Damn thing wont eject. I pressed the eject button on the front, right clicked the drive in Windows Explorer and chose eject and the busy light would go on but nothing would happen. I did manage to get it open by pressing the eject button a few times while the computer was booting up (before Windows begun to load) but then it wouldn't close unless I pushed it shut. After i pushed it shut it wouldn't open again. I uninstalled it, restarted and reinstalled it but the problem remains.

WTF is going on here? Help me.

i think you're right

i managed to get it open again just by pressing the eject button over and over again. of course it wouldn't close again, but when i pressed the eject/close button i could see a little cog inside trying to move but the tray wouldn't close. luckily it's still under warranty.

Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-108

Good coincidence, I have the exact same drive.

You are in Australia, have you tried to flash it to a new firmware to make it region free? Could it have turned out bad? Then again, maybe flashing it to the latest, official firmware (or even an hack), could do something, but be REALLY cautious with this.

You've had this for how long? What did you do with it, did you burned many DVD-Rs? I hammered mine since august, and it's done nothing but good to me. Maybe you got a faulty drive, but then again maybe you could get it working, if you dare that is. :)

it's definitely a mechanical issue. i haven't done any of the stuff you're talking about to make it region free or whatever. i'm not going to try and fix it for fear of voiding my warranty.

Okay, I just wrongfully assumed that you tried to make it region-free becasue you were in OZ and talked alot about imports. I think then you should call Pioneer Australia ASAP, or the dealer you bought it from. Sorry again. :)
