Sony says it will continue to adjust PS Plus pricing as more players choose higher tiers

Didn't have a sub for about 6 months but just renewed essential during days of play, was 63.99, I still have MP games I want to play, but im really sick of having to pay for this shit,

I believe the usb transfer is not the case. When you do a backup you can check save games only.
Yes, but it backs up all saves. You can't easily play a game on one console, and then transfer only that save to another.

With PS+ cloud saves it's automated. But Xbox, and PC have free save cloud sync.

With the ps5, I only had the very first year of ps plus. Then I canceled it. I think I had it again for a month or so inbetween. Strangely, I always had it active before that. But I can't say that I would miss it either.

And with the different ps plus tiers, they have completely lost me.

Is this a recent feature? In the past you absolutely could not back up saves to USB. You can for PS4 games, but not PS5.
No recent feature. But keep in mind it's a system backup and afaik you have to restore the whole system when you intend to get back to the backed up savegames.
Like I said, not a good option but better than no option at all.

  • Insert the USB into your PS5.
  • Go to Settings > System.
  • From there, System Software > Back Up and Restore > Back Up Your PS5.
  • Select the drive you want to back up your data to.
  • Check the box next to the data type you want to back up.
  • Select next > Backup

Since I have old HDDs lying around here anyway, it wouldn't make sense not to back up the system from time to time. Speaking of which, backing up right now.

Does not restore the whole system when dealing with save data. However it does backup/restore the entire user data. So restoring to a new console you transpose the entire user, and consequently if back to same console - it will overwrite the user there.

Honestly, I've never actually restored anything before - just backed things up.
So does that mean I can back up my x-amount GB of save files (without games, screenshots, or videos), and when I restore the save games later, it only restores those, while the already installed games, saved screenshots, and clips stay as they were before the restore?
So backing up 500 GB of games would be pointless?
I was under the impression that the system would be reset during a restore - and that by backing up all the data, I could save myself from having to re-download everything.

Correct, no need to backup the actual games.
