ELI MANNING OWNS TIKI BARBER, THE AFC, THE ENTIRE LEAGUE, AND THE UNIVERSE!!!

The only time Tom Brady was not getting hurried or sacked was the final drive they made to score that touchdown during the 4th quarter. He would immediately get rid of the football and make short accurate passes to mainly Welker. If he waited to long and looked for the man deep down the field he just kept getting rocked.

Congrats to the Giants, Eli, Tom Coughlin, Strahan and the rest of the D, but most of all props to Striker, Lefty, jman and the other NYG GAF fans! We did it boys!! Kept the faith and the Giants are now top of the heap!

Just call me Nostradamus. Can everyone finally admit that he is decent? At least maybe Dilfer quality? The one pick all post season was because of a bad drop by Steve Smith.

Fucking Eli! Worst QB in the league, and probably ever and he leads the super bowl winning drive against the best team ever. I guess even a blind squirrel gets a nut sometimes right Enron, Bezz?

Why did they go for that? It was a makeable FG, but they go for a 4th and 13? I didn't understand that at all. :/

That was the drive the coaches proved they had no idea what to do. They punted on 4th and 2 but went on 4th and 13. They were clearly confused, unable to know if they should trust their offense or rely on their defense. You can't be confused and indecisive in the Super Bowl.

Patriots were out coached and out played.

:lol I've just challenged you to show me anywhere that I dissed a winning playoff team and you can't. "BU BU BUT YOU TALK SHIT LULZ"

I talk shit about the Steelers because the Steelers fans are almost as delusional as Cubs fans in their rampant dicksucking of a franchise that continually fails to live up to the hype. But there's not many other franchises I talk massive shit about. I mean seriously... name them. I'll even let you go thru every other sports thread to back up your claims about me, but you can't. (And now you'll quote this, if you bother to reply, and try to argue that the Steelers won the superbowl in 2006, have one of the five best QBs in the league, and only got embarassed in the playoffs cuz your starting RB broke his leg. And eventually I'll have to stop replying because I'm a closet Steelers fan myself who secretly loves the Rooneys but I just can't stand Steelers fans)

you can be as happy as you want, but you can't make the claim that the patriots suck. not as a steelers fan, nto as a lions fan, and especially not as a 9ers fan.

Stop projecting on me. There's really only been two groups of horrible fans. The recent bandwagon Pats fans and, of course, Eagle fans. Every other team has it's normal share of smart fans and complete idiots.

Now, I know the Pats don't suck. I know all about them, more than I'd care to admit. And again I say.....18-1, NO PERFECTION FOR MEDIA DARLING BRADY. YESSSS!!!!!!!

Honestly, I would classify it as arrogance but I may have taken that shot too with Wes Welker in my arsenal

They actually asked Bilicheck about that play and he said something along the lines of "50 yard field goals are a toss up".

How could he have avoided something like this:

It was so bad an owned gif was made out of it. The other sacks were just as bad.

First off, obligatory 'ELI MANNING HAS ECO-DRIVE' comment needs to be made.

Citizen's watch commercials were very well placed. UNSTOPPABLE! ECO-DRIVE! ELI MANNING!

Now onto the meat of the situation... Belichick is stupid for not kicking it on the 4th and long in the 1st quarter...

no, but he looked average. the patriots had other-worldly blocking for almost the entire season. what people are saying is that when brady doesn't have 10 seconds to sit back there, he doesn't look like some unstoppable record setting beast. he is still a good QB, but nothing like the first half of the season. and what if every QB got the kind of time he normally got throughout the season?
if Brees had that kind of time I think the Saints might have won a few more games.
They wouldnt have made it to the playoffs though or they wouldnt have made it far.

Kinda LTTP, but this was one of the best Super Bowls I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Not just because the Patriots lost (I'd have been fine with them getting the perfect season) but because of the huge underdog, last minute comeback, etc. etc.

Awesome. Congrats Eli, though I hate your older brother...

One question: Remember the play where Brady was hit as he threw from the endzone? Why wasn't that a safety? We never got a great shot of the field, but I never saw any Patriot play on the left side of the field. Wasn't that intentional grounding?

Either way, I'm glad this was a well called game. No real bitching from either side.

