Driveclub "the new" footage in HD

You really notice the motion blur plus dithering effect here 2:48 into the video... Dash in particular.

True, I wonder why the dithering is there?

On a side note, it's crazy to me that the headlamps are lighting the smoke realistically. Also noticed the lamp posts actually emit light in a realistic way. Also evident in this screen I posted earlier.

EDIT: Just noticed the shrubberies and vegetation to the right side are all fully geometric too.
 
The IQ looks pretty bad in those videos.

For me, IQ can make or break a game visually.

Everything else looks good (nice detail, lighting, shaders, car interiors) but it just looks so jaggy :

Is there any AA at all? If not hen it is probably not added yet, or turned off in this build. It is a few months away yet, time for them to add AA and polish


Edit: could hat dithering be down to some kind of temporal blur? Like killzone but checkerboard rather than strips? So it lowers the number of pixels they need to process with heavy blur and hopefully you don't notice while playing?

yea there is some AA in there for sure. The stuff near the car looks really clean, I think 2XMSAA perhaps?
 
I assume they didn't play AC4 on Xbone. Or Battlefield on console.

I really do like the quality of the light in this game, it's quite remarkable

With you on both and yeah the lighting is stunning. And the sense of speed is fantastic.
 
Looks pretty good. I wonder if you'll be able to tell the difference in sensitive between the brick path, the dirt path, and the road.
 
You probably played the E3/Gamescom build, the AA problem isn't even close, on that build even road lines were awful.

Yea, it's considerably cleaner than back then. Really the bulk of the aliasing now is in the power lines. I'm sure they'll be able to sort that by release.

The aliasing has moved from being everywhere and mainly on the road (Gamescom), to being really only on the back of the car (October), to now really only being noticeable on power lines lol. I guess they're still tweaking.
 
Tha game looks fantastic. For those who just saw the Maserati video, I highly recommend watch the Pagani race. Both are amazing, but the Glenmorgan track seems a little better!

I would like to see a better AA treatment till release, but just if that mean that they will keep all the rest... otherwise, I'm happy with it that way. The tracks are very well done (theres no racing game that worked at them that much) and that lighting effects are top notch! The sense of speed is also great!

The frame rate is pretty stable too, I didnt noticed any frame rate problem there. It runs smoothly!!

Thats the experience I'm looking for in a racing game! Im really satisfied to see how much theyre working on this game.

yeah i've been watching again. Good AA would make it insanely beautiful. It allready is, but the jaggies are ruining it a bit.
 
Looks nice but I prefer the style of Forza 5 and GT, much more realistic feel (imo). This seems more along the lines of a NFS type racer visually (not that that is a bad thing, just not my thing).

GT7 will be the one to watch on the PS.

i dont even notice it on powerlines, only on cars, especially inside when different lights reflect on edges... for powerlines to be noticable, game is too fast for me.
 
I'm pretty disappointed. The game seems not fun at all, uber generic and with no "souls", but I was still interested just at the technical performance.

And well, it's pretty annoying that efforts put on some very cool stuff (lightning, sky etc) are litteraly ruined by aliasing.

Now, my interest to the game drops to 0 :(. My opinion of course.
 
The dithering is low quality transparency anti aliasing. You can apply this to games with the nvidia control panel on PC, but there is also higher quality super sampling for transparencies. I figured all games would be using alpha blending for their foliage because it looks so nasty without it. Hope this is fixed later along with proper AA for the whole scene.

edit: edit: oh wow, just noticed the low quality blur when they switch to an outside cam. Hope the image quality improves in the final product. It's not like the game is coming out soon.

The dithering is because the render quality of the motion blur is low. The previous builds had higher quality.

It's more apparent against dark backgrounds, so in this case during the night time racing vid you can see it more.

I personally think the motion blur in the October build was much better. I know someone else on here disagreed, but I'll have to agree to disagree. Not that I'd really notice the dithering in racing, but the motion blur from the previous video just made the game look and feel slightly smoother overall. Though lighting wise I'd say this new build takes the cake.

See, thats what Im thinking with Driveclub...I dont care if its kinda pretty or super pretty, if they remember how to make the game fun like MSPR was, its all gravy. The online races in that game were so much damn fun...getting harrassed by monster trucks when driving a dirt bike...so good

How do you put 'souls' into a driving game? The multiplayer contesting club rivalry is going to bring the spirit/soul/tulpa/whatever human element, not the graphics. It's not Mario Kart.

I am super excited after watching those properly. Just imagining cruising through the mountains with a friend listening to sweet music drifting and racing....with DAT LIGHTING my god! I cannot wait to get my hands on the time of day/weather thingy. Excite I is.

same thing happened to motorstorm 1, the game looked like utter crap till tgs 2006
 
Lighting looks very good but the aliasing is very noticeable and the low quality motion blur can get nasty at times. That being said the sense of speed is great and the game looks like a lot of fun.

Fully dynamic lighting, beautiful tracks (which we know to expect from Evo's history) and what looks like decent, tight racing. Now I've been really pissed at the radio silence on this game, but is it any wonder they don't want to release anything when they do release stunning footage and all you guys bitch about is power lines? Do you really look at fucking powerlines when you're driving at 150 mph?
 
Finally had a chance to watch the HQ videos. I need to watch them both a few more times to work out why I'm just not feeling it. I'm impressed by the tech and love racing games, but for some reason it's just not happening. Don't know why.

If Evolution improves the AA and motion blur, then this game will look absolutely more gorgeous than it appears now. Can't wait to see the final build and their next games.

This one is special. People, especially nib95,are posting this pic constantly for years now to prove "something", whatever that is. Besides that they are simply wrong.

a) the game looks exactly like the supposedly worse build. You can, right now, go to your PS3, start PR, choose that track, set daytime to midday and what you see there is identical to what you see on the "qore" build. I pointed that out and proved it several times, nib95 knows that.

b) even without that prove, it would have made no fucking sense to relaese a worse, older build to convince the public to buy the game than the build they gave months before to the press. There is no chance in hell that would've happened.

c) even on these screens, the righ Qore build looks better. The lighting is just different because of a different daytime seeting. Everyone who actually played the game knows that.

PR Is probably my favorite arcade racer of all time, I played it to death. I even liked apocalypse. But that whole "Evolution is so amazing at polishing the last two weeks before relase" bullshit is simply a myth that is with GAF for 5 years now for NO reason whatsoever, except that people like nib95 are constanly posting that shitty pic and everyone goes like "ooooooooooohhhh the lighting".

Forza have a souls, Need for Speed, Burnout, WipeOut, Motorstorm has a souls.

I feel like this game have no "personality", it's just realistic cars with unrealistic driving, with generic environment. I feels no "little something" that attract me, this something which says "i'm not just a racing game, I bring [insert something cool]".

Need for speed bring speed, burnout bring crazyness, Forza bring simulation, Motorstorm bring mud, Trackmania bring awesome rollercoaster tracks.

What bring DriveClub ? Sorry I don't see it yet. But it's may be just me, I complete respect people which find this game attractive. I just don't understand them for the moment.
 
I'm glad they are starting to release HQ game footage. Youtube is terrible, the more detail on screen, the worse the compression is.

Looking forward to DC, I need some roads to race on

A strong team multiplayer focus: it brings racing clubs, hence the name DriveCLUB.
