Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

I guess the month is over and Sony broke their promise to give you 6 + 1 games. We should take to the streets and protest this bullshit.

All these pages later and do people still not get that they did promise the game yesterday, and a simple notice of delay would have been enough for the majority of reasonable users?

Is this the second straight Evolution game that was damaged because of Sony's servers?

Did they not issue an announcement. I'm pretty sure I saw an announcement. Granted it I was 8 hours after it was suppose to appear on the store. An announcement nonetheless.

Then again if they did some testing before hand they'd've known their servers would shit the bed.

I think this could be resolved if we have the Playstation crew kneel and ask for forgiveness on a live stream. A sincere apology is all people have been asking for in this thread, and I don't think that's too difficult to provide. If kneeling is too much, maybe just stand.

Except that's not what is happening here. You are getting all of the free stuff, less a PS+ version of Driveclub, which is slightly delayed due to peak usage by the people who purchased full retail.

I can connect to PSN just fine. Nothing else is broken. Sometimes people DO overreact.

Agreed, but still a let down, I bought the D.C. yesterday and it's very addicting (much better with the racing music turned on imo). But the key component of the game of online racing and creating clubs was never turned on, at least not where I am yet.

This whole thing is over blown. Yes, people deserve to be pissed. Yes, it sucks even more because we are paying for service that isn't being delivered to it's fullest. Nothing is perfect. Shit happens. It will be resolved. Let's not start a war or argue over the semantics and principles of "entitlement". We're better than this.

While the Driveclub facebook page had an announcement on it I find it terrible customer service that Sony themselves have been completely mum on the issue. It is SONY's store, not evolution's. Sony should be the responsible party here when the issue is game availability on their store.

This really is par for the course though. Sony never jumps out in front of issues to curb customer frustration. Instead they remain silent and maybe occasionally giving vague details about potential issues. All of this outrage is really Sony's fault for the way they consistently mishandle service issues.

Was this the same way The Last of Us multiplayer on PS4 was handled: meaning, the connection issues?

On a side note, this is another reason why I think full Digital Distribution pales in comparison physical games. So far the games I personally would have liked to have preordered, I don't think they've unlocked at midnight, it was just faster to drive 4minutes to best buy, buy the game, come back home, put it in the PS4, and 20-30 seconds later I'm playing the game.

Sure, a let down. But s*** happens, right? I am sure that Sony isn't doing it to piss people off. I honestly can't think of a single major release that depended heavily on servers that launched smoothly.

Yeah there's been a few but I honestly just expect server problems at this point with the launch of any major game. The conspiracy theories are crazy. It's hard to know exactly what will happen when a game goes live, even companies with huge experience in this area still have trouble at times.

It'll be fixed soon and in a few weeks no one will even care that this happened.

didn't FH2 have server issues last week for a couple of days? VIP passes issues not giving out cars and finish line syncs problems as well.

stuff like this happens, as long as they get fixed soon, is not big deal.

Respectfully disagree and that's illogical, Sony owns the store but it's the developer that makes the game and submits it to Sony to place on there story for purchase. It would be silly to expect Sony to apologize for Bungie, if Bungie decided to delay Destiny.

I hope they get it up before the weekend.
I was hoping to show it off to a house guest coming in town, but as I'm pretty lousy at driving games I'm not willing to pull the trigger on the full game until I try the + Edition.

That said, I feel like despite this game launch mess it's still a good look for Sony to still even offer the PS+ Edition. Seems to me the PS+ Edition was designed specifically as a system launch incentive first and foremost; i.e. sell more systems last November with the push of a free AAA driving game.
When the game was delayed well beyond launch, they didn't take the free PS+ Edition off the table. The original arrangement will be honored, regardless of the (almost) year-long delay.

So yeah... PS+ Edition is temporarily held up, but we're still getting it. I'm happy about that.
Then again, I don't have as much hype/excitement invested in this game as a lot on GAF do, so I'm probably a lot more forgiving in this case. :)

That's about 14 hours after the blog post when the store update was finalized.
That's not 8 hours.

I was able to play online day one on Forza Horizon 2. And every day since. There were issues with online livery sharing and car clubs but those were on and off for the first two days. The multiplayer/free roam worked from the get go. Hopefully Evo gets this sorted quickly

ah I see. so not 100% down, but there were issues.

You seem to be advocating for a passive and unresponsive consumer. Personal responsibility here is frankly irrelevant Not that the conspiracies are good things, but it remains Sony's fault. They put out info about all the other PS+ titles. They mentioned the release of DriveClub itself. But they never said anything specifically about the PS+ version. That's terrible PR, that's terrible consumer relations. Any backlash they get remains entirely their own fault. They're a big corporation. They should know better.

No, I'm advocating against nonsensical theories like "This isn't a network problem, but a plan by Sony to get people to buy more copies of DriveClub", which has been posted multiple times in multiple ways by multiple people. I'm also advocating against ridiculous assertions like 'Sony should give us X,Y, and Z in recompense for this."

But I see we've already got 'arrogant sony', 'gonna sell my ps4', and other wonderful posts in here so it's clear it's just pure irrational forum meltdown at this point.

It worked good for the most part but there was problems, I couldnt join a free roam session for the first 2 days.

Grumbled the whole way through my Destiny raid yesterday about this game not being up. FFS. Are they delaying it to ensure features are properly removed or something? I'm pretty disappointed. PEACE.

But...Evolution is owned by Sony...
True, his statement the way I read it sounded like he was making a general rule no matter the circumstances. In my eyes that goes too far.
Also, your a developer aren't you? Serious question... Evolution is the developer and Sony is the publisher, I thought it was the developer that sets up the servers funded by the publisher. If that's the case, wouldn't this come down to Evo not seeking enough server capacity, and not Sony not willing to fund it? From that point of view it make sense for Evolution to formally apologize and get things fixed.

Glad to hear that was the case for you.
Nothing worked in Forza Horizon 2 for myself until Day 3.
