That's what I said. No respect for equality of life on these threads. The same basic rights afforded to people such as freedom to live and love are denied for animals because they're seen as nothing more than resource. It's no not really surprising I guess that people hear 70,000 dead and not care what it is. They seem to want to place living things in an arbitrary hierarchy of value of life instead of revering all life. It's almost as if they were equating life to a dollar value at some level. I wonder if they know that in the black market, a large tuna goes for more than a human. I'm sure most here would find the idea appalling that someone would value human life as such yet here they are devaluing the life of others.

i agree. its shameful and ignorant. very sad.

We can spend a billion dollars to put a probe on Mars yet this depth of human knowledge can't even create one cell of life from inert minerals but we have absolutely no reverence for the death of 70,000 fellow inhabitance of Earth who breath and have a will to live and may probably have hopes and dreams. We've subjugated an entire species and called it "domestication". It seems that bish isn't the only person here with blood on their hands.

The natural history of the chicken is a great documentary and well worth watching on youtube, amazon, or netflix

I'm fascinated by shit like this. But I would like, in your words, to hear why you love cock so much.

well played. In terms of chickens, I am interested in the disconnect between the importance of the chicken to civilization and the relative disrespect they receive from the general public.

As for my tastes, I am more of a polish frizzle man myself. :)

That's the most beautiful cock I've ever seen in my life. And I've been on the internet for years.

The property owner discovered the dead chickens Saturday morning. He told investigators that without power, the chickens will begin to die within 15 minutes. The birds, which were due to be delivered to a local processing plant the following day

Oh, the irony

Not true. I've personally raised poultry for years. If breeders could stop females natural tendencies from "going broody" believe me, they would have. It hurts production. Instead, you have to trick the females into not doing it by regulating light, temperature, and other things.

not the chickens I owned. but then again we let them run around all day long.

Psshh... why would we have mercy with animals when we have slave labour to work for us in other countries. We enslaved millions of people and call it free capitalist market. The coffee we drink, the electronics we depend on, the batteries we use, the cars we drive, the exotic food we eat all year long... all of this made possible and affordable by a new accepted form of slave labour.
Why weep about chicken when we don't even value humans as equal?

My mother had some of those at home. But she had to get rid of them as they became increasingly violent towards our other chicken. Pitty because they were very pretty to look at.

My uncle raises chickens and I'm not entirely sure of the cause of death but on hot days you have to constantly keep the chickens moving or they will cluster together and suffocate each other. I don't know what this has to do with power but maybe something along this effect?

I'm not even going to try and claim I know the first thing about keeping that many chickens, but that seems pretty damn odd that the power being off for 15 minutes could lead to such an enormous death total.

Is that really all it takes? Some drunk dude hitting a switch and BAM, 70,000 chicken are dead when you wake up.

Edit: I know the power was off for more than 15 minutes, but that still seems ridiculous.

"Natural behavior" is a stretch. They've been conditioned that way.

Pretty much.
I have not read a more stupid post than that. He is pretty much saying that battered cages is a luxury and natural for chickens. They do actually move too and enjoy sunlight and eggs (yes they eat their own eggs). They can also feel pain both mentally and physically. Amazing isn't it. People dont realize that chickens can live up to 15 years which even most dogs cant. Yet we end their lives in a few months or less.

Human lives are more valuable than any other species of animal. Because we say so, and they remain silent. Because animals are dumb.

Animals are dumb because they remain silent? What sound logics! I think it is dumber to use that logic that animals are dumb because they are not like us. Or was this sarcasm?

It is surprising to read something so well thought for once. I like you.

Weren't they gonna die horrible deaths anyways? After all it was a chicken farm. I've heard they actually have it quite worse in those places sometimes. Maybe he did them a bit of a unasked favor.

With him, you never know. Between this and trolling all religion/spirituality threads on a constant basis (and getting away with it, needless to say), he does not seem like someone to take too seriously in any thread. Still not using ignore function because it is fun every once in a while, but not with things like this.

oh really are we going to equate human lives to animal lives now?

Aren't we animals anyways? and besides

We do that for police dogs.

In many jurisdictions the intentional injuring or killing of a police dog is a felony, subjecting the perpetrator to harsher penalties than those in the statutes embodied in local animal cruelty laws, just as an assault on a human police officer is often a more serious offense than the same assault on a non-officer. A growing number of law-enforcement organizations outfit dogs with ballistic vests, and some make the dogs sworn officers, with their own police badges and IDs. Furthermore, a police dog killed in the line of duty is often given a full police funeral.

Wait what i can get chickens for $0.30 eye opener.

We have like 20 chickens over here dad loves to have them for what ever reason.
They sit like for 18 hours in a shed which is 4m by 4m and when they are allowed to run around for like 6 hours all they do is sit on the fucking garden furniture and leave chicken poo all over it. They don't really move a lot from my observations.

/cry when i sit in poo because they shit on garden furniture.

Wow.

Chickens are birds whose natural brooding (look it up) instinct has evolved to the point where they will choose to not move from one spot for 21 days at a time unless you actually trick them into not doing it. That's what they fucking do all by themselves. Eggs or no eggs.

This isn't something I'm making up. It's been a fact known by anyone who knows anything about chickens probably for the last 3,000+ years humans have been living with them.

You just compared a house designed around that natural behavior, and the natural capability of the bird...to a concentration camp.
Wow.

Hhahaha dude you probably didn't saw any chicken farms in life.

Good. The chickens were going to die anyway and at least this way they got revenge for how they were treated! Those awful battery farms should be made illegal, poor chickens.
