DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

I wake up and one of the first things I do is watch that footage again.

Been following this game since Feb last year reveal, and I can't believe how amazing both visuals and handling have been overhauled, as if they were working with apes then threw them out and actually start working on the game themselves =P.

My wife is mainly a FPS/Fighting game person and I showed her the weather in Driveclub clips and I felt the moist drippin from the screen onto her body. Lol, and me being a racing fan I tried to slip in a, "Hey well maybe we could play GT7 too when it comes out" I was quickly dismissed like these 20 seconds clips =(

It's an arcade racing game, so it's easier to achieve that graphics than on an FPS or freeroaming title, but no doubt it looks great.

Not really... the lack of details in the car paint and cartoon-ish cars and bad trees give it away.

Still, really nice looking racer. :P

Doesn't matter if they release footage now or a week before it comes out. You can still only play on the day of release.

yesterday you commented on my post on the other thread that "its a really old joke" to make.
came out I was right. and you were wrong.
but you still do the same thing to others today.

do you think its bad that people ask for proper footage?

Not sure if serious.

How do laser scanned models with awesome lighting become cartoon-ish looking, is this some kind of parody of a previous FH2 comment, as I could see it being applied to what we've seen from that.

I believe that Evo have already said that the paint will be replicated with the appropriate layers of paint and lacquer.

I know people are just tag quoting you, but really? Bad trees? Cartoon-ish cars? Lack of details in car paint (how the hell do you even see this)?

I can't tell if you're purposefully trolling or not. Please tell me you are. Because out of all the criticisms you posted - I cannot see any of them in that clip. Opinions and all, yes. But its a damn strange opinion.

Is this a genuine post? Because this is a genuine question.

The car and the paint itself have unrealistic detail in reaction to the rain.

They're attempt to show the wet paint is literally smearing and lightening portions of the car, which looks silly.

Also, you can hardly see any details on the rear-lights. It's just a red oval with a dark red blob in the middle, no details.

Also lots of Jaggies on the back windshield.

The trees don't even really matter because it's a racing game and they look amazing in motion.

I'm not sure why people are finding trouble with what I'm saying. I'm not saying the game is bad looking, I think the game looks incredible and is a really pretty racing game, I just don't think it looks "so realistic it could pass off as real life." :P

And how does that counter the fact that we should have gameplay footage?

Leaving aside that there is gameplay footage and plenty of it, why? Why 'should' 'we' have gameplay footage?

You could just wait a couple of days after release and see then. Or just just download the PS+ one.

There certainly isn't a need to build hype for this game - 1000+ post thread that is 90%+ positive here, 120k YT views in 24hrs according to Bamelin, for 2 'measly' 16s clips.

So?

There are a million recent vids for DC in the wild. There are a million vids for TLOU in the wild. Imagine the PS4 version of what you see to be more polished visually.

Just looks jaw-dropping. I keep forgetting we're getting the PS+ version, which is great considering how packed October is.

And please, stop quoting that stupid ass console warrior.

From the picture you showed it's nearly identical rain effects that are on the cars in the game. You're the only person who thinks the lighting looks "silly", and I don't even know what that means.

Also, you can hardly see any details on the rear-lights. It's just a red oval with a dark red blob in the middle, no details.

What are you talking about? Pause the video right after the car passes in the first few seconds, it's not just a blob of red and dark red. The vid isn't even a direct feed and relatively low quality and I can see the little lines on the top of the rear-lights that are in the picture.

You're making these claims based off a terrible quality gif.....dafuq?

Hardly any detail on rear lights? Umm -

Watch 1080p footage of that gif, you can clearly see individual drops of rain running up the hood of the car. Try watching something other than a low quality gif before saying such things.

And the trees....they look like trees. I don't see what could be considered bad about them, at all. Are you shitting on this game just to shit on it?

Son, you're treading on some mighty thin ice here. Claiming lack of details and jaggies in a heavily compressed footage is just moronic.

Speedy, I wonder why you're even in this thread. No really.
Can't you just let people enjoy things? You have made quite the name for yourself on this board as is. Let it go.

Game looks amazing. Can't wait to play. I hope it lives up to my all time favourite non-sim racer, PGR4, which I also thought looked amazing for its time.

And sorry if this has already been answered but does anyone know if this track is based off a real location in Canada?

What would Infamous second Son look like with this engine o.o you could actually see "foot steps" in the rain. There could be an actual down pour like real Seatle's weather....mmm wet wet wet

wet dreams, wet me.

All the tracks are based off real locations iirc, so yes.

Fair enough on the paint thing then - personally, I can't tell what's wrong with it. The motion of the car, along with the level of rain makes it hard to really see what's going on. That's what cars seem to look like when I drive in the rain. The screenshots below from E3 detail the cars at a higher level of detail (assuming this is representative of the final product), and the rain details look fine. One of the screenshots also show rear-lights that look fine, to me. I think that's the video which gives them a blurry appearance. Jaggies - sure, if you can see them there. I only noticed the powerlines, but if you say so. Its too blury for me to tell.

You listed points why you said it was bad, some wanted you to expand on it. That's a forum. Naturally though, I'm skeptical of your posts due to your past reputation. And sometimes the things you say, when no one else can see it, sets off red flags. You're judging the quality of multiple small details on a compressed .gif of a Facebook video. That's why people will call you out.

EDIT: DieH@rd just posted all of the screenshots that were previously released of the weather on the previous page. I tried to select the ones relevant to your points, but the rest also paint a good picture of what its like when not compressed, albeit through some sort of photo/replay mode.
