"and then he turned into a fucking dog"

That ultimate lol. Between executor, duchess, wylder, deadeye and raider, I should have quite a bit of variety.

After over 1.2k hours in ER and its dlc, i simply do not want to be in the ER world anymore, at least not until ER2 if there's one. Outside of AC6, this will be the first Fromsoft game i skip since 2010.

I wonder how many people are going to buy this without realizing that it's not Elden Ring 2 or an expansion to Elden Ring itself.

Not sure about this

There were 8 or so of them on the character select screen. Is it going to be like Smash Bros where they keep introducing new characters?Looks like they just filled out the top row and theres plenty of room for more.

what is this suppose to be, there's like actual classes now?
3 players coop rogue like game, where each player picks a character (the characters are different, each having different abilities and weapons) and together they try to finish the stage, which usually takes 20 minutes.

The stage has random events and random bosses each time.

It's basically a simple coop game for those that enjoy the gameplay loop of Elden Ring. It's 40 usd.

The thing is, this game looks fun for like a day or two. Not sure if there is enough random things or variations to hold your interest for much longer

I wonder how this works, will he need the special sword to do sekiro parry? All classes can swap weapons freely afaik, same goes for the archer dude

This game looks like a mishmash of ideas and none of them lead to the game feeling like a cohesive experience.

Deluxe edition says more characters. So imagine Risk of Rain or Ravenswatch. New characters and content like bosses to fight.

---------

Elden Ring: Boring Dragon form

Nightreign: WEREWOLF

Yep I checked the preorders out and it looks like theyre making a service game out of the Elden Ring resources. Maybe it works and I will be the first to admit I was wrong, but its a wait and see.

Sekiro fans who didn't have this game on their radar:

That's me.

I'm still holding off, though. I really hate the idea of a full FromSoftware multiplayer game.

All those resources could've gone into creating a solid single-player experience. It just feels like a huge waste.

But we'll see.

I can't wait to try this character!

I absolutely loved the beta on ps5 pro and my collector's edition for pc should be on its way in a day of two! 😍

I'm willing to give Nightreign a try. Duskbloods not so much.

The mobility and improved combat are what I've been hoping for. The shrinking map over time forcing a "speedrunner" mentality not so much. But this isn't a new concept with Risk of Rain or Ravenswatch having that Roguelite Action aspect of grind for levels and gear to take on tough enemies.

i think you're missing the point. they're reusing a ton of already made assets to create a small side project. this isn't some huge resource hog that's gonna set back their mainline games. you probably should shift that sentiment towards Duskbloods if anything. that game seems like kind of an asset reuse project too tho.

I get your point about asset reuse, and that does make sense on the surface. But when I say "resources," I'm not just referring to assets. I'm talking about everything:

- developer time
- design direction
- testing
- balancing
- marketing
- creative focus
etc. etc.

Even a smaller side project requires significant internal coordination and attention. And when its multiplayer focused, that adds layers of complexity: server infrastructure, matchmaking systems, long term balancing, and ongoing support. All of that takes time and energy away from what could've gone into a new, deep, single player experience

So yeah, I still think it's a waste, or at the very least, a questionable use of their talent and momentum.

I think it depends. We've been saying that it doesn't take 400+ people to make one game. So if you have that many people and you know for a fact that small teams can make great games like Clair Obscur or Deep Rock Galactic that have talent, great artistic vision or know how to bring ideas to life through the technology available it makes more sense to have multiple small projects and come out with multiple great games across a couple years instead of 1 game every 10 years. So we will see.

I'd rather see a return to that fabled PSX golden age where RPGS were coming out month after month and they were all stellar to play. I don't see anything wrong with having assets and using them for multiple projects.

Fair enough. agreed. While I'm excited for nightreign (loved the network test, love elden ring, love roguelikes), i don't think there's anything to worry about going forward. they seem pretty committed to their single player souls formula and miyasaki even said elden ring wasn't his masterpiece.

It's playable single player, but still I urge souls fans here to look at this game as a dungeon-running experience rather than constantly comparing it to other souls games.

You drop in, run through the 'dungeon', collect loot, kill the boss, collect loot, drop out.

Kind of like Dot Hack, or Phantasy Star Online, or Vindictus, or Wayfinder, etc.
