EA Invite Hints at Battlefield 4 Reveal on March 26th (GDC)

BC2 was a garbage game through and through. The only reason someone would think it was a good game is if that haven't played BF2 or BF2142 before.

Gunplay sucked. Maps were worse than BC1, 32 players, no jets, small maps, no prone. BF3 is a terrible game in some respects compared to BF2, but BC2 is on a different level of garbage.

I can see that they already starting add shit on the screen and more lens flares. Also glad to see more of that blue filter on everything.

Really wish they focused on emulating real-life visibility/lighting rather than cinematic lighting (as someone in the Arma 3 thread put it).

Does anyone think their will actually be a Wii U Version?

I think it's been cancelled, or never planned in the first place.

I hope online is required for single player! Come on EA don't let me down! Also, please connect all ammo, weapons, vehicles to microtransations. Make sure you delay the PC version too.

Agh no, why? 64 players is enough.

I agree. The game is perfectly balanced for 64, except for the usual suspects such as Metro and Davaramavamadan. There are enough campy bastards as is, and I imaging the problem would get worse with 128.

Although in the future, I'd like to see 128. The maps would just need to be bigger.

Yeah, this is the only argument I would accept against higher player counts: DICE wouldn't take the necessary time to ensure it's balanced.

I hope it's a good iteration on BF3 with buildings that can be thoroughly destroyed -- the frame included. I liked the smaller scale destruction of BF3 but I also missed the progression of match where entire buildings would rubble.

The things I miss the most about BF2 are clickable spawn points and pub voice chat. Which are both gone in BF3 for no good reason whatsoever. What in the hell, DICE?

Commander mode was fun, but it was almost like playing a different game.

Since a lot of people are asking about the bokeh, here's what the current implementations of it look like in announced next-gen games/tech demos.

It comes in both hexagon/heptagon and circular form.

1.) Look at the tree.

2.) Look at the right side.

3.) Look at the sparks.

4.) Look at the left.

It seems pretty obvious that its BF3, but worth bearing in mind that the colour pallets, bokeh backdrop and font also all match up with NFS The Run. That series is usually an E3 announce though, of course.

I enjoyed Battlefield 3 so I'll anticipate 4. Hopefully they maintain a quality level though and it doesn't become just a yearly throwaway Call of Duty second where appeasing endless grind whores is secondary to balancing strategy for skill.

Please be more like 3's DLC than the base game.

Well the base game was developed in tandem with the engine so I imagine that put a lot of limits on the maps they didn't realize they could overcome until later.

Presumably BF4 was developed with a much better understanding of their capabilities from the start.

To be honest, I don't mind not having voice chat. Keep in mind that most of the people on this planet are mouth-breathing retards :) Look up 'Call of Duty / Xbox Live' for reference.

I'd rather have it and be able to mute than not at all. Once you find a server full of like minded teammates, voice is awesome.

I'm also looking forward to how much better frostbite 2 looks, and then having it turn into a blurry mess once someone fires at me.

True, but most people can't lone wolf in a jet and carry an entire server :)

Voice chat has to be back--still can't believe it was never added to BF3. Just include an option to disable it.

No I totally agree, I'm just being facetious :)

Umm... we are talking about a future game here.

I honestly couldn't bring myself to enjoy Battlefield 3, it took everything I loved about BF2, removed it, and then gave it a new paint job. A paint job that makes it very difficult for me (this isn't true for everyone) to spot enemies amongst all the fancy lighting effects, motion blur, suppression blur and lens flare. It looks amazing, but the graphics are to the detriment of gameplay and fun. I never get the same feeling of isolation and squad play that I got in BF2, it never felt like I was playing in a team in BF3 or that I was even obliged to do so. Nearly every map was far too cramped and compromises were definitely made to make the game work on consoles. Obviously there are people on here who love it, but Battlefield 2 is one of my favourite ever games and I just felt that this game took a lot away of what made BF2 fun for me.

I'd love there to be more Jets, tanks, boats, jet skis and what not. Basically take the best parts of BC2 and the best parts of BF3. More factions and more player count would also make a huge difference.

But if they do unveil it then I expect 30s video with 5s of actual footage, I'm still gonna be at the edge of my seat though.

Yes, but I don't think it would be ready for primetime with the two-year (if that) turnaround on development. Maybe BF5 in 3 years time after BC3.

Also, have you tried Planetside 2 with 1000's of players? IMO, it's garbage at this point, and they're still trying to make a game out of it what, 4 months after release?

I wonder what they will do with the sound this time. That is what I loved most about Battlefield 3. The sound of the battlefield.

last gen it was bloom. I bet it will be the one. Hope it won't be over features. Only best for cut-scene or fix camera move.

I feel like Microsoft is kind of blowing it by revealing their console so late. March 26th could be a bigger PS4 boost than the Playstation Event.

No harm in having the option,
There's a ton of harm, that's a ton more effort in server, game, and level design to accommodate a potential 128 players. All for a best case scenario of never even noticing it because the maps are so big and the players are spread out, to the worst case scenario of half of the maps feeling like Metro.

128 players is just bigger numbers for numbers sake. If you want to see what a Battlefield game looks like with a ton of dudes go play Planetside 2 and realize how bad of an idea that is.

I'd argue it's garbage in spite of the high player count--the metagame and end game is undeveloped and leads to a lot of the problems "due" to the high number of players.

Please have voice chat in game. I dont want another client chat. I want in game chat so u can tell other squads how to coordinate a strike and what not. I don't want to be forced onto ventrillo or steam chat cuz that still doesn't allow you to talk to the other squads and no, text doesn't get it done efficiently.

Give us squad chat and push to talk team chat plz