Because the ball was tipped when he threw it. Can't be grounding by rule if the ball is tipped. Same goes for pass interference.

if the saints had won "a few more games" they would have infact been in the playoffs.

I guess that makes sense. I was frustrated because he was clearly throwing to the left, even without the deflection, and there was no Patriot in sight. You're probably right, though.

Tiki Barber

NFL retirement

In October 2006, Barber revealed his intention to retire at the end of the 2006 NFL season. Barber has previously indicated his desire to retire at some point and pursue a broadcasting career but the news still came as a shock to Giants fans and NFL observers.

Many fans wondered why a player at the peak of his game would retire. Barber cited the toll the physical nature of football takes on a person's body. He also spoke of his keen interest in pursuing a broadcasting career and other opportunities. Rick Reilly wrote a column in Sports Illustrated, that chastised critics of Barber's decision and listed a number of former players who played until they were no longer physically able to and have since endured long-term injuries.

During his career with the Giants, the team never won a championship, a top goal of Barber's that he spoke publicly about in 2005. When announcing his retirement, Barber seemed at peace to leave the game without a Super Bowl ring. He said, "I used to think my career was defined by not winning a Super Bowl. But I think looking back on my career, they'll see someone who was a competitor, someone who always played hard and never gave up."[13] He officially filed his retirement papers with the Players Association on February 12, 2007

The year after he retired, the Giants won Superbowl 42 against the undefeated New England Patriots, 17-14, on February 3rd, 2008. Punch was served.

I propose Ewing Theory be renamed Barber Theory.

Yeah, I thought it was sketchy at first glance, but on the replay, I saw exactly that. I think it was a great call... the Pats should've had it, but I didn't see any evidence that they actually did get it. I think that was a huge will-to-win play by Bradshaw.

I'm torn on whether this will happen. On one hand, it's the obvious choice. On the other, there's little chance Simmons will want to remember this game every time he brings it up.

Yeah, on the second or third angle they showed, you can see Bradshaw had one arm under the Pat player. At that point, it's a scrum and anything goes. Bradshaw got it last.

:lol :lol

The spot was bad, the challenge was legit though. Incredibly rare to see, but it's legal. And the fumble recovery wasn't a bad call, just a symptom of a bad rule. Patriots should have been given possession on a moral sort of level, but according to NFL rules and customs the refs made the right call.

Of course it won't happen with Simmons, he will however probably invent a new level of losing.

There's several rules in the NFL that don't really make a whole lot of sense. I wonder what things, if any, get discussed at the meetings this offseason.

The only somewhat questionable thing about Bill's challenge was that he had the pleasure of a commercial break to discuss the whole thing and then throw out a flag without fear of another play being run.

Eh, Patrick Ewing is still the best Ewing Theory example. Tiki Barber wasn't a great player (very good, but not great), they weren't expected to win with him and they weren't buried because he left.

Peyton Manning at Tennessee is probably the second best example still.

I have been supporting Eli since midway through the season Welli! I always wanted him to be considered one rung below the Messiah, but after today he is Big Ben's equal and brother forever in my books!

Please you must come up with a biblical nickname for the Messiah's brother now. Eli just isn't worthy.

I also support your bringing up the past shit talking of the arrogant Pats fans and rubbing it in. I also propose you use rub the salt of their bitter tears in their now open wounds.

They were absolutely buried when he left. They were picked to finish with under 6 wins this season.

Also, the Knicks never won the championship, with or without Ewing.

People saying stuff like

"When Brady doesn't have forever to throw, he sucks"

really don't know much about football. There isn't a QB in the league (Vick is in jail) who could have been successful with offensive line play that absolutely dreadful. He had no time whatsoever. Brady wasn't revealed as a fraud or anything.

Brady is a great QB. Anyone who questions that is an ignoramus.

However, he benefits from one of the the best O-lines in the league. A lot of QBs would give their ass for the kind of time Brady gets in the pocket.

It was a change of possession relatively early in the Super Bowl. It would have been fishy if they hadn't gone to commercial.

I think Tiki leaving was good for the Giants, actually... seems to have sold them on what turned into a very effective committee approach this year. I think you're going to see more teams try a more diverse (or at least more populated) backfield in the coming year.
