EA Invite Hints at Battlefield 4 Reveal on March 26th (GDC)

This could become the best launch title ever! I loves me some BF3 but the PS3 version is sadly underpowered.

Also, pls pls show the PS4 version of the game! :D

The best thing to come out of BF4 would be if the story somehow leads to bf2142. Just go full on fanfic with the story. Why else would you tease 2142 in every single dlc release.

Bad company 2 was the better game hands down between bc2 and b3... hope they realize this and make the necessary changes

BC2 was the better game on consoles, as it was optimized for them. The PC-version of BF3 is solid :) That shouldn't be an issue on next gen consoles.

But they also teased dinosaurs in all their DLC. Maybe 2142 will be the first DLC for BF4 like how Karkand was for BF3.

I think Wii U owners will be the most disappointed. Current gen console owners aren't getting much of an upgrade over BF3, but they'll at least be getting the game. PC gamers and next gen console owners will benefit the most. DICE is probably gonna sex up the destruction and boost up the scale a bit, and tighten up the graphics on level 3.

Nothing in my post was talking about the Wii U. Why you felt the need to bring it up is beyond me.

The people who enjoyed BC2 more than BF3, what was the reason exactly? Also which platforms did they play both games?

I liked both and hope that BF4 is an amalgamation of the two games. My biggest gripe against BF3 was the iffy framerate and lack of polish early on. Patches have improved it but it was glitchy.

Agreed.

720p 60FPS please!

1080p 60FPS! C'mon! Believe.

I know few care about the single player in Battlefield, but I really hope that they put more effort into this one. There's no reason why Battlefield should have the same linear gameplay approach and small map approach that the CoD games have. They should be more of an open warzone like the series became known for with it's multiplayer. One of the most disappointed moments from this gen for me was the jet mission in BF3. All that build up with your soldier walking to the jet and then...an entirely scripted sequence. :/

Sorry but I hope they don't waste development time or money on a single player mode hardly anyone will play just to say they have one.

Bokeh! I like this word.

But I hope it won't on any gameplay screen, I mean I want to see whole screen clearly without moving the aim.
Maybe if only just because had to hide the teaser picture in the background, I hope.

Is it even possible? Stable 60fps with destruction and a bunch of vehicles on screen?
And yeah BF3 was glitchy at release.

Requesting this game be more like BC2 is bad idea. DICE sequels feel derivative of their last main iteration -- independent from spin-offs. Best case scenario is this game is nothing like BC2 in that DICE delivers a genuine sequel to the Bad Company series over a BF 4.5. There shouldn't be some homogeneous BF -- there should be Bad Company and mainline Battlefield.
32 players and no jets or prone?

Don't forget the horrible gunplay.

BC2 was a garbage game through and through. The only reason someone would think it was a good game is if that haven't played BF2 or BF2142 before.

Gunplay sucked. Maps were worse than BC1, 32 players, no jets, small maps, no prone. BF3 is a terrible game in some respects compared to BF2, but BC2 is on a different level of garbage.

This. The gunplay in BF3 is outstanding. It just feels perfect. Sure, there's the instances of getting hit behind cover, but it doesn't bother me. Internets and all that.

As I've said before, BF3 is the best game released this gen.
Let's hope DICE ignores all this nonsense for BC3.

The only thing is I still want B2K maps in BF4. I can still play them forever. Well other than wake which similar to BF2 is broken by jet balancing. Talk about a true remake lol

They probably might have some nostalgic first day DLC .. also, they will definitely have Wake Island on there

I assume they want more destruction, since the base game in BF3 didn't have nearly as much.

Makes sense.

More health/higher TTK
Better balance among the classes. Was ridiculous to give the revive button, health, and the best weapons to one class.
Less homogenized guns. It will probably end up the same couple of guns for meta anyways, but guns in BC2 did different damage.
And the AT4/Dart were awesome.
Bring back some of the cool BC2 maps as a free update. Oasis, Laguna Presa.

Separate from BC2:
Fix the damn netcode.
Port in some fan favorite maps from BF3 for free. Its the same engine, more free maps increases the size of your playerbase, who then buy more DLC.

Agree with you on all points except the bolded. I thought BF3 Hardcore was the perfect amount of health for a shooter, more than CoD but less than the bullet sponges in BF3 Normal / BC2.

I found the netcode in BF3 to be way better than BC2 as well.

BF: Heavy Rain Edition

Please 64 players on PS4!!!

1080p locked at 30 should be good enough for me

This!!! Please give a meaningful SP for once. I hope next gen puts an end to heavily scripted SP campaigns with corridors upon corridors and cut scenes at end of each corridor.

I played both games on PC and BC 2 is the superior game, BF 3 feels slow and very clunky with all the excessive super slow animations for everything. Also BC2 is very very balanced, BF3's engi is way too OP and for some reason the game doesnt lend itself to teamplay.

I was so excited for BF 3 because I just assumed bigger is better but boy was I wrong, after 50 hours of BF 3 I decided to give up on it cuz I was just not having fun.

I expect land, sea, air, and possibly space warfare in this. Imagine you fight some guys on a boat, you get a call from one of your friends, he's being bombarded in space by enemy spacecraft, you get in a plane and fly up into orbit in real time and arrive to save him.

