Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

I was wondering why the free "test drive" version wasn't on the PS store today :( BOO!

Its terrible on my Ps4 at least. Ive got a 100mb connection and I need to wait between 2/3 minutes after receiving a message to actually being able to read it.
My friend lists loads slowly, the store too,...

That's not PS+, that's PSN. I've been getting the slow messages recently, too :(
Store is fast, though.

I actually really enjoyed Road Not Taken. It's like chess but with a story.

I agree that Velocity 2X, Don't Starve and Resogun are amazing. I haven't played much of Pix The Cat though. I might have to change that :)

Back on topic, I'm really hoping that the PS+ version of Driveclub is released this weekend. I feel I've been mostly patient haha. Screenshots and gifs tend to make me feel a little less patient though!

Amazing game man.

I'm anxious for the PS+ version myself of course. Been hyped about DriveClub for a long time. Just can't afford any games atm. But I got plenty of games here keeping my attention.

No, just have them make more Motorstorms

A Motorstorm game on the PS4...

They should've canned Evolution instead of Sony Liverpool.

Yes, I said it.
They canned Liverpool because they are a mid-size development studio. Yoshida even said that new consoles make it difficult on mid-size studios, where they are not big enough to make a full big budget retail release game, and they are bigger than most developers making PSN/download only games, which put them in a difficult spot. For the PS2 days/handheld development, Liverpool size was okay. SCE WWS only wanted to focus on having larger studios for their retail releases, which is why they had to go.

Another thing I'd rather have is the option to play this game offline and not be forced to wait for it just because the online portion is so spotty.

I get it, they'd probably get a ton of shit of they released it and said "sorry, no online for about a week guys" but you could Atleast race and earn fame etc. Like I said, I get why they did this and I'm partially cool with it but at the same time I think they could've handled it differently.

This really would've been nice. I would've liked to have played vs AI and in time trial modes.

I was about to post they should increase the number of tracks included in the PS+ version to help make up for the delay, but that might just piss off people who were on the fence and ended up buying the full game. Hmm...

I said that I thought this weekend was crucial for the playerbase. Looks like they won't make my arbitrary deadline. I guess next weekend will really be pretty do or die for them in terms of satisfying paying customers.

People who bought the game should be compensated in some form. Free season pass sounds like a good compromise. I'm waiting for the ps+ version before I buy this game, I want to try before I buy. I'm glad I didn't spend the 50$ for the game or I would be pissed.

That would've been very nice, but from playing the game and seeing how it's handled it would've been pretty much impossible to do right away. The game automatically tries to connect to the servers all the time for all of the different random challenges that pop up. It would've required a patch for just the PS+ version, which would likely take just as long or longer to pass through QA/authentication.

Get out of here with that crap. Evolution has made a TON of great racing games. Neither studio's output should have resulted in them getting closed. I'm looking forward to many more wonderful games from Evolution in the future (hopefully more Motorstorm, rally, or the resurrection of Jet Moto).

I mean....at least give them weather. lol.

This really is the most bullshit thing ever. The fact that the paid version is up screams annoyance. Delay the whole thing then!

Yeah, I really hope those of us who have already bought the game get something in return for this. We'll probably get nothing though.

All 20$ indies, pix the cat...lmao

pix the cat is one amazing little gem of a game and most of the time the best things in life are free, not that im suggesting PSN+ is free...sure you gotta pay for it yearly but a person would be a damn fool to say you do not get your money back plus more by paying for a yearly PSN+ script....even more so if you use more than one sony gaming device. It's by far the best service as far as bang for the buck, hands down.

Edit: Also i really understand the situation here, its something that happens once in a while and while i do have the full DC game i am totally cool with playing single player. Also some people are a little more impatient and no so understanding than others and im not knocking them...just saying sometimes having a bit more patients gives you a less stressful life.

Nope, would have liked to try this weekend but it seems to be weeks rather than days away. But, who knows, maybe things will stabilize quickly.

Im sure tons of people that bought the full version wont come online until the weekend, this could be a pretty bad weekend for drive club.

Oh well, I guess I wont be able to play the Plus edition on my 3 day weekend, totally let down by Sony/Evo. :(

I'm not getting this Canadian thanksgiving am I...
The sad thing is this is a perfect example of a game I want to try before buying. So had I had access to the PS+ version I may have already been swayed to purchase the full game.

