E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

Why would you think that? If the remake is currently in very early pre-production, I highly doubt we will be shown anything in at least 2-3 years from now.

Versus XIII was announced when it was nothing but a short CG trailer. You really shouldn't put it past Square-Enix to announce something early.

FFVII making a Phantom Menace-like comeback wouldn't surprise me. It's automatic money. Far and away the most success Square has ever seen.

Only thing wrong is that it undercuts FFXV in a big way, if it gets announced soon that is.

Yeah, but I think announcing the remake in a year (For example) would steal A LOT of the thunder FFXV currently has. I believe Square will wait until XV is released, and the next year they might tease the remake.

Let's not forget that FFXVI is also in development, according to Verendus. No matter which game Square announced, it would be swallowed whole by the FFVII remake.

Final Fantasy XV will release in 2016. So i don't see any problem by announcing the remake at it's 20th Anniversary in 2017

Square has announced multiple mainline FF games before and they'll do it again.

I was going to predict a FFXVI announcement this year, but I totally forgot to include it in my post. Anyway, I think it'll be announced before FFXV is out because, as you said, SE has an illustrious history of announcing way too many Final Fantasy games at once.

Square Enix had and FFXII and XIII at E3 one year and XIII and XIV a different year. I think we'll defineatley see XVI (based off of the Agni tech demos) sometime within the next year.

To each his own, I personally don't think he has much insider information, I remember that one long list where half the games were failed predictions and the other half was new action game, RPG game, Capcom exclusive and etc. And Uncharted 4 was obvious even I would have predicted that.

It's not ''failed'' since he didn't specifically said that those games will get announce in 2014 or 2015.

Three more weeks!

I don't know if I can wait that long!

I'm willing to bet (not really) that in 2017 FFVIIR will be announced. PSX 2016 or E3 2017 I'm guessing.

In 2017 we're going to live in a world where TLG, KH3 and FFVIIR are all known quantities is what I'm saying.

i know that in the past Square announced several FF Games at the same time...but can you really compare them with Studio of today? (in terms of prestige and popularity)
They already said it was a mistake to announce FF Versus that early and same with Kingdom Hearts 3.
Also after the backlash with Final Fantasy XIII i think this studio has to gain back the trust of the fans
Just imagine they announce a Final Fantasy XVI with a medievil setting, grounded characterdesigns (lol) and a turnbased party battlesystem - This would be horrible for Final Fantasy 15

He flat out said Sony was working on a Demon's Souls successor. I also remember him confirming the existence of Uncharted 4 awhile back. Yeah it seems obvious in hindsight but at the time many thought Naughty Dog would move to a new IP for a new generation as they did in the past.

Edit: Here's his first Uncharted 4 one: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=47055725&postcount=461

Looking back at that thread's first post, I think its pretty clear Graham McTavish's tweet was about his mo-cap work in The Order: 1886 for his role as Sir Percival. That thread was from 2013 and The Order was officially announced later that year at E3. I do hope he returns for Uncharted, though. I really liked his Charlie Cutter character in Uncharted 3 (and for those that don't know, Graham was also the main villain, Zoran Lazarevic, in Uncharted 2).

Well I'm assuming everything would be well done. You don't half-ass something like that. Final Fantasy 7 is still the defining game of PlayStation as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, but all the FFVII compilation projects have had poor voice direction as well as subpar scripts. Let's just say I don't have high hopes for FFVII Remake being much better.

And we don't know if they'll stick with the ATB battle system or if they'll go for something new, and there's always that cloud of doubt hovering above any Final Fantasy product since the XIII trilogy. Square has a lot to prove to me.

Where is this Final Fantasy VII showing up at E3 rumor coming from? Does Square Enix even have the manpower to produce Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy XV, AND Final Fantasy VII concurrently?

This sounds like a recipe for an incredible generation but the grapevine of issues plaguing Square Enix and management aren't making me optimistic.

Rumors/Speculation/Hope

I would think you people would know better then to put any hopes into Final Fantasy VII rumours.

Wouldnt be shocked if they do Crisis Core HD though after Type 0 HD.

We were talking about Verendus who predicted a Final Fantasy Remake a few times. (since 2013)
According to him Kitase and Nomura are the Key People for this project and the real work will start after KH3 and FF15 are out....So it will come out really late at this gen, if not at the End

And since 2017 is the 20th Anniversary of this game, some think (including me) it will get announced in that year

Hope is all we have left.

There could be a collaboration between Sony and Square Enix like with Bloodborne. I think that is the only way it will get done.

I feel so fucking old.

Also 2017 will also mark the 11th anniversary for that tech demo we saw in E3 2006 and still no word since then. That port coming to PS4 is the ultimate not gonna happen clue Square gave us.

REALLY hope I'm wrong

or its just milking money and pushing the market/Installbase in japan alongside other older FF Games (FFX Remaster, FF Type 0, FF 12 Remaster, FF7 Port, FF14)

Maybe. But all of those other games you mentioned are either remasters or ports. A remake is HUGELY different than that.

Also, was FF 12 Remaster confirmed?

You guys see Phil Spencer's twitter?

He outright confirmed Tomb Raider as timed exclusive.

No spin either, just straight up says it.

Anybody who has been following it at all already knows at this point but I'm glad he's moved on from that "it has a duration" line. That was some grade A bullshit and it wasn't fooling anyone.

The superman game rumours is news to me. I hope it comes true. It is time.

I envy your optimism.

Never forget.

Nintendo as a publisher has taken risks with a lot of new IPs. Project Steam recently, for example.

Nintendo EAD as a developer has taken significantly less risk, and I think that's what people are complaining about when they complain about a lack of new IPs. So I don't think Retro creating a new IP would really change that.

Just to be clear, I'm actually not one of those people who complain about Nintendo, or even Nintendo EAD in particular, being risk-averse. While Nintendo frequently leverages their existing IPs, there's a certain distinction to most of these iterations and they are typically very well mounted titles.

Still, new IPs are exciting. I would definitely be interested in seeing a more original project from Retro Studios, but I wasn't setting up that scenario as something that would placate those who are unsatisfied with the lack of new IPs from Nintendo EAD.

Yeah, maybe my memory is bad but this seems like the least leakiest lead up (try saying that fast) to an E3 ever. Obviously bodes well for big surprises at the conferences. Though of course, something could still leak out in the coming three weeks.

Verendus also double downed on Yakuza localisation back when Nagoshi was all "nah, too busy to make it happen, sorry."

Yes, Verendus doesn't have ntkrl's track record (yet), but he's been accurate enough that it's more than just random dart throws.