That would be awesome.

BC2 coined the term "Rambo Medic".

I loved BF3, and I don't get how people say BC2 was better when BF3 does everything that does but better. I can't get back into BC2 these days with the restricted movement and worse gunplay.

The vanilla maps in BF3 weren't the best but all the expansion maps have been good for the most part.

You can be Rambo anything in BC 2, go look at sniper montages on youtube, God I miss the throwable c4 and the radar ball in BF3 :(, recon gear is useless in BF 3.
BF3's recon gear is useful for recon. What it's not useful for is camping in a single spot and racking up the kills.

This. BC2 is just a lower budget BF3 game. BF4 will probably be even grander.

128 players, massive scale and 720p/ 60 fps on the ps4 for a launch title would be EPIC.

Probably will still be 64 players and feel/ play EXACTLY like B3...just new locations, sadly.

I hope BF4 will be great. Lost the interest in BF3, some months ago. Was a great game, but I got bored, really fast.

The thing about BF3 is, that DICE has a really good communication with the fanbase. I mean the patch notes are incredible (really detailed), they included custom server, etc.

What I don't like about BF3 and DICE is, how they are handling patches and the custom server thing. It took way to long, to patch out the M26 Dart thing, for example. Also, the patch files are too big. Every patch is like 2GB, but why? A lot of people are also abusing their own server. If you are too good => kick or ban. If you don't play, like it is stated in the rules (even if there aren't rules) => kick or ban. It was ridiculous at the beginning, but I heared it got better now.

I hope they have learned, from those mistakes.

What I always wanted to have in a game like BF is, that you should be able to chose from a weapon list, if you have a custom server. Just check the weapons, which are allowed on your server and players should only be able to pick from those. For example:

Assault: M16
Engineer: G36C
Supporter: M249
Sniper: SV98

Like I said, just an example, but this would make things like "don't use this weapon or you will get banned" easier.

YES! I came in here to ask if I was the only one or one of few who wanted a BC3. I felt that BC1 and 2 gave BF its own unique identity. A lot of people don't seem to give the games the credit they deserve. :/

Some people already touched on why there are things that BC2 does better just a few posts above yours.

It's too bad that Arma 3 Alpha came out. EA would probably have had another customer from me. Derrick is spot on about the shitty browser plugins for BF3. It sucks to have to go through so many extra steps to play the game on PC. Now, if this was Bad Company 3, EA would probably get another customer.

Until EA releases another Bad Company I'm not touching any of their games and even after that I won't.
Maybe Mirror's Edge 2 but that's it

I'll be buying CoD instead of both this year.
this is why I hope they continue the bad company series... keep that COD shit as far away from the actual franchise as possible, more like BF2 please

And I don't agree with any of it. How was BF3 slow compared to BC2? BF3 has much more movement options. The movement in BC2 feels clunky in comparison. The one directional running feels so awkward.

I guess the one change I didn't agree with was merging assault and medic, but I still think BF3 is the better game overall. I even think the destruction in BF3 is better. BC2 destruction felt very scripted. Buildings fell down the same way every time.

I'm kind of curious to see how Frostbite 2 looks with all the nextgen features.

Kind of wonder what this might mean for EA unveiling Dragon Age 3 as well. Those seem to be their 2 big nextgen games that we know about besides sports titles. Maybe show off Dragon Age 3 at PAX? Or would that steal the thunder from DICE and BF4 with any kind of nextgen Frostbite stuff? Assuming BioWare knows what they're doing with making DA3 look nice with Frostbite...

I actually agree on that BF3 is more fluid, easier and nicer to control the character. It wasn't as rigged as BC2. It is hard to go back from BF3 to BC2 because of that.

But to disagree with the following?

More health/higher TTK
Better balance among the classes. Was ridiculous to give the revive button, health, and the best weapons to one class.

I assume they want more destruction, since the base game in BF3 didn't have nearly as much.

The destruction did feel scripted, but I felt that we were able to do more with it such as when we took down the whole buildings in Rush mode or destroyed where some people where camping completely. I am really comparing the base game of BF3 with BC2 though because that's basically where all my multiplayer time in BF3 was.

What I am trying to say that BC2 wasn't as bad as some people make it to be. Too much hyperbole and much less credit than it deserves.

What I would like to see from Bad Company 2 would be the simplicity when it came to vehicle warfare. BF3 is too messy when it comes to all the perks added to vehicles. I feel it's less about skill and more about who has the better perks. Also, destruction, while not very varied, was much better when it came to the amount of the environment you could destroy. And one last thing, the maps! Now I haven't played any of the BF3 DLC maps, so I don't know if this has been addressed, but BF4 needs more open-ended maps. For example, rush is completely ruined in BF3 because of the linear the maps are. Give us more maps like Harvest Day, Caspian Border, and Atacama Desert.

Gunplay and vehicle controls are much better in BF3 than in BC2. Go back and play it, it feels way to floaty (to me anyway) and too arcadey.

Then they better charge half as much for the game.

Why? Should other devs charge half the price for single-player driven games that lack multiplayer. Tacking on modes simply just to have them does no one any good.
