CT | Zero will win.
That's it
pretty damn good so far. I wonder if Jeff from Giantbomb ever seen any of this since he was shitting on this community in the podcast
I did not even know Melee was this deep
I really doubt these people will ever drop melee for Smash4, good luck Nintendo

Does Jeff really dump on the community? All I remember him saying was that he doesn't really dig Smash.
Serious question: Why do you think so? Because of being a brawl competitor, and not just melee?
do you guys think Nintendo allowed them to play Smash4 like for a few days before or even a good 12 hours of getting use to any of this game?

Unless nintendo world store already has the demos and let them try it out behind closed doors, noI'm sure the will definitely play for at least a few minutes on tuesday, if not longer, but I doubt any sooner than that. Who knows, maybe they'll treat them to playing the game early on monday, but the possibility of giving out info might be too great, especially if there is content in the demo that hasn't been revealed. Sure, they're under NDA, but you never can be too safe.
I'm thinking they might have a little bit of time beforehand at least to try out the character that they 'draft' just so they know the general moveset. I also think that Nintendo will let the commentators see a bit of all of the characters in action just so they're more aware of the move names and appearances so they can give the best commentary possible during the event.
If they really want to make the game look good I would think monday would be a good day to let them have access even under NDA
still want to see how this turns out seems to be a very interesting part of E3
It's not necessarily "on the fly" he's probably the competitor that has analyzed Smash 4 the most and the most thoroughly.Thing about Zero, though, is that he's not the type that learns well on the fly (he probably has put in the most time across all the games of anyone there by far), whereas PPMD (not so much Hungrybox though) does.
Edit: though now that I think about it, PPMD/Zero/Hungrybox are probably gonna have to survive a 3v1 in round 1
I mean, as great as it would be for them to get a day's worth of practice, I also think it's interesting as a case study of sorts to see all of these people with different backgrounds and strengths play a game where everyone is on equal footing with little to no practice whatsoever.
Not sure if that would make it a better show or not, but it'll be really interesting to try and watch them LEARN to play at the same time they're competing.
I'm torn. On the one hand I want to see a really good smash 4 tournament, but on the other hand, this will be the only time we can ever get a tournament like this, where none of the players have any real experience with the game.
When did they announced the people's champion for the smash invitational ?
Is JL just some random guy?
Nah, no reason for worry. It's just that no matter what they show, aside from maybe a new Zelda, Smash is by far the biggest game they're showing. Might as well go all out in promoting the game!Anyone else is worried that Nintendo only has 1 title that is available for demoing at Best Buy? Last year they had 3-4 titles. This makes me worried that SSB is pretty much the only WiiU game launching this holiday.

Didn't Dedede also have a really easy to pull off chain-throw that was difficult/impossible to break out of in Brawl?Ok here are a couple of questions I have after playing a couple of hours of Brawl against CPUs, I'm sure I'm missing some obvious stuff.
General Game Mechanics:
1. How does invincibility on the ledge work? How long does it last? Is planking still theoretically possible?
2. Do characters still snap to the ledge ala Brawl (In other words, you clearly miss the ledge but the game is lenient as fuck)? Can every character grab the ledge even if they are facing away from the ledge? Basically will the game adopt Brawl ledge mechanics or Melee/64 mechanics? Or something completely different?
2.5. Can you still do the quick ledge grab like in Brawl?
3. Do certain moves still "freeze" time, like Zelda's sweet spot forward air or the multi-hit Pikachu down smash?
4. Is glide tossing still in the game? If so, do characters still glide as far as they do in Brawl? (I'll be testing this with Marth)
5. What are grab/grab release mechanics like? (see individual characters below)
Bowser
1. Does his crazy forward b -> air dodge infinite double jump trick still work?
Marth
1. Does his down throw -> tipper fsmash guaranteed combo still work at very low percentages?
2. Is his grab release still viable? Can he ground grab release -> regrab on any characters? Can he air grab release -> fair on any characters? etc.
Pikachu
1. Does he still have his down throw chain grab?
2. Does he still have his forward throw chain grab?
3. Can he still quick attack cancel?
Link
1. How over powered is his new meteor smash down air?
Kirby
1. Can he do his f throw combos at low percents?
Samus
1. Is she good again? Or imposter Brawl Samus?
Fox
1. Is he good again? Or imposter Brawl Fox?
Other
1. What are the alternate colors for every character in the demo?
2. Do alternate costumes, like Male Wii Fit Trainer, also have alternate colors?
3. How many taunts do characters have? What are they? Do veterans differ from Brawl?
Anth0ny said:3. Do certain moves still "freeze" time, like Zelda's sweet spot forward air or the multi-hit Pikachu down smash?
This is called hitlag, Anthony, and it was in Melee too. It's going to be in Smash 4. It just depends on how much hitlag they're going to use. In Melee, they didn't use a lot of it on electric attacks. In Brawl, they chose to up the hitlag on Falcon's knee and Zelda's kicks likely because they wanted them to be easier to SDI/DI in general. Anyway, the point is, this is a core gameplay mechanic and isn't something Brawl introduced -- Brawl just introduced higher hitlag which made it more apparent to players.
Of course there is that weird thing with Marth's tippers in Brawl where apparently you can't DI? I don't quite remember, but someone should see if Marth's tippers still have insane hitlag or not (notably Forward Smash). You'll notice it right away if there's this long moment where the opponent is still stunned. In Melee, the hitlag wasn't as much so it was harder to DI the move.
Also, I FORGOT A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION PEOPLE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY TRY TO TEST OUT:
Is it possible to DI moves at lower %s? In Brawl it was not possible to DI attacks at low %s (it's literally programmed this way, either that or they forgot the routine to let you DI moves that are weak or whatever). Not being able to DI weak attacks or anything at low % is responsible for DDD's Dthrow and Falco's Dthrow CGs as well as Sheik's Ftilt lock. I'm not sure WHAT would be the best way to test this, but try to just hold away from any attacks at low % and see if that affects anything. It might be hard to notice, so if you want to see what it looks like if you have Melee just pop that game in and just DI away from attacks at low % or weak moves in general (like jabs or any weak hitting tilts like Mario's Ftilt).
Basically the question is, can you DI during the non-tumble state? This is an animation where the characters look like they've been hit but they have not been hit hard enough to get sent into the air. Moves like Mario's Ftilt or Fox's Utilt would be best to try and see if you can DI out. In fact, Fox's Utilt might be the best to try it on because he can (in Brawl) chain Utilts together because you can't DI away from it (you can only SDI).
Does Pikachu's fthrow/down throw chain grab count? I forget if it worked the same way Falco/DDD's chain grab did.
