There's basically a weird type of civil war going on - The "Tucutes" verses the "Transcum":
- TUCUTE: A self-assigned term for a person who hasn't suffered from gender dysphoria, yet still calls themselves transgender anyway. They seem to think one's sense of gender is a fun choice they can change anytime at will. They simply believe that if someone says they are trans, they are trans- No medical diagnosis needed. They believe anyone who wants to take hormones to permanently change their body should have the right to do so. They also love to create brand new genders and pronouns that no one will ever take seriously. They make snap decisions on who is transphobic and ban them immediately, and they call people who believe that transsexualism is a medical condition Truscum.
- TRUSCUM: A term Tucutes apply to people who subscribe to transmedicalist ideology- That being transgender means that one has suffered at least some form of gender dysphoria and a sense of incongruence with their birth sex. Most people do not self-label as Truscum; rather they are quickly stamped as such and kicked out of certain online trans spaces such as within Tumblr or Reddit. They understand the reality that hormone replacement therapy is nothing to take lightly and dangerous to experiment with.
It's all basically just silly and unnecessary.

Hmm this sounds like that YouTuber Blaire White. She puts more focus on the medical side. Now I understand why she says many people in the Trans community hate her yet she is trans herself and has advocated for trans rights from my limited knowledge of her. Thanks for the reply though. That's exactly right! Blaire White, Rose of Dawn, Sophia Narwitz and many others are basically labeled as Truscum by those people...saying we are "true scum" I guess. We know the harsh reality of gender dysphoria, and would never wish it or the challenges of transition upon anyone. I actually consider my own condition a birth defect, so I'm sure they would hate me as well.

Well we love you here at Gaf! Sorry that is going on in the trans community right now. I think part of it has to do with the all inclusive umbrella of LBGTQ+, you are bound to have all kind of mixing ideologies and opinions. Labeling you as scum is pretty disheartening to hear. Tbh I can see the merits of the two sides. One feels like they are gate keeping due to a medial diagnosis and one feels like people are just grifting into the movement for social points. The name calling and toxicity is pretty disgusting though and should not be tolerated. I would just try not to spend much time there online. I think a lot of people are being fed up with the 30+ invention of pronouns a day and constant accusations of (insert phobia here) is really turning people off in general, even in their own communities.That's exactly right! See, this is baffling to me as well. Why do so many trans people change their name to one that is very similar to - if not even the opposite-gender version of - their original name?
I’d expect people who undergo such a radical change of identity to want to distance themselves from their old identity as much as possible.
Also, I’ve seen the argument that names aren’t intrinsically gendered (though they definitely are in many languages), so... why even change your name? If you truly believe that gender is a social construct and names aren’t gendered, then by changing your name, aren’t you conforming to the dictates of a gendered society?
There’s too many hoops to jump through here to make all of this remotely rational to me and not fundamentally pathological, sorry.

There was some discussion about these killings in REEE thread in here and it was/is in mostly 3rd world countries, so technically true, but really not applicable to countries where people are screetching about that. People get killed for a lot of reasons and I don't think that transfobia* is sole reason why someone got killed. However ridicule and bullying, that I can see easily.

Wow, I use to use that language in the same manner with some of my drinking buddies, then one of them literally came out of the closet and said that using that around him made him a little uneasy. So we refrained from using it as much.
We still use it once in a blue moon. But to use "N" word is kind of a big deal especially around my friends who are black. I use to joke too but it rubbed a couple of them the wrong way so I refrained.
In this context, though the person in question that used it was using it to it's desired effect. Because the person in question is gay regardless of the transition subject matter.
