Both. I don't pretend I have some "elite" PC rig. Only 1 box will have 4 generations in 1 and that's Xbox. A shame Nintendo didn't capitalize on their legacy, but rather charge you for Super Mario 1 for the 100th time. Look forward to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Both.

It's just a question of what one I buy first as my main console. I think next generation I will be getting an Xbox first and then only buying a PS5 for exclusives.

The only Sony exclusive I might be interested in is Horizon 2. If Fromsoftware do another PlayStation exclusive then I will need that. Also, PlayStation gets the main Persona games so I have to play that. If the PlayStation has support for PS1 + PS2 games then I can finally rest my PS2 Slim.

This generation PS4 is my main console and I bought an Xbox to play a few games and sold it. Next gen I think it will be the other way around. Xbox getting used while PlayStation sits collecting dust between a few games.

I've had both through every generation. I'll probably end up with both again, eventually, but initially I'll get the PS5. The XB1 interface was a mess and most decent 'exclusives' came to PC anyway.

The poll is 186 (PS5) vs 42 (XBOX)…...I wonder If this is going to be the installbase of PS4 vs XBOXONE at the end of this gen...….Perhaps a litmust into what will happen with PS5 too....

I really hope Sony will not commit suicide activities like it did with PS3. :messenger_fearful:

Normally I would get both, but Xbox has shown me there is no reason to own their hardware anymore since the games are available for PC. Playstation has always been my gaming console preference so I'll probably get it once a deal hits. I'm trying to migrate over to more PC gaming, but don't want to live my friends and family behind on console.

Not sure yet. I have good history buying both companys system's, but my deciding factor for my first system might be power and backwards compatibility, I'll eventually get the 2nd system after a year or so.

PS5 because I have zero confidence that Xbox will ever give me the games I want.

I'm frustrated at Sony that they seem solely focusing on western first party games and completely abandoning their first party Japanese games but at very least I know third part Japanese games like from Atlus and Square Enix release games on PS5.

Id wager the people not liking the series x is because on how it looks

Totally look out of place in front of TV

Im not fan either as it looks like a frickin refrigerator and not a pleasant look in the living room

Making a vertical design for a gaming console is really weird and questionable decision for microsoft

I know this is a double post but also check out this thread. It's not fanboyism, there was even a time people thought Sony was going to be dead this decade.

PS4 obviously sold a shit ton so it's no surprise if PS5 might be people's first choice unless something changes.

Sony would probably be dead hadn't the other two fucked up so hard.

Wait until they are both formally revealed and really close to launch, because the last time around I was about to jump ship from the PS3 to the Xbox One (like many people I know)... Then Sony hit a home run all the while MS seemed like they forgot to even hold the bat.... The rest is history.

That being said, the PS5 looks like a pretty strong machine, with its x86 CPU reserved to gaming tasks (other tasks being delegated to the ARM CPU), intriguing storage tech (which may end up being a whole lot of nothing) and early rumors saying it's the more powerful of the two (when comparing to Scarlett obviously).

MS has good press with Phil and they have a new console as well, but apparently they spend all this R&D for something they don't care about.... so I guess they have this going for them, oh and these new studios, let's hope their talent is well managed this time around.

So you never know.

Nope I think most just don't have faith in Xbox first party games and it doesn't interest them. Me not picking nextbox has nothing to do with its looks.

I could add this...in the First month how many consoles both Sony and Microsoft Will sell?
How many of those 100mil and 40mil Will buy the next gen soon?

I doubt Sony will spend all the money they did on PS3......With AMD they have a good roadmap, no need for all that money going into R&D and doing everything internally.....I want a powerful PS5 though, so I don't mind Sony going a bit higher than $400 this time......

Neither. I have a decent PC and a Switch. The two occupy all the free time I have for gaming, I'll definitely buy the Switch successor on day one based of the run it's had so far. I can play most of the Xbox lineup on my PC, I have little interest in the big Sony exclusives and can play the multiplats on PC as well so there's not much point in having a bunch of boxes sitting under my TV. I'll put the $1000 CDN I'll save on consoles towards the PC like I did in place of upgrading to a Pro and X.

PS5.

Its all about the games in the end. I went PS3 first and eventually had to get a 360 because the PS3 ran games at such shit framerate and/or resolution that it really didn't leave me much choice. Skyrim pushed me over the edge.
Then I went PS4 first again, and really, I have had no need to go anywhere else.
It'll be the same for the PS5. Even if the PS5 is weaker, these 2 consoles will be so close power wise, that I probably won't mind the weaker console. Its just the Sony first party.

Not only that, lots of games come to AT LEAST the PS4. Seems to be the default. Indie games and japanese games. I expect the same with PS5 honestly.

Xbox has been heavily losing in the gaming arena for a while now. Most of their first party exclusives flopped or got canceled. I don't trust their devs to produce anything worthwhile next gen. I'll upgrade my PS4 Pro and keep my Switch in case of any off-games. Use my gaming PC for everything else.

Halo Infinite
Forza Motorsport 8
Flight Simulator
Minecraft Raytraced Edition
3rd Party Exclusive (probably)
Whatever else

Xbox at launch for me with that lineup, and as my main machine for the gen. Probably get the PS5 the year after, I skipped the PlayStation this gen so I can also play a few BC games in between exclusive software droughts.

Minecraft Ray tracing got cancelled man.

PS5. I'm still clueless why i got hype for a X when i have a Pro. The X could/should have been so much better. They won't fool me again with high resolution and PR buz words. All i want is consistency with lock frame rate for a better experience.

I don't think I'll be buying either at launch - wait until some game comes out that I want to play. I'm also pretty lacking in enthusiasm for this generation to be honest - most of the marketing seems to be about better graphics, and I think we are already well down the path of diminishing returns there.

I won't vote because I can't say yet.
If all the main games from Xbox really will also release on Steam, then PS5 only.
If not, then man.. I'm a sucker for Halo, had every game so far, book, soundtrack etc. It's just my jam so I would get a Xbox first and a PS5 later. Can't afford both back to back, especially not if I plan on buying a new PC mit 2020 with that new AMD CPU and 3XXX nVidia GPU.

So if Halo = PC then PS5, else Xbox.

Funny how nowadays so many people own a beefy $3.000 PC and a willingly putting a lot of time and effort to get games running with drivers and like to play on a desk instead of comfy couch, where you just put the disk in and play.

looking at neogaf it looks like 80% own PS4 AND beefy PC that can play nextgen games and only 20% an xbox. lol whats weird is that sales dont show that. like 1% sales are on PC, rest on ps4 and xbox.

Guess PS4 is more than enough then.

This has to be a joke.

You think it will take a $3000 PC to run next gen games at console equivalent settings?

You think that you have to play PC games at a desk? (my desk setup is actually more comfortable and ergonomic than my sofa, but that's beside the point)

You think you can just put a disk in and play on consoles?

2020 is upon us, it would benefit you greatly if you stopped being ignorant. I'm sure the smell of your own arse can't be that good, remove your head and allow yourself to breathe.

Are you a time traveler from the 90s or something?
