It's pretty crappy lol but it was fun.

I'll get one later ^_^

Actually, I need to get some candles first! Then it'll look better

Shit, I have no way to put my candle in there (heh) without burning my palm. Gonna need to buy myself one of those bbq lighters. No dark pic tonight, sorry Hardstyle folks here!

Installed a 12" Alpine Type R in my hatch. Future Bass is now my father, son, and holy spirit.

Anyone have some good EDM bass heavy tracks to recommend? I'm amassing a war chest of a playlist with some good shit.

Originally I had full intention of writing my detailed impressions of Joanne in this thread based on Gaga's history. I've decided not to do that - the album has dance elements but I wouldn't quantify it as dance enough to review it in here. This is a clear concept album centering around Soft Rock, Country, and Funk, blending a core backbone of old school writing with a modern approach.

What I will say is if you want an album that's just plain old good music and you go in expecting something that isn't the Gaga we know, this is an excellent album. There's nothing but quality music here, I'm totally in love with this album.

3lau on DJMag. Interesting view on it, makes sense why the rankings would be so wacky and what the real motivations behind it are.

Edit: Totally forgot to put an image here. oops lol

edit: justice - alakazam ! goes the fuck off. that's the kinda shit i wanna hear from them.

also, i haven't posted here in awhile, so here's a cool new track i'm playing on repeat lately:

boys noize - midnight (boys noize and mr oizo's handbraekes remix)

Lol! I'm a big gaga fan and I grew up listening to a lot of that type of music playing in the house so I jam with it

dude is awesome live

seeing him again next month in toronto ^_^

and that top 100... lol. that dillon francis video is so on point. the order makes no sense at all. I would have put garrix at #1 last year honestly just cause he's consistently been putting out singles and big festival hits and shit. now wtf has hardwell/dv and lm/tiesto done in the last year to remain so high? compared to diplo or skrillex? chainsmokers who were all over the god damn radio for the last year? i just don't get it fam, i don't.

Best part was seeing people in the club going "WTF? How do I dance to this" once the psy trance started.

Thank you Based Jeff

My 3rd time seeing him live. Need to see him again!

Not gonna lie that makes me kind of want to see seven lions on this tour. But he probably won't do that here because hes playing more like a concert venue

I feel like there is something I just don't understand about edm. I've noticed some really talented guys supporting some really shit or mediocre artists, whether really well known or totally unknown.

Am I missing something? Honestly what, Diplo with dvlm lol, it's not even a smart business move, not like this colab moves diplo's career forward in any way

EDIT: Can I just say, earlier this year Diplo gave Zedd a bad time for collaborating with M&Ms. I don't agree with everything Zedd does with his career, but Diplo is a TOTAL hypocrite.

Armin did a one hour and fifteen minute set. One trance track.

Zedd played Get Your Freak On. No reaction.

We are truly in the darkest timeline. Main stage is such garbage.

I really don't get Armin. Does anyone like his mainstage sets? I seriously don't know anyone who prefers that to his trance sets that he plays at ASOT events. I get that Trance is a bit stagnant and it's probably not interesting for him to make that all the time, but his mainstage shit is so much less interesting. Anyway when I went to Ile Soniq Zedd was pretty much the only decent mainstage act. Otherwise mainstage was fucking garbage all weekend.

Worst part is the bad crowds aren't just mainstage anymore. I remember I was at Flume at a concert venue and within minutes of arriving I had idiots asking me for drugs and underage kids asking me to buy them drinks, all dressed up in rave gear. I was like, yo Flume isn't EDM, this isn't a rave, hell this was before "Skin" was out and even that album is barely EDM.

Yes I know people who like his mainstage set... people like my sister who just started listening to EDM 2 years ago still in college... yep. Basically that 18-22 range.

Yeah I get that. I mean I don't wanna sound like I haven't enjoyed an Armin mainstage set but that was also when he was playing more decent music + it was at Tomorrowland.

I mean admittedly I've grown out of that type of music to an extent, but I think a lot of us can agree mainstage a few years back was much better than today.

I went to Escape Psycho Circus this past weekend.

I never wanted to kill so many 18-20 year olds in my life

Had a group of 18 year olds rush the front of the stage for Duke Dumont...and then proceeded to go "Wait...who is this? I don't know! LETS MOSSSHHHHHHH!! OMG!!!" to a fucking Duke Dumont set...

This is why most of the time I just chill in the back and enjoy an adult beverage.

Yeah honestly on my creative side this is the crap that made me fall out of love with Edm. I get inspired by music and people, at the end of the day I write pop music. Musically I had started to distance myself but when I started to find the edm format meant it's associated with that type of crowd, I quickly became much less interested in writing it. Its unfortunate for artists that they have volumes of people attend their shows with no clue or care as to who they are because their mindset is that Edm means it's time to party & the music doesn't matter. Also alcohol and drugs will always exist in the music scene regardless of genre, but it's often abused for the wrong reasons at edm shows.

By the way - if there's one thing I learned from edc Las Vegas, if you can help it, don't go to 18+ festivals in North America. It's not worth it. 21+ is where it's at if you want a decent crowd.

This is why most of the time I just chill in the back and enjoy an adult beverage.
Oh 100%. Even if you wanna dance the back is always the best, there's more room to move.

Lol that's definitely true techno crowds are often pretty mature. Neon Garden was easily the best stage at EDC. That said my project/alias I started this year is really about just making music that has no bounds or clear genre, that's what I love doing the most - one of the tracks I released is definitely techno inspired but I wouldn't call it that by any stretch

Dammit The Chainsmoker's! I seriously miss their sound pre-DLMD.

Setting Fires ft. XYLØ *yawns*

That preview Vicetone has been reposting has finally been released:

Kaleidoscope ft. Grace Grundy (Official Lyric Video). I'm sure many have figured it out but they are starting to sound very stale/samey lately. I'm a bit concerned about their current sound :( They're still my favorite Electro House producers though.

Edit: speaking of dotcom..... I was watching his Lollalapolooza Set and..... Not a fan. Nope, not a fan at all. Then I went and watched The Chainsmoker's set and zzzz then I went to Hardwell's set...... Whew, that set woke me up. Hardwell puts on a better show compared to dotcom and The Plainsmoker's.

got tickets to Porter x Madeon tour. Crossing fingers as I didnt care for Worlds.

I didn't care for Worlds at all (save for like, 3 songs), but I thought Porter's live show was fucking incredible, and he really made the new material shine in a way that I vibed with.

Oh, and speaking of AVB (lttp but whatever), I do enjoy his Big Room sets just as much as I enjoy his ASOT sets. Sure it's filled with garbage as crowds but I can't deny the energy and music of both sets. Sorry not sorry?
