I doubt I'll be able to see this on IMAX, but 70mm should be the next best thing.
And people said you couldn't make a PG-13 war movie.

This movie isn't gonna open big, but it's gonna have terrific legs I think.
How do these three story strands intertwine, by land, by sea and by air? It hurts to say it, but not easily. This is why I consider Dunkirk a worthwhile frustration, buoyed by some genuine mastery. As powerful and exciting as Dunkirk is, at its best, I found the time games self-conscious and vexing, and in the context of a fictionalized true story of thousands of lives lost, and hundreds of thousands saved, the structural gimmick feels, well, gimmicky.
Yea I'm surprised it's that long too.SPR's D-Day invasion was 29 minutes?
The reviews and descriptions have me thinking of the host of a podcast I listen to (Battleship Pretension). He's not a big Nolan fan and has felt that Nolan isn't really aware of what he does well and what he does poorly.
This sounds like he's locked in, finally. Nolan won't be known for his incredibly rich characters or smart dialogue but holy fuck, can he pull off spectacle and awe. Can't wait to see this.
And people said you couldn't make a PG-13 war movie.
For me, it's been Wonder Woman, then It Comes at Night, then Baby Driver, then Spider-Man, then Apes, and now (seemingly) Dunkirk. So good.
You dont need gore and blood for tension and suspense. I think the difference is that most war movies revolve around combat, so the notion of a war film without the gore amd blood that tends to come with battlefields seems ridiculous. And people said you couldn't make a PG-13 war movie.
Should I watch Dunkirk at a regular theatre for $5.50,
Or IMAX 70mm for $21 + convenience fee?
Both.Should I watch Dunkirk at a regular theatre for $5.50,

70mm is the pinnacle, it is IMAX?
Yep, this year has been great so far and we still have more great movies for the rest of the year as well! This train started with Get Out. This is turning into a pretty damn good year for movies.

70mm and IMAX 70mm are two different things. It's confusing.
The fact that 70mm imax dunkirk is only available in a few dozen cities in the world you should watch it in that format.Should I watch Dunkirk at a regular theatre for $5.50,
