DualSense Edge - Features Trailer | PS5 (launches on January 26 for $199.99)

It's because of the fucked up weight distribution, most of the weight is in the top area with the triggers instead of properly balanced, also all that rumbling and trigger force can fatigue your hands in ways you don't directly notice adding to this discomfort. Some people on here also mention the way the controller curves down there is a slight lip on the plastic edges making that uncomfortable, there are multiple sources here.

After playing on my friend's PS5 for a long time I find the weight distribution of the controller really makes it less than ideal for very long sessions.
I really like the controller but those plastic bits where you index and middle finger rest can be uncomfortable and was something I noticed within 20 minutes of using it. I was even considering filing that shit down.

At that price I might as well buy a Series S instead, seems like better value (and this is from a representative of team Sony, although not a fervent one).

Quality reaction tardcum post on ResetERA:

199 dollars including tax vs 240 euros.

Fuck you Sony.

Get your head out of the sand, get off the internet, and learn more about the real world by living in it. America MSRP does NOT include sales tax because each state has a different tax amount depending on the classification of item being purchased and even if you buy it brick-and-mortar vs. buying online. Euro includes the tax because of VAT (IIRC).

Like holy crap, this is kind of general knowledge and you don't even know it 🤣

Anyway, my own thought on this? Doesn't bother me. This is a premium product for a premium market, so of course it was going to be priced high. I saw that coming from a mile away. If you're balking at the price as being too much, you were never the target customer demographic to buy it in the first place, it's that simple.

This thing could be the Ferrari of premium game controllers but people want it priced like a Dodge Viper or Corvette, you're only fooling yourselves 🤣🤣
🤷‍♂️

Elite Core is brand new too, and only came with an RRP of £114.

Sony are pushing it IMO, hate to be the meme master, but smells of launch PS3 era the current pricing strategy.

The two are not similar. PS3 was intended as a mass-market mainstream device that you practically needed in order to even get the PS3 experience whatsoever. The DualSense Edge is a premium product for a slice/niche of the PS5 customer base who are okay with paying a premium for a premium/luxury item. It is in no way actually a requirement to have a DualSense Edge in order to have the PS5 experience (same as the Elite controllers are not a requirement to have the Xbox Series experience).

That's a massive point of distinguishing going on here.

It’s very expensive, but if they try this shit with PSVR2 then might as well bin it because last I heard they expect to sell quite a few and also expect to sell games for it.

Once you get used to a controller like this you wont use a standard controller again, especially if you play shooters

My previous PS4 controller lasted from late 2013 until 2020. So I might get this one if I feel so. If it has soft analogs I would buy it, as most ones now are kinda stiff to my liking to avoid drifting that happens to noobs that are shit in gaming and fight their controllers to compensate for their lack of skill and finesse.

Just as a point of comparison; the Elite has 2 extra paddles, comes with a premium charging stand and also has a real world 40 hour battery life. I can’t believe this has the same 10 hour battery as the base Dualsense.
Yeah now this knowledge has come to light I'm not so keen now. That's pretty bad.

Sorry how much in the UK? I'm not that impressed with the Dual Sense as it is (I have 3 all have some kinda issue) but compared to the Xbox Elite this feels lacking in some ways

I do this fairly often. Depends on the game.

Examples: FEAR = KB+M. Battlefield = Controller

100% depends on the game. I play a lot of Warzone and I want to play on Mouse and Keyboard and I often do but Aim Assist on the controller is sssoooo outrageous that I always end up going back to it.

I feel like some games are just better suited for controllers, CoD being one, Gears another and I could never imagine a Driving game on KB and Mouse

Would agree with you but the Elite is infamous with its issues so they have premium everything except the controller itself, which is what matters the most. Also my name is Mo.

Especially if you keep moving aim assist gets stronger as compared to camping

I know these aren't made for broke ass people like me.
But more than twice the price of regular controller for those features doesn't seem worth it to me. Hell I'd rather save up an extra $100 and get a Series S to play MS exclusives.

I looked up the price of an Xbox Elite Series 2 in UK and it was 159. Why is DS Edge so much more expensive in UK?
from the MS store?

Amazon UK has it at 142 but MS hasn't updated MSRP's despite the FX changes whereas I assume Sony have built it in.

Dumb and also almost fun fact, the series s pre-tax sales price is the same as the edge controller in Japan. Unfortunately the sales tax fucks it up, there is like a 20 usd difference between the two.
