update added Photo Mode support by pressing R3. But how to rotate the camera angle? We don't have touchpad or joystick on the wheel.
.Played the game a bit tonight, and these new tracks are fantabulous!
And I was finally able to launch the photo mode while using my wheel! Woot!
But why the fuck does photo mode still depend on controls only available from the DS4 when the game simply ignores any input from my DS4 when my wheel's connected?
The game's aware that a wheel is connected, right?
So what about making it change the controls in case one has been detected so that one standard button cycles through the functions both analogue sticks and the touch pad are normally mapped to, and have the d-pad control them?
Pretty please, Evo, don't let me down!
There are no difficulty settings in the game, except in separate non Tour events where you can choose AI difficulty. But honestly, I'd just switch off your HUD, use the cockpit or dash cam, put on some headphones and take it all in. I find without the HUD you learn the tracks more, and add to that, not having all the points and penalties show up at the top, is less distracting and more fun.
The only time I ever really need the HUD is during Drift events, where I switch to chase cam and switch the HUD back on (so I can keep an eye on how many drift points I'm getting). Bare in mind, even without the HUD you still know if you've beaten a sector time, face off or whatever, as you'll hear a little chirp. If you've not beaten it you'll hear a quiet little thud.
Thanks for the tips. No HUD is pretty much the only way for me in almost every game out there. I played some games without HUD that a lot of people call me crazy about it, like Far Cry 4, GTAV etc. I prefer checking the map than have all this mess breaking my immerssion.
Thanks again, tried a few races yesterday and thought the A.I. was easy and quite forgiving, but I guess the pain comes later in the game. I hope it doesnt get a lot frustrating (although I heard they tweaked the insane drafting of A.I. in straight lines).

Rushy, please don't remove dynamic weather from multi ply TT plz! These guys just can't handle the pressure! 8)
Imo it depends on what you expect from the game. If you're looking to relax by playing a beautiful game then cockpit view with no HUD is the only choice. If you're playing it to beat scores and earn all stars then it's better stick to an external view. You might also keep the minimap on the screen until you memorize all the tracks (or at least the closed circuits without corner flags).
I did all the stars and so forth in dash cam/cockpit view with the HUD off Only one's I turned them on for were Drift Events and now and again corner challenge stars. Average speed offs and drift stars are pretty easy, as the starting line shows up even if you have your HUD off. Yellow grid for average speed off, orange for drift.
Yeah, there you go. That must have been it. A ghost race would be cool but ... is it really a race? It's essentially a TT at that point, so I think this mode makes more sense. Either way, nice idea!
Japan's clouds are incredible, with some fantastic godrays.
Presumably there are wet races later in the series?
Only in the DLC Elements tour, and single events / multiplayer.
It remains to be seen if any of the upcoming tour DLC's contain weather enabled races.
So do I sir, so do IReally hope they do mix in weather. Maybe not as difficult as the Elements pack though.,
The new multiplayer time trial mode is the best thing I never knew I wanted. I have never had a racing game where there were so many different and interesting things to do. Do some tour events, do some challenges, create some challenges, hop online for a time trial event, play around with the photo mode, check my past drift events to make sure I'm still at the top of my friend's leaderboards, or just do a single race just because I want to get used to some new courses or a different setting on the weather or night cycles. There's a lot of distractions in this game.
Or, like I did late last night - set a full wet time that beat everyone else's dry times!Ha I do really like it actually, it reminds me of qualifying in F1 - it's just a bit of a bugger if you've done a stellar wet lap at the start of the session (that arguably takes more skill) then everyone beats it as the track dries out, but that is pretty realistic for GP qualifying.

Wow, impressive!
Does anyone fancy a GAF mp time trial event around 8.30 / 9pm? We all join the same party chat (it does 12 doesn't it?) and split into two parties of 6 in game - as we're in the same chat party the team leaders know which server to go for, and fingers crossed we get put in the same lobby... Anyone up for that?
L2 is your normal brake, O is your handbrake. For drifting you want to use the handbrake since it's more severe and will put you into your drift. For normal cornering you want to apply your normal brake before you begin your turn, then slowly apply gas as needed until you come out of it and go back to full speed
I really don't know how to drive so I don't really know the difference between normal brake and hand brake...
I ain't trying to be too picky but why is it a lot darker abover the rainbow compared to below.
Viv, it's best if you get an adult to do it.
Mom, is that you?
Awesome. Love your GIF's and comparisons. Surpised you haven't posted some shots of Japanese blossom trees and greenery etc close up yet.
That would definitely explain the major connectivity issues if that were the case as I was streaming at the time. There was a bug where MP would fail whenever you're broadcasting your game from the PS4.
Didn't see it addressed in the release notes, so...
