That is hilarious. I'm a Jets fan, and that is one of the prettiest things I've seen.
Next to every time Brady is on the floor

Yeah that was good. Although that's all thanks to Mr. I catch with my head. :lol

Did you not see Superbowl XXXVI where Tom Greaty led the Pats down the field with little over a minute left in the same situation?

It was our fucking defense and that incredibl
y lucky
catch that blew the game.

Not to mention the Pats O line who was playing like it was a scrimmage.

I'm a Niners fan... I don't think he's in the same breath. But that drive? Those drives? I don't know if any other QBs have done something of that magnitude.

Jake Delhomme got close, but then his team forgot the basics of field position.

That was game tying. Nit-picking, but a sub-3 minute TD drive is just... I mean, it doesn't happen! McNair came super close, though.

I'm just glad I don't have to hear "Brady is the best quarterback EVER!!!!" anymore.

Though now Joe has new company from an unexpected place: Eli Manning. They only two quarterbacks to have to lead their team to a last second TD to win the fucking Super Bowl. Anyone can get a FG, but you have to be incredibly clutch to do with Joe and Eli pulled off.

Are there people in existence this fucking deluded?!

This has to be some sort of sick joke being played on the internet.

I guess you must have missed the last drive where Eli floated almost all of his passes, luckily to have two easy picks dropped and the Giants reciever make a SPECTACULAR catch on another one. It's like Eli's ball was filled with helium the way he lobbed them out there.

It's a great win for the Giants and Eli ... but lets put a temper on our retarded elation.

I love Eli more than anyone else at the moment, but man you can't compare any of the current qb's to Cool Joe. The guy was simply the best there ever was.

The comparison for Eli should be made with Big Ben and Philip Rivers. Eli shits all over Rivers right now and is equal with Ben at the moment (IMHO). They both throw a few too many INTs at time, but at the same time they both have the balls to drive down the field at the end of the game. Both Eli and Ben led the only two teams to win a SB winning every game on the road.

I love exaggerations.

Joe's drive was flawless, Eli's was not. Joe is also a much better QB. But both came up huge in a ridiculously large moment.

Do we think this Spygate thing is really going to generate any outrage? I don't think Pats are alone when it comes to this. They just were caught.

They cheated and still loss. It's even more humiliating. It's like holding an ace up your sleeve to get Four of a Kind but still losing to a Royal Flush.

They were unable to cheat. Thats why they lost. If you remember the Eagles shut down their offense in the first half back in 2005. Lito suggested they must have stolen some signals because after half time every time we had a blitz on they ran a screen.

I miss the days of the Boston underdog.
See I'm not like that. I don't like the Yankees but I don't hate them. I still have fond memories having a glowing feeling seeing Boggs finally win one and ride around on the horse and the same deal going to Roger. I love seeing class acts (Jeter, Rivera, Matsui fit this perfectly)and former athletes I respect obtain what they have always desired. Ray Bourque stands out in my mind being the one athlete who came back with Stanley's Cup and shared his bliss with us afterwards singing a one day contract and retiring a Bruin.

But again hats off to the Giants. Giants are the traditional number two around here so many people I know are still celebrating.

Why do you keep saying last second and no time left? The Patriots had what, 34 seconds? I mean it was awesome and everything, but not how you are describing it. The Patriots had 3 time outs and 34(?) seconds and even got 4 plays off. It wasn't last second, but it was awesome.

Dunno if anyone caught this from Michael Silver's story on Yahoo:
"This was the death of a dynasty!" the veteran linebacker yelled over the roaring Giants fans who would not, could not leave. "We wore all black, and we killed it."

...

When the Giants' plane touched down in Phoenix six days before the game, they disembarked as a color-coordinated unit that would have made Johnny Cash proud. They wore black, Pierce finally confirmed after the game, because "that's what you wear to a funeral" – and, in their minds, the Pats' dynasty was about to die.

Breakdown:

Niners were down 3, got the ball back with 3:10 and had to drive 92 yards. They scored with 34 seconds left.

Giants were down 4, got the ball back with 2:42 and had to drive 83 yards. They scored with 35 seconds left.

Again, I'm not saying Eli is the in the same league as Joe Montana. I'm just noting the similarities between their final drives in two of the most impressive finishes I've ever seen.

