Tesla drivers are up there with BMW and Audi drivers for being absolute wankers here in the UK. And Teslas in particular are too wide for our country roads.
My coworker drives a Tesla.

He parks in front of the office building and activates the fart mode everytime someone goes by.

He's on psycho meds.

Humanity isn't going anywhere near Mars or any other planet for a while yet. A lot of things still need to be done. Sooner or later he's going to have to realize some funds would be best spent for other important ventures here and now while the tides are relatively low..

His kids gonna be gazillionaires with asteroid mining, tho.

I still think it's hilarious that these wealthiest person lists only include people with publicly visible wealth, such as equity in companies they founded

Meanwhile estimates of the wealth of the Saudi royal family top $1 trillion but it's not in the media's agenda to ever report that
Of course, heard Putin before the war is the richest man alive.

Edited my post for clarity. For sure and that said, good on him! I think though you would need interstellar comms relays up for deep space mining? Unless quantum computing/telecommunication can handle it all, smh. Would be cool to be able to log in from here on Earth and mine some quadrant of an asteroid. The pay would probably be decent

But just think about how much richer he could be if he was smart like the average GAFer and knew how to run Twitter!
It would be funny if someone showed him the story of this and the purple site so he decided to buy it then close it while investing into this site and turning evillore into scrooge mcduck in the process. They’d be big mad.

That is very cool and all

But I am asking how do you personally manage that level of wealth. You would need a tree structure of financial managers ?

It is not as though you phone you local branch to check how the interest on the capital is doing
Guy like that has entire office of people who manage his wealth

There seems to be some confusion in this thread and online. Musk doesn't have this money in his bank. He can't spend 400bn. He is assist rich, not 400bn cash rich. Massive difference.
Way too many people everywhere really think he has a money bin that swims around like Scrooge McDuck don't they?

I get what you're saying, but have you seen how the government "works"? Look at NASA. One dude with a lot of money has a lot less bureaucracy to deal with and a lot less things standing in the way of actually getting something out the door. I'd like to see some of these things happen before I die.
He has mor3 than 15 years worth of NASA's budget in personal wealth.

Agreed, and SpaceX has a list of accomplishments that lines up with that money. That's my point. All the money removes the bureaucracy barrier and gets shit done.

And the two R families. And these are just the ones we know of.
Morpheus was wrong. Most people will never be ready to be unplugged.

Elon Musk in media appears as this solo guy.

A $400 Billion fortune, does he have a town of people working for him just managing that money?

If I had that cash, I'd be working on gene splicing, make furries real damn it.

... space exploration too. Just one seems more practical in a lifetime

It's a colossal systemic failure than anyone could be worth this much.

Net worth is a bit of a theoretical exercise.

He can't sell all his stock because it would crash the market, so it is somewhat "stuck" as an illiquid asset. Even if he could sell, the tax bill would be the biggest in the history of the world, so it wouldn't be worth doing.

Not to mention its all tied up in a semi-meme company that is not essential to the military, or really the overall economy, so it can be taken away with relative ease.

This is a colossal success by Musk. The colossal systemic failure is the debt countries have trapped themselves.

A classical case of good vs bad management.

It's gross, but if he sticks to his guns and invests it into his dreams rather than focusing on ROI, he'll be looked upon fondly by history books. Get us to mars!
