So we have 10+ page discussions about every EDGE article? What rubbing in though? A new EDGE article, that's bound to be talked about.

Sony did something similar to Sega with how 2D worked better on the Saturn than the PS1. Devs weren't allowed to make those versions look superior or something or other if I remember correctly. I wouldn't put it below Microsoft to pull something like that, same goes for Sony of course.
I just notice it's only the guys from MS that will continue to say the X1 match the Ps4 in term of power.
I mean, I never read (and heard) any Devs that confirm that hypothesis.
Anyway, the X1 is set to be a console with Kinect and TV as part of the "X1 experience", so even if less powerful this doesn't mean it's not an interesting consoles for some people.
Whatever console has the higher install base, that other will have the gimped ports.
No it wasn't. Check your facts. Cover was leaked just before or at the same time as ONE of the 180s, not all of them. You can't just change your entire magazine cover on a dime...
Depends on the interest of the article. This one has a lot of interest. So we have 10+ page discussions about every EDGE article?

How is it an 'ongoing' trainwreck? What did they do this time? What has changed? Its simply that people keep bringing this up over and over and over as if its even a dispute.
The ICE team helps with third party development I believe...Sony just announced their own 3rd party dev assistance team. Was that just for Vita, since I remember their first game being Borderlands 2. If not, they could possible become TASK FORCE 4 that swoops in and saves crappy versions from parity.
Wishful thinking.
I have not heard this. Do you have a link? That would be great news.FIFA was one of the rumoured games to differ between platforms.
They didn't go cheap. They just went for a different market, going for the whole blue ocean rather than mainly gamers. It makes sense, the Xbox 360 and Wii did very well because of it. Why not try again?
That's where you get the Kinect, SHAPE, and multimedia focus. That's why they went with 8GB of RAM of the bat because without 8GB, you'd be hard pressed to store a game, snap to a few Windows apps, and switch between apps seamlessly.
Then Sony announced their console somehow had 8GB of GDDR5 memory and I imagine that's where things got really messy at Microsoft.
"Crucially, a sentiment among many was that 360 is more PS2.5 than a fully fledged upgrade of Xbox, competing against PS2's continued market resilience rather than the PS3."
Edge, October 2005.
So most 3rd party games will be built on the lowest denominator and then ported to PS4 for ease of development? Just like last gen I suppose, doesn't surprise me it makes sense for business reasons.
Yeah, that Edge thread was a wash with comments like "Never reading Edge again", "Glad I cancelled my sub" etc. Funny thing is as soon as Edge comes along at some point and says something positive they'll be "resubbing" or thinking Edge is awesome again in a heartbeat.
Can Microsoft really force studios to artificially degrade multi-plats on PS4? Do they really have that much power?
That's pretty much my point.Depends on the interest of the article. This one has a lot of interest.
They're probably under strict NDA.
Nintendo released a ram pack for the n64, ms can just release a readyboost usb for the x1.
As for the gpu, *shrugs*, but try to be conscientious of the fact that engineers at ms are talented and hold quite the pedigree. My uncle reads a lot of gaming news and told me they created directx tv. Thats huge.
Proof is in the pudding. PS3 was supposed to make 360 look like Xbox 1.5.
We all know how that turned out
Right.. yet here are developers who work with both consoles spilling their beans to EDGE.
These recent articles pretty much exist specifically because of what MS has been saying. It's caused sites to start looking into their claims and this is what's happening. In other words, articles like this will stop once MS stops.
Nothing on SMS looks as good as Shatterhand, Bucky o Hare and most late NES games
And tons of video comparisons have been made between multiplats and exclusives for SNES and Genesis, and SNES almost always wins, look at Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Doom
Dont start this specs talk because you said :
So there you go, the proof is certainly in the pudding
I think when you have prerelease PS4 games looking as good as this:
It's pretty obvious which console is technically stronger.
I was going to post Xbox 1 gifs to compare (KI, Ryse etc.) but out of respect for the devs I won't, they still have time.
The article doesn't say that. It says that it's not generally in the studio's financial interests to improve the PS4 version unless it's a very quick thing to do. It says that both manufacturers lean on developers to include console-specific features (touchpad, kinect).
I guess my next gen console is going to be a PS4 then...
Honestly MS. Why did you go so cheap and fuck it up. The person(s) who decided to not go for high end graphics should be fired.
Have you actually read the article?
Leagues more difficult? I dont think we've got anything that goes into any detail on this.As I said, indicators point to the eSRAM setup of the Xbone as being more complicated and difficult to use than the eDRAM of the 360. Did anybody at all call the eDRAM 'a pain to work with'? Until very recently I'd assumed the complications were identical, and had been arguing that it shouldn't be any more difficult to work with the Xbone than the 360, but the picture emerging now is that the Xbone is leagues more difficult to work with.
At this point you start to wonder if even split RAM pools would have been a better idea.
After clock speeds it's around 45%, going from 20 to 30 FPS is 50% and from 900p to 1080p is 44%.
Both at the same time would be over 100%. I don't think so.
That's pretty much my point.![]()
PS3 exclusives make the Xbox 360 look like Xbox 1.5
Thanks for proving my point then because sms is widely regarded as more poweful than nes.
I have not heard this. Do you have a link? That would be great news.

You're overdramatizing things quite a bit with your recent posts.
Proof is in the pudding. PS3 was supposed to make 360 look like Xbox 1.5.
We all know how that turned out
Lol really? The X1 presales are tracking at twice what the 360 was doing before it launched. Of course it's not going to match PS4's launch sales, but it's carving a healthy chunk of the market for itself, especially now that Nintendo is out of the race this generation.
Where is that quote does it say its related to graphics processing power?
Its more 1.5tf to 2tf, not 1.2 to 2tf.anyone who knows something about PC tech could see it from miles away. We are talking here about 1,2Tf to nearly 2Tf hardware where that 2Tf hardware is easier to code for and possibily have even better real performance thanks to unified fast ram
Resolution in modern GPUs to some point isn't that much of a problem (increasing it decreasing it) compared to old GPUs where resolution bump by 50% would most of the time means even more than 50% performance downgrade.
If you look at benchmarks for various games going from 1600x900 to 1920x1080 is not at cost of 50% more or less it is 15%-30%.
Isn't generally resolution mainly ROP thing ? It is not like GPU will need to calculate more things on screen.
"our contacts" as in they read a GAF thread.
Its more 1.5tf to 2tf, not 1.2 to 2tf.
a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but itll run at 20-something FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One. Xbox One is weaker and its a pain to use its ESRAM, concluded one developer.
HDMI in is pretty much the only thing that is not focused on gamers in xbone.
I have no favorites. But every page being covered with the same topics over and over is getting old.
I would love to hear what Major Nelson has to say about this news.
"We feel very good about our plans and offer great value for consumers besides great exclusives. Kinect can measure your heart rate. We have haptic feedback in our triggers. Look!!!! The NFL!!!! Free FIFA! TI-TAN-FALLLLLLLL!!!! All is well! All is welllllllllll!!!!"I would love to hear what Major Nelson has to say about this news.
Higher resolution = more pixels. GPU has to create and work hard on those pixels. There is no magical way to fill them with relevant data for free.
1600x900=1.43 billion pixels
1920x1080=2.07 billion pixels
