Also: well, Launchpad got hit with the dumb bat. He's beyond dumb. He is funny, but holy guacamole is he dumb.

Launchpad was always dumb. But in the original DuckTales he was also brave. In Darkwing he was turned into a cowardly sidekick. But no, he was always a bit of a fool.

The show has been pretty good but I really want to see more Uncle Scrooge and more globe trotting adventures.

Good episode but the last two episodes have been disappointingly Scrooge-less.

Next episode will have copious amounts of Scrooge, Donald and the ducklings. Also Gladstone. There's a preview on TV rotation but so far I haven't found a recording or direct-stream online source of it yet. It's been like this every week, not sure why no one bothers to upload it until the day before an episode airs.

For an episode named terror of the Terra-Firmians there was very little terra firmians =P

Emphasis was on the 'terror' part. Pretty sure this episode's purpose was to introduce us to their existence. We're going to be seeing them again at some point.

Launchpad being dumber in this episode didn't sit well with me.

Good episode this week, wasn't the biggest fan of the previous one. Lena is starting to come up on her own (in "Massacre" I was more endeared by the effects she had on Webby than by Lena herself) and low on smarts as Launchpad was, I was won over by several of his gags. "Just in case" killed me, as did his mind malfunctioning when presented with the possibility of handling a vehicle -without- crashing it, then his satisfaction when he inflicted that fate.

How the Guidebook was handled left me with mixed impressions. I'm all for the idea of Huey not relying on some object to take all life choices for him, but it came at the cost of robbing the mythical piece o' Duck lore much of its mystique and sense of wonder. May as well have been a generic"general survival knowledge" type of book.

The door's definitely open for them to use the Terra-Firmians proper again, here's hoping!

Mark Beaks' episode was pushed and we'll have House of the Lucky Gander this upcoming weekend. Which is -excellent- news far as I'm concerned; it seems like it'll be a Donald-heavy episode, and he's been absent for three episodes in a row now! Crossing fingers they can channel some of the hilarious rivalry between Don and Gladstone a lá Barks.

New episode was alright. I didn't have a huge problem with the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook not mentioning the Terra-Firmians, but Huey adding his own entries to it felt like borderline blasphemy. Plus, if he was already adding entries, why was he so insistent that the book not mentioning something meant it didn't exist?

Going more by its portrayal in the comics, where that small book contained the answers to everything and anything. Impossible, sure, but then that was the joke and the appeal. Showing it as incomplete and mistaken from the getgo rubbed me the wrong way, way to rob it of its charms! To me it was the equivalent of naming Scrooge's fortune in real world numbers.

A minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, though.

In this incarnation, I think the implication is that he's afraid of the unknown, so he used the JWG as an excuse to not check if there were Terra-Firmies. He adds to it to track info he's gathered for himself. He also seems to prefer to stick with explanations he knows, hence running with the earthquake explanation.

Hopefully the show is being front-loaded with more kid-centric episodes to try and draw in the younger audience before going heavy on episodes starring an elderly, cranky, impossibidillionaire. Scrooge is already my six year old's favorite character, but he played the WayForward remake a few years ago first and then watched the original TV series on DVD.

He is the defacto jerkass in the Duckverse and if they do downplay that attribute from the getgo that's gonna crush so many (hilarious) story possibilities!...

But of course this is premature judgement based on just a few clips.

Nostalgia aside so far i think this new show is better atleast it is much funnier. When i try and watch the old episodes the humour often falls flat and is too kid friendly in a dumb way.

Writing is often very good in this and it shows alot of respect to the old source material

Can’t agree with the sentiment that this is better than original. This is off to a slow start getting us accustomed to these characters but not knowing when to move on to the McMuffins that are sorely missed. Today’s episode was entertaining yet pointless. Man, I felt really bad for Donald in that episode.

Especially with the sequence of gags of Gladstone getting $20 bucks and causing Donald to be on the brunt of his good luck.

But I did laugh at the gag that Donald's luck is so terrible, it basically caused that Frog to lose all his power and send him back to whatever dimension he came from, hotel and all. Also, the two ending gags with Gladstone buying a solid gold yacht for 130 Yuan ($20 dollars) and seeing that cricket to be not all that glamorous was hilarious.