Everyone who's upset about the Driveclub PS+ edition delayed should just play Pix the Cat while you wait. Game is so good you'll forget all about it

That fever music mmmmmm

This is a total disaster :(. Delays on top of delays, months without info, sporadic footage, and now this. Evo just couldn't get it together from the get go with this one. I've said it before, but I sincerely doubt Evo will be around very long after this, combined with the performance of their last game.

I honestly feel embarrassed just reading about this whole scenario. I'd have loved to try the demo myself just to see how pretty the game was and get a feel for it, but after this week it's got no chance of fitting into my gaming budget. I already wavered enough considering this game over the past few weeks, and I decided to hold off and use the Plus edition as a decision maker instead of blindly buying the game. I imagine many others are in the same situation, more or less, and I don't think mocking or deriding Evo makes much sense; I just feel badly for them.

...and the people who actually paid for the game, yet still have to deal with server issues. That's where the "embarrassing" part comes from, not the lack of a timely Plus demo (though I don't blame others for being pissed about that).

I'm still cautiously optimistic, but for practical reasons I'm continuing to wait for the PS+ Edition. This hasn't been smooth by any measure.

Cannot believe the PS+ version is still unavailable. The lack of meaningful communication about the delay or when to expect the promised free version is quite simply unacceptable. Get your shit together people's patience is running thin.

I agree. They need to make another statement of when users can expect to see the PS+ edition. If it's not going to be ready for another week or more, then that wouldn't bother me if they came right out and said it. They should have the courtesy to say something to calm people down and paint a realistic picture, rather than remaining silent and irritating people more.

The fact that they continue to sell the game on the PS Store isn't helping.

This isn't Sony's fault. It's Evo. They shipped a product with an online feature that is crippling themselves.

The last time I checked, Evolution was fully owned by Sony. I don't know whether the blame should lie with the programmers at Evolution, or the people at Sony Computer Entertainment that manage the online servers (and could pay for maintenance and/or additional hardware). Regardless, pinning the issue on "Sony" covers all of the bases.

I see an argument that Sony should have given better oversight to the project. Regardless, the blame is entirely and specifically on the Evo programmers who created a product that DDoSes their own servers.

There's being angry and then there's throwing a tantrum. I can understand the former but sadly, your post falls into the latter. Calm the hell down. It's not the most bullshit thing ever and delaying the full version would be even dumber than the current situation.

Regardless, pinning the issue on "Sony" covers all of the bases.

And pinning the issue on humanity in general will also cover all the bases.

Saying exactly who's mistake it was does not reveal less, it says more and is more conducive for proper discussion.

A year late, no weather effects at launch, no game at 'launch' for ps+ no servers to play on. Man why am i getting BF4 chills... I guess we wait for the epic patch in 6 months from now so we can all play the final final game. All hype deflated due to server fiasco :/

Next gen cleary aint ready yet, best stick her back in the oven and gorge on the goodness that is meant to be a year from now!

I have little to no interest in this game anymore. They really messed up with the launch of this game and I just...can't be bothered to wait any longer. Maybe I'll play the PS+ version at some point.

Will save my money for November.

That update is such BS. Sony needs to amputate this gangrenous studio from the company before it further destroys more of the little goodwill people may still have towards the PS4 and PSN.

If the server problems are this catastrophic, did Evolution not gain an inkling of it during the alpha/beta? Why didn't Evo push the game back until they were sure it would run as intended? I was there for SimCity, I was there for Diablo III, but I have never seen a game rolled out in such a disastrous fashion as DriveClub. I have a copy pre-ordered, and I have no doubt I will have a blast with it once it arrives Monday, but I feel like a lot of people have probably been turned off to the game by these rollout issues.

This may be the case, though it makes me sad to say it because I can tell that Evolution is amazingly passionate about what they are doing. The initial intentions seemed very good, but the eventual execution could not have been worse.

I would actually say if you just own a PS4, PS+ is dubious at this point in regards to "getting your money back plus more". This whole first year the only 2 Plus games I've actually played through are Strider and Outlast. I guess they were like $15 or $20 to buy, so it's almost a wash, but yea, lets not sit here and pretend PS4+ is this great unmissable value (like I would say it is or has been on PS3 and Vita). We will have to see if things improve in the future.

That's my point. Do we know exactly who is responsible?

Sony Computer Entertainment is the publisher of the game. They are the parent company of Evolution Studios. They also operate the PlayStation Network, on which this game operates. It is evident that there are failings on multiple levels of SCE. This could be an issue of miscommunication, or just plain mismanagement. SCE oversees both Evolution and PSN, and as the umbrella that encompasses both of these entities, they are ultimately responsible for the quality of the product that bears their name.
