Dying Light IOTI A dead island on the mirror's edge.

either those night time fuckers have A LOT of health, or the 1700 dmg on my shotgun is grossly exagerated. took like 8 hots to kill 1 :/

No point in duping the EXPcalibur when you can just use the blueprint. Plus money isn't an issue at all in this game.
I got the blueprint for the. Expcalibur but the amount of parts needed to make it is crazy.

Anyone else have framerate issues when playing coop? That shit can get ghastly sometimes

I might get this today but i want to know how the coop works first, is the entire game playable in coop or is it a separate game mode like in Uncharted games? Cause if that's the case i won't buy it.
Actually I am more interested in GAF's opinion of Dying Light. I am curious about the multiplayer. Is the game worth buying? Is the multiplayer fun and lengthy?
So, after the tutorial, it's just unlocked. There is no co-op multiplayer "mode," it's just the whole game, drop-in/drop-out. Seamless. All the progress/items whatever are all retained back in your own game. Owl jumped into my game randomly last night, and tore the place apart with an electric hatchet or something :p
I am basically looking for a replacement for online coop gaming because my friends and I are done with Destiny. Would the coop for this game be a good replacement? Any recommendations for a replacement?
Well... sorta depends

This is a great game if you just want to fuck around with your friends and make each other laugh in funny/awesome scenarios with zombies. I'd actually be stunned if it was not the clear #1 best game in that category.

On the other hand it doesn't really scratch the same itch as Destiny to any degree, it's more the kind of thing where you'd explore, play through the story and side missions and mess around a bit and be done with it, i.e. not hundreds of hours.

Volatiles? An enormous amount. There was an awesome video of pancakes chasing one down and murdering it at dawn while it was all weak and had already been hurt multiple times, it takes forever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVFSVb5xGjo

even though buggy I am still considering picking this up purely for the meta game potential in single player and coop.

that, and if the devs keep working on it post launch and provide creative updates, this game could be pretty amazing

Was fun and I tried to not make it too broken. You sprinted, ducked, dodged a zombie, drop kicked a zombie lunging you, and hopped on a car then vaulted over a wall to the next objective. I followed, you, walking idling by, as I swing my blade and slice each zombie you ran by in half. When I caught up you had climbed up a hill and carefully scaled up a building. I shot a single grappling hook and caught up. Was fun.

11+/11+/11+ Nighttime
mostly I don't care that it's night anymore, with the grappling hook. I use sense a lot to see where the enemy is and looking, and can sneak past/around them easily. it's still scary when you get spotted, but if/when I do, it's simple to get away via the grappling hook. lots of narrow escapes at 10~ health, but I haven't died to a nightstalker in a while.

then I decided to cheese a few. I lured some to the home base, then ran out swinging. my weapons do enough damage that I can kill one and run back inside before I die. by then a second/third one has come close from all the noise. I heal up and repeat. I think I burned through 15-20 healing kits and 3 repairs of my weapon, but gained 2 levels of combat and maybe a level of agility. I think my weapon had either 250 or 390 attack, I forget which weapon I had on. now I have a 600 attack weapon and can kill one away from the safe house if I'm crazy, but then others come and I will probably die and it's not worth it. still better to run

big story spoilers
this is all about the slums and not about old town. haven't tried anything there i'm sure I'd get mauled

I've tried going through the GAF Steam group looking for people who are playing this game and adding them to my friends list, and I've only found like 5 so far.

Add me, I wanna play co-op: Conkerkid11

It's better to just sneak up on them and use the "takedown".
Kinda weird , it takes a few hits with a 180 dmg weapon so your shotgun should 1 shot kill them :O

Quick question -

Can this game can be played off-line and single player?

I'm assuming yes but since I keep seeing drop in/out co-op, I want to make sure as playing through the single player campaign and off-line is what I care about. Thanks.

Yeah, fun stuff for sure :) I love that feeling of an air drop interrupting whatever you're trying to accomplish. "Squirrel!"

I'm already getting to that point without it, I operate without my flashlight most of the time, and just take things slow and carefully, occasionally firecracker or what have you to control the volatiles. Successfully clearing out a safehouse without attracting any attention is just bliss. Love the "unnoticed" bonus.
So, if i run out of repair charges is it over then? No way to refill charges?
Yes, do not tether yourself to worldly things

My biggest problem during the night is all the virals(the fast ones during the day) They spot me really easy, i was on the bridge super high and they still saw me, i had to be almost 20-30 meters above them.

No way, unlike Far Crys world, this one felt very much alive. Everything moves, every tree, every cloth, dust and paper moves through the air.

Far Cry tried that but felt very stale, everything seemed a little forced. I liked the game, but Dying Light did it much better.

Edit: it felt alive apart from all the dead people I mean.

What really makes the difference in my opinion is that Dying Light is a proper open/sandbox.
Usually, during a mission you can twist its formula as you want, going seamless from exploration to combat, then stealth, then using traps, then parkour, ecc. without breaking the mission or game design.

