EDGE 215 review scores

WTF did Capcom do to Lost Planet game?
How can you fuck up after you had a good first game?
WTF is wrong with Capcom?

Capcom, you had a good start with LP1. a Bloody good one. You could just expand on it. Fucking expand on it. Nothing else. How the Hell can you fuck up LP2? WTF is wrong with you?

What exactly are you raging for?

I guess I haven't been paying enough attention to talk about LP2, but I looooooooved the co-op multiplayer demo that came out for it. Love the guns + Monster Hunter feel, and if the game is just more of that I'll be perfectly happy with it.

Yeah, me and friends are going to wait on the PC version and co-op it up over weekends. Should be fun!

Didn't Lost Planet 1 receive scores that were all over the place? That, coupled with the fact that Edge scores are completely different from standard media makes me wonder why everyone is suddenly up in arms over this.

Wii :bow :bow

Lost Planet 2's critical reception continues. Above average [but not more] sounds about right from everything I've seen and played.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 10
Cave Story – 8
WarioWare: D.I.Y. – 8
Sin and Punishment - 8

Hell of a month for Nintendo. Lots of great games to choose from right now. and of course, one incredible must-have.

A tiny bit surprised at the score for Alan Wake, but it makes holding out hope for a PC version a lot easier while I play other games ;)

it got poor scores from popular sites too.
Gamespot 5.5
IGN 6 for 360 5.5 for PS3.
LP2 looks like to have some serious problems in AI and level design and the way co-op works (no drop in/out mid game etc, can't join others if you haven't unlocked the chapter, some really horrible design choices).
right now it has lower scores than LP1.

You might even be able to fix Lost Planet with some mods on the PC. Either way, it doesn't matter. Another bomba from Capcom coming?

From what I've seen and played it honestly strikes me as being worse than the first one somehow.

It is quite disappointing after that first trailer showed so much potential.

Yep, maybe for a brief while GAF will be a little less negative about the Wii.

Nah, who am I kidding.

It's Edge and a PS3 exclusive. Just bump up the score a couple points and you have what it should be.

For me personally, it's just not the direction I wanted the franchise to go into.

Increased focus on MP and a lacklustre SP. Not keeping the arcade feel of the big boss monsters and going more into the Monster Hunter direction - but without the deep melee combat, tight controls and extensive crafting which really make that series.

It's all just very disappointing.

I don't know, you tell me.

1)looking forward to the game 2) puzzled how a company can mess up a game that had good prequel

just watch Gametrailers review of the game. The game is broken without some real friends.

I doubted this until I saw what they gave Demon's Souls. They gave the game a 9, but it really deserved an 11.

Although judging from the scores posted of the first game, it sold rather well with those scores, didn't it? Maybe this one won't bomb either.
The scores miladesn posted were actually for Lost Planet 2. IGN gave LP1 an 85 and GameSpot gave LP1 an 81, which are both about 25 points higher than their LP2 reviews.

As for Lost Planet 1's sales, it actually managed to sell 2.7 million across all versions.

However, it is worth noting that Lost Planet 1 also had really good timing, being one of the three major Xbox 360 game to come out in Q1 2007 (the other two being Crackdown and GRAW 2, which came out 1.5 and 2 months later respectively).

Glad to see this getting a favorable score. Really enjoyed the demo and going by this the retail product might deliver more of that goodness.

I really wished this game would be getting better reviews, I did enjoy the demo but all these not so glowing reviews of the game is pushing me back on the fence. Any Gaffer willing to try and persuade me into buying this game is more then welcome to give it a shot :-)

After the shitty demos Capcom gave us which made me cancel my pre-order, these reviews show what we all thought. Its a POS game. I mean didnt one review say that there is really no single player? So in other words we got another Resident Evil 5 of forced co-op. My advice, back up to that fence and than fucking jump it. And than run. And dont stop. And along the way, buy something better.

After reading the review, I think I might have to pick up SMG2 sooner than expected. Sad for LP2. Every review I've seen hits on the co-op and mission structure faults. I was hoping that it might scale its difficulty for SP as I don't know anyone online who enjoyed LP1. Will probably hold off getting it. I loved the demo though :(.

EDGE saying something isn't good isn't the same as it being bad. Hell, I've loved many games that were critically panned.

The Whispering World – 6

I guess most of you didn't notice that, might be a disapointing score but it won't stop me from getting this game. It is good that Edge gave an adventure game some attention.

I'm looking forward to Sin and Punishment 2. Don't get me wrong. But that Mario Galaxy 2 review sent chills up my spine. The mainline Mario platformers are why I play video games, and this gen is looking to be the finest since the NES days, if not ever, for the little fat plumber.

Realistically, it's about what the game deserves. It's a very traditional point-and-click game (which automatically knocks off marks) with some pretty bad voice acting and the occasional crap puzzle. For genre fans it's definitely worth a look, but otherwise it's not something I'd necessarily recommend.