I saw your post earlier as well, well said post. I still don't understand Pats hate, you and Strangelove seem like genuine sports fans that love their team. I have been around a ton of these treads all year and I almost never saw a pats fan act annoying, what I did see was half the board act like morons against the Pats (I talking about the people with no real reason to hate them).

You guys had a tremendous season, there is not one football fan that can say this season wasn't awesome, just because of the Pats. I am pretty sure the Pats will be fine and probably back at the SB next year.

we talking about 49ers v. Bengals part 2? It wasn't flawless. His one incompletion was a dropped interception. They never replay that though.

Actually, neither Joe's or Eli's game winning drives were with no time left. Ah, I see that was already addressed.

I'm convinced with the instantaneous hyperbole and crowning anyone who succeeds slightly as "THE GREATEST PLAYER EVER" that he is actually Sean Salisbury. perhaps if topsyturvy can provide a PM where Giggle sent her a picture of his penis it'll be confirmed.

To make what Eli did a touch more difficult, he didn't have the FG to fall back on in that situation.

Please try to understand us Giants fans at least. We hated the Pats because... well, they were our opponents. I said it two weeks ago after we beat Green Bay; I jumped onboard the Pats hate bandwagon with no hesitation. Nothing personal of course, just the way it is :)

Awesome, awesome game. It's so very, very sweet watching the Patriots lose. Especially since the majority of the "analysts" were discussing the game like the Patriots had won and were already 19-0.

Congrats to Wellington, Lefty, Striker and all other Giants fans. Good job on bringing the Lombardi trophy back to the NFC side too.

Word. Same here. Last night was the best present the Giants had ever given me: Brady on the turf over and over and Belijerk walking away with nothing.

It was bittersweet though--I rooted for the Giants but when I saw them come out for the intros I wished so bad it was Gang Green coming out that tunnel.

You really like to nitpick. Sorry if 34 seconds left isn't "last second" enough for you. Is "closing moments" good enough? The point was how little time the two teams had when they got the ball back. Pressure is pretty high with 3 minutes left in a Super Bowl.

well when NE won the Super Bowl with no time left, they made a big deal about it because it had never been done before. I think we were just confused about what you were getting at exactly.

Ah, sorry about that. That's very true. If Joe and Eli have a fault, it's that they just love seeing opposing QBs heave desperation passes. :D

BTW - What happens to that 19-0 book the Boston Globe was selling on Amazon last week?

Thinking back to yesterday's game, how many HB screens did the Pats call? Sure they ran a bunch of WR slip screens, but almost no HB screens which has been a staple in their offense for years. Whenever their O was out of sync, they would go to the screen and slow down the D. We saw none of that outside of the slip screen. The HB screen is their bread and butter, just ask Eagle fans.

I wonder if more teams are going to copy the Giants and try and employ 4+ athletic D-lineman AT ONCE who can rush the passer.

At times it seems like there is nothing the offense can do to stop that scheme.

I always wondered why more teams didn't do this and I assumed that it was two things:
1. Good D-lineman don't grow on trees (unless you live in the Meadowlands)
2. Fear that a big team would run all over them with a power game

Well, no one ran over the G-Men who were just as awesome stopping the run so I assume that it is number 1 that prevents more teams from attempting to fill their roster with guys like Tuck.

I have to admit I was envious of the Giants' pass rush for the last few months. Especially after watching the Steelers at doing anything on either line of scrimmage.

Good point. That excuse gets me out of speeding tickets every time. Great lesson for kids too.

I'm not saying it's not of any consequence, but the worst that could happen already has. Bill was fined already, they lost some picks, and they lost the SB in a colossal upset. No one is taking away their other SB victories or the records they set this year away from them. I guess karma was best punishment.

I didn't say anything when you first mentioned it, but when you repeatedly called it last second I chimed in only to save you from embarassment. I also bring it up because Mr. Cool and his Coach clearly were stunned and flummoxed and completely gut punched by the touchdown. Mr. Nothing Can Faze Me Brady went out there and threw some bombs when they had three time outs and 35 seconds to move 50 yards for an (outside) shot at tying the game. Instead they heaved it.

Had the Cheat and his crew been really unflappable, they would have at least tried to get into field goal range. Instead they gave up, checked out and the Cheat couldn't even stay til the end of the game.