Anyone else unable to invade other peoples games? It loads and everything but as soon as the game starts it says the the others (humans) have disconnected and that I should try again later?

On X1 btw.

weird, I guess I've been lucky. Haven't really encountered many virals at night, and one I do remember I just outran and lost it.

I am really enjoying this game. I didn't care for dead island but this is very fun. I have been playing coop with 2 other friends. Its fun running around together. I love how dark night is. very tense when you are running around.

I managed to kill three last night. I'll upload it when I get home.

I can kill them easily by base camping, but out in the open seems really difficult. Especially if another one wanders into your fight.

You haven't experienced any crashing? Or is that PS4 only?

I have a question regarding weapon rarity/durability

For a weapon like
XPCalibur
does it ever respawn when it is out of repairs and breaks?

Love the little references in this game. I just had a
Lord of the Rings
one where I was escorting this guy to find
the ring of power, "one ring to rule them all!"
haha this game is great

Is it? 20 hours or maybe more into the game and I haven't had a crash.

People who are quite advanced in progress:
how did you feel when you met your first Screamer and had to 'silence' them?

I usually roll with the same group of 3 and the same person crashes every time after about 40 min playtime sometimes less. It's frustrating as heck, hope they patch that soon because having to invite him back every time it happens is frustrating and I know he's getting tired of it. This is on PS4 btw.

I got there with a party of four and that lessened the blow. If I was alone I probably would have considered uninstalling, fuck that lol

A friend has the Euro Austrian version and I have the US version, we are both Germans, can we play together on PS4 or are there any server restrictions? Has anyone tried if the versions are compatible?

Great game so far. Only did the "Gazi and his mother" quest with a friend and explored, but traversal & combat is a lot of fun. Sound design is also top notch, only a few hours in, but I kind of "miss" the Euro jank of Dead Island. :)

I had 6 volatiles die by jumping off a bridge into the water below where I was swimming haha. It was funny shit to see, usually they just sit there and spit acid, but swimming around makes them charge at you and fall in.

This game is amazing. I've got the PS4 version and honestly, it looks ace. Everything is very fluid. I only notice some drops in framerate when I become an idiot and attempt to fight a group of zeds. What really sealed the deal for me was the sound design and soundtrack. 80's techno/synthesizer beats straight out of Romero's zed flicks. Everything in the game feels "alive" though most of the inhabitants are dead.

While playing co op with my brother last night, I mentioned that this game felt like Techland finally "got" what I've been looking for in a zombie survival/action game, the likes of which DayZ and H1Z1 hope to achieve. A sense of dread when nighttime begins, safe zones, traps, crafting, seemless co op, roaming hordes, dynamic events, etc.

Such a well done game. Props to Techland and Warner Bros for finally delivering a zombie survival game that feels polished and built with a lot of love. I mean, to be able to read individual dvd titles off the shelves in game is bonkers!

Volatiles are super easy to kill. One grenade kills them outright, just perch on the edge of a safe zone until your weapon appears again and just keep killing them.

You can insta-kill a Volatile on spikes. I had a sword with 1700 dmg which killed them in three hits but now it's gone. Expcalibur is quite weak in comparison with some high level weapons.

I have. On the XB1. Its random when it does. I only had it in coop twice. I played about 10 hours in coop. It would repeat a sound and shut down the game. It was in a normal situation when it crashed, I was jumping off of a fence.

I met my first Volatiles last night, in the first mission that sends you to night time. Two of them were on me and I tried to run...screwed up and ended going between a wall and some stairs. Dead end. I turned around and started flailing with my basic pipe weapon which kept them at bay but I ran out of stamina fast. Then I turned on my
UV light
and opened up on both of them. They
glowed red
and I hit them a few more times and then backed up when I ran out of stamina again.

Somehow I ended up under the stairs and up a hill and the volatiles couldn't see me anymore and started wandering off. I watched them on the minimap and then boom, achievement for killing a volatile and one of the minimap vision cones disappeared.

Somehow the combo of full
UV light exposure
and a few hits was enough to kill one when he wandered off.

I ran into a random one before you run into one during the story, so that lessened the blow.
But the entire time I was playing, I was thinking about all of the zombie types they used from Left 4 Dead, and the only one I hadn't really seen was the Witch.

After having played Dying Light a number of hours now, I have a new title for it (I made it)
Amazing. And exactly what I've been thinking, after comparing it to Titanfall.

This game is fucking awesome. The parkouring, the combat, the atmosphere, god damn. Well done.

The story is kind of interesting but the dialogue is atrocious at times. I've been acting like this is just another RE and the main character is actually Chris Redfield. The dialogue definitely reminds me of RE at times with its over the top aspects.

Hopefully it's not necessary to spoil this, they FLIP out if you hit them with a direct UV blast- more likely than what you presumed is that one of them blindly ran off a roof or something and fell to its death.
