DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

This is Dirt 3:

This is Dirt 3 even DOWNSAMPLED for you, so I'm even giving it a GREATER leg up.

You can view the gifs in this topic or the gamersyde non-compressed DriveClub videos without the weather to compare. If you believe this looks close all I can say for you is genuinely I think something is broken with your vision.

Looks exactly like I expect a last gen videogame to look with all that ground clutter sticking out of flat textures.

How the hell do people think this looks better on any way?

It has nothing on GT5, or Shift2, or NFS The Run, or Assetto Corsa, or Beamng, or Spintires, or

No, I mean it's similar to a 17 year old arcade game. Advances don't stop at graphics, you know.

The way the car moves in a game, the engine that handles physics it's technology too. And this one raves NFS2, I used the same method in my own dissertation, more than 10 years ago.

Indeed, how?

Because you're incapable to understand the post was partly about physics AND partly about graphics?

GTAV, GT5, PGR 3 & 4, Grid 1 & 2, Dirt 2 & 3, pretty much all the recent Need For Speed games.

I mean the graphics aren't that far above the games I mentioned.
Higher LOD backgrounds, high res textures & 1080p withstanding.

These guys are trolling right?... RIGHT!??

I see nothing that would warrant this hype for this game on these videos graphics vise, instead the more times I watch them the more problems I discover in the graphics. At some places the mountain is a simple flat surface, there are no roadside objects apart from the trees, and some traffic signs here and there. The water effects look good, but that's not new technology just an old one used well. Or should I look at the fog effect? We had that in '96 on a Voodoo1. The car models don't look better than in GT5.

I was interested in this game a few months ago, but as release draws closer I get put off by more and more things. Especially the lack of physics. It is devolving steadily since the first teaser videos, if the trend keeps up we'll get a criterion nightmare.

Is that GTA 5?

That is literally the opposite of what's happened. The game has done nothing but looked better and better each time it's been shown. Dafuq is up with you guys?

Mud tracks with those cars? Would be a nightmare.

Obviously they'd have to add rally cars, would be crazy not to.

It'd also give us the sequel to Sega Rally we both need and deserve.

Are you high? What the fuck man.

Lay off the shit man, it's seriously messed with your head.

I don't understand the hype for this.

Looks o.k., nothing mind blowing to go crazy about.

Like the same thing we seen from higher end racers all throughout last gen, only with higher res PC like textures.

Maybe I need to see a direct feed to be more impressed (but then again, it's 30fps).

Then you go on to quote GTAV which runs at less than 30fps as shitting on all racing games? Does the 30fps argument only work when talking about DriveClub, but not GTAV?

GTA V pretty much shits on all racing games when it comes to car physics, destructibility & all around weather variation. Rain, drizzle fog, snow (use the cheat codes), freezing ice rain, sleet, thunderstorms and visible wind conditions. All real time to boot.

Nothing comes even close.

Lol, I just, I ..........can't. All in glorious 720p at 20fps. Awesome brother. Awesome!

No, it looks better than Driveclub. #dealwithit

come on these guys are really fucking in on this together, right? He's comparing the fog effects in this game - with the fucking dynamic global illumination creating some of the most realistic lighting ever seen in a racing game - to the fog in a title in 96 on a Voodoo 1. This is real fucking life.

I'm missing out on some meme here, right? I'm not in on this joke, correct?

U wot m8?

Why do Sony game threads attract these ridiculous posts?

Not to be rude but... you and that other vato better get some prescription glasses MUCHO PRONTO.

I've never driven into a signpost before, but I'm assuming it does a number to your car and slows it down significantly.

Does any game do this properly? Or is that what actually happens when you run into a pole at 60mph?

How can anyone look at those gifs and think GTA 5, GT5, NFS (lol), Dirt 2/3, Grid 1/2 come anywhere close to those? You gotta have some fucked up eyesight to say that with a straight face.

Good lord. I'm not even blown away by these videos, but the effort by some to downplay Driveclub's graphics is just laughable.

This is easily the most impressive looking driving game I've seen, and some of the best graphics, lighting, and weather effects in any game.

Looking forward to seeing some higher bitrate and longer videos.

Why do you guys keep asking this question? The answer is simple: they're being disingenuous. They don't believe this they're Here to troll.

Wait, are you talking about the physics or the graphics?

Wait until you see the graphics when it will run on the actutal console real time, not some dev rig 8x oversampled. I thought PS4 have no AF, but those videos sure does look like they're running with some filtering.

This confirms a series of joke posts, no? Surely?

It's running on a PS4, Rushy confirmed this weeks ago (for the footage in the first gif). I'm presuming it's the same for the second gif, too.

Also, the PS4 has AF in plenty of ga.....

Dammit, I'm feeding him, aren't I?

i can see the thread title change already
"DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada [Trolling=Ban]" :/ and it only took 34-35(?) pages

Hahaha, good fucking lord. You wrote a dissertation on fucking need for speed physics engine or some shit. Please, sound like you know what you're talking about.

Why do Sony game threads attract these ridiculous posts?

I've always thought that people are especially quick to pile on against Sony. I think in the larger company conversation, Sony has been hurting for awhile (ever since the iPod, Apple has sort of displaced Sony as the 'it' tech company), so it's certainly not an unpopular opinion that it's an old, tired giant struggling to find its legs. It's an easy target. Microsoft's products are still so popular with the mainstream that I think most people have a level of familiarity and respect for the company, at least unconsciously. Though I suppose since the rise of mobile computing Microsoft's image has also been tarnished in the mainstream...so who knows.

I've read about legendary GAF threads way before my time. I feel like this could be one. All they need to do is say some more outlandish crap and then announce it was all just a hoax, then i can proudly say i was part of a legendary GAF thread.
