Brawl was unveiled the day after Nintendo's shitty conference last year.

PErhaps it is you who has a short memory?
No, it is you.

Brawl was unveiled the night after Ninty's 06 keynote, the one that KICKED ASS.

So, this private conference is real, then?

...cautiously optimistic, just in case.

Please...something to wash out the bad taste of yesterday's conference (although voice chat was a nice suprise).

So it's BELIEVE time again?

This is the same thing as where they last year talked about Mario Galaxy for an hour. Since the AC guy is here and it was shown as "the coregame" at the conference, it may just be a developer walkthrough of that. Keep your hopes low.

Agreed.

I expect AC. Still my inner fanboy wonders why Nintendo wouldnt say thats what it was... Thinks about SSBB announcemant... Thinks about angry fans...

Naw, its just fucking Animal Crossing.

They explained it very well: their games remain on top of the charts for months, even years. Why bother release a lot of new games in that context? Sad truth.

Do you forgot what they said right after that? If we don't move forward, people will get tired of what's being offered very soon. Hence new games/pheriphirals. And in the case of Nintendo's titles, they don't get in the way of eachother, they are mostly in different genre's and will keep selling regardless of new software. So that only means that Nintendo would infact sell even more millions and millions of software.

Ok in my opinion every game shown on the conference yesterday will likley have the potential of being a million seller except for Wii Music. Casual games usually are super easy so they can be played by everybody but how can we play Wii Music? All the Wii__ stuff have some certain gameplay, scores...etc but Wii Music have none. Do anybody think that (like other Wii__ games) it will be packed with an accessory to ensure it sales, Memory Solution?

Bah, I'm selling my Wii if Nintendo doesn't have a big suprise in that private presentation!
Don't sell it, destroy it! It mustn't get in the hands of a casual gamer, there are enough already!!1

Nintendo just showed up to this E3. Think of it like a childrens party - everyone you know brings a toy you like as a gift. Nintendo's the rich kid who brings a gift voucher and goes "Yeah here buy what you like"

So basically, people at Nintendo now aren't working because old games continue to sell well.

Nintendo will absolutely boggle our minds with sheer awesomeness at E3 2009 to close out the decade. This is 100% guaranteed after this years E3. Trust me, we'll be shitting ourselves with delight when Nintendo reveals 7-12 new 'core' games to be released from September 2009 through December 2010. :lol

Then what better time than this E3?

I mean the keynote was on the day of the 25th Anniversary of the Famicom! Wouldn't it have made more sense now than later?

oh god nintendo @ e3 2009 will be so fucking awesome. i can't fucking wait. how was the 2008 conference again anyway? lol i don't even remember anymore. whatever. when's the '09 conference start? :hyper

You're looking way to far ahead. They are saving 1:1 Zelda, Metroid Dread and FFVIIr for PAX, Leipzig and TGS

:lol I don't think I'll be getting hyped for E3 again. I think it's time to place GDC or the Tokyo Game Show in its place.

I was also very dissapointed with the software shown, but the biggest reason the conference sucked imo was because of that hysterical woman on stage.
anoyment-factor 1000
The should choose more carefully who they let up there since this whole thing really is as much about presentation as it is about content.

the wii motion+ rocked but they should have presented it along with better demos imo (starwars would seem like a nobrainer..).

don't know what was up with the dancing on stage though it was certainly fun to watch:lol :lol
ridiculouse

I went into the Nintendo conference with absolute rock bottom expectations. Surprisingly, it wasn't as bad as I expected, but not by much.

The Good
Can't wait for Microsoft to bring out a working version of the X-Speak. That'll be pretty good being able to have the whole room able to talk in on the online action over XBL.

DS getting it's props - well deserved.
Spore DS - looks interesting.

The Bad
I have to admit, when the WiiFit board came out, I was looking forward to 1080 Degrees coming out for it, so when Shaun White Snowboarding came on, I was starting to get interested. Then Cammy started playing it, and I'm like WTF? It seems like it would be good for a downhill or slalom run, but for half pipe and gnarly tricks? DO NOT WANT.

Iwata admits the massive problem that his company now faces. Keeping things fresh and keeping the casual market interested. Good luck with that one. You're going to need it, the last of your core market just left.*

NO PIKMIN3=MASSIVE FAIL

Other crap stuff and random musings
Animal Crapsing - Craptacular.

Wii game sales bullstats FTL.

Then a shit-ton of DS non-game crud.

On to Wii Sports 2 - Crap. See the core problem with the Wii as I see it (and it's been covered a million times before) is that the whole concept is flawed in design. When I'm playing games, I want to slump into the couch and relax. Not be standing up jumping around the loungeroom like a monkey.

Wii Music - Crap
Watching Myamoto simulate playing the violin with the wiimote and nunchuck made me wonder if any kids have accidentally strangled themselves with that cable yet. :(

So the endless pit of casual-friendly crud just seems to stretch on forever.

With all the money that Nintendo has made in the last couple of years, they can't even spare just one Dev team to make a real game?

* As I write this and ponder Nintendo's complete and utter disdain of their core market, I just think about all the people out there like me that made them what they are today. All the people who as kids bought SMB3 and made it the biggest game of all time. All the people who as kids bought Pokemon and made it the phenomenon that it is and saved Nintendo during the N64 and GC years. And how Nintendo hated on the core market for the failure of the GameCube, even though we were the only ones who bought it.

When McDonalds move to expand their market by having Salads and Fresh Bagels and stuff, do you see them fucking over their core market? Hell no. Every time I go into McDonalds, it's still the same fat people eating the same shit food.

With news like Dead Rising Wii Fall 2008 etc it seems more and more likely Nintendo delibertly lightened the 1st party load for last half of year to give 3rd Party room.

I don't know about that. If they were keen on giving 3rd party room, they wouldn't have focused on the casual stuff, because we know the casual stuff is going to stranglehold Wii game sales, haha.

Thats not all from Nintendo for this year (i hope). Perhaps we will wait to a Nintendo Conference 2009 (like last year)?
There has to be one more title we don't know otherwise Nintendo will have the worst holiday line-up out of any publisher this year. I think even Midway and Atari beat them.

Wait for the conference later today.

I say you shouldn't wait for any specific day or event, as Nintendo will simply reveal their games when they're ready without necessarily alerting us beforehand.

But I'd like something for the Wii this holiday season that isn't: "My first Music Toy" or Animal Crossing. In fact I doubt that NoE will release Animal Crossing this year.

And this E3 seems to focus on the holiday games and Nintendo has none...

From what it seems like to me they could reveal a game in November and release it in December. Regardless however, I have some third party games I look forward to.

And yeah, Wario Land is there of course.

Interesting how people say that Nintendo is only interested in the casual audience when, only a day or two ago, people were praising Ninty ad nauseam for developing a 2d platformer for the Wii. I guess it's the jilted wife syndrome: "What have you done for me lately?"

I've noticed that as well. I'm wondering if people are mentally unstable or something as things can go from heaven to hell in a single day or announcement. (And then back again in another.) O_o

There's a difference, Nintendo appears to be replacing the hardcore with the "salad eaters" as they are clearly opening up for more profit. McDonalds on the other hand retains their prime consumer as the "Big Mac fatass" (hence their huge Big Mac push recently) while adding add additional products to expand their userbase (McCafe, salads, etc.)

The fast food market hasn't really changed all that much, which is why McDonalds hasn't had to make drastic changes, and redevlop their business plan. The videogame market on the otherhand has, which explains Nintendo's new stance.

I think the problem is Nintendo's comment on the whole matter.
Fans: "Hey Reggie where's the Hardcorez??"
Reggie: "Animal Crossing!"
Fans: ":("

Let me ask you something: How many people on this site have said they wanted Animal Crossing? How many have said they'd buy a Wii if one were to come out with it? 'Cause I've seen that pretty frequently over the last several months. Now, if this sort of dedication to AC is prevalent on a site like NeoGAF, do you honestly think it isn't widespread elsewhere?

And for the hardcore: Last I checked, MadWorld was getting some massive lip service. Nintendo doesn't need to stop being Nintendo just to satisfy the hardest of the hardcore. If MadWorld doesn't sell the hardcore on the machine, then nothing - I mean, nothing - that Nintendo would make is going to do it (at least not that they haven't already released).
