C'mon guys, stop pre-ordering from Play-Asia!
We're working on getting the webpage for it up on our website right now, actually. So you'll be able to buy it directly from us in a few days. Once it's ready we'll be making a post with more details about the game. For one thing, the translation is being handled by Active Gaming Media [AGM], the same company that worked on Demon's Souls and No More Heroes.
To quickly answer some of the major questions though:
1) Yes, it will be all-ages. We informed AGM how the visual novel audience feels about the removal of erotic content, but after discussing our advice with their client, they decided to make it all-ages in order to try and approach a wider market. (They've already submitted the game to the ESRB for review and a rating.)
2) As for the demo version currently available on their website--they have informed us that what is currently on the site is NOT the final version of the scripts. The scripts are currently still undergoing review and editing.

So All-Ages it is. And the translation in the demo isn't final.
J-List, why are you taking so long to ship out my copy of Saya no Uta?
It's been three days now.

The biggest worry I have with the game is also what I like about VNs. So. many. branching paths.
I really hope it doesn't take that long.Last time I ordered something from J-List that was listed as in stock, it took them two weeks to ship. Horrible site.
I honestly don't like 18+ content, so I won't miss it. I'd only tolerate it if it was really crucial to the story, which means almost never.
I really just don't like content being cut even if it's Nasu's horrible sex scenes.
Also, this can be a very interesting experiment, with the way they're handling this. If it goes well, I believe that this can open the path to more translated novels, even if most of those will come with its 18+ content cut.
Interesing... I don't see too many VNs like this translated and to be sold at retail (censorship included!) Am I wrong in saying this is a rare thing? Or am I just not well informed about the western market for VNs?Some info about If My Heart Had Wings from MangaGamer

ESRB rating came back for "If My Heart Had Wings" -- it's going to be T for Teen.
It's rare. And those who do sell VNs have found that censoring them is a bad idea because it reduces sales.Interesing... Anyways, this has now been put on my radar. Hopefully it's worth checking out.
That's probably true. It's kind of silly for them to not release both versions, but then, it's not too late for them to release it at a later, is it? H-Scenes aren't my cup of tea, but then, I haven't really had a cup before, so I wouldn't know for sure. My best guess is nope, though. It'd just get too awkward for me. :/According to this tweet:

Same here. I played Tsukihime with the patch that removed the H-scenes and i didn't miss them one bit.
That's an interesting website design.

I want to buy it so more keep on coming but I don't want it to be be all ages. D:

It's not censorship, saying something like that is stupid.
I usually refer to that kind of stuff as censorship. But I think the kind of censorship he had in mind was the kind where things are blurred out or blocked from view. How do you call the removal of content to get a lower rating? I call it censorship, but my English is what it is, maybe there's a better word to define it?
Technically it's only censorship if someone else forces them to take it out. This is just a business decision to cut content. How do you call the removal of content to get a lower rating? I call it censorship, but my English is what it is, maybe there's a better word to define it?
Thank you for your interest in our game. I am sorry to say that the game does not have any sex scenes. Explicit content has been removed, but original content still remain.
The game has been rated Teen and above by ESRB, and has been given a 12 rating by PEGI.
There are no visible body parts, by the game still possesses love content. There are kissing scenes and kissing sounds, but there is no actual animation showing that.
The player can use their imagination in beach scenes, bedroom scenes, and bathroom scenes. There are implied and hinted meanings, where the player can make use of their imagination. There are beach scenes and bathroom scenes where the female characters will sport bikini wear, and have their body covered by water, or by towels. There will also be scenes where the female characters will be scantily clad.
Thank you for supporting our game, I hope you will find our game interesting.
Kind Regards,
Moenovel support staff

Steam, really? It would explain why they are going these lengths to censor it.Please note that this code has to be redeemed through STEAM, we'll be sending out the code only & not in a game file!
Oh, didn't think about that. That seems likely to pop up, now that you mention it.... Ok, if they were gunning for Steam, then that explains a lot of things.
Also, not everything has to be bad, since the base game will be translated. There's nothing that a fan-patch can't fix, I guess.

I'd be surprised if somebody DIDN'T make the patch for the Japanese game. With all the people complaining about the censors or "edits" or whatever you want to call it, the only logical fix for ppl wanting their H-scenes is a patch. The CGs could probably be patched back in pretty easily. Or if they changed things enough, someone could rip out the script and patch it into the Japanese release. This seems to be getting enough attention that someone will probably try to do it.
Yo-Jin-Bo right? I had that game. Even then they ended up changing it from an M to a T. If VNs ever take off here, the localizers would probably do well to have an internal rating system for the PC versions.I'll have to check this game out (If My Heart Had Wings). I believe this is unusual as well because the last game to get a ESRB rating was one of Hirameki's games. And all ages, still checking it out. Was the sex REALLY needed? Or just added in because of established institutions deem it? And I'm not opposed to ero content, but if it serves no purpose....

Yeah, I believe that was their last game released! And they also had aspirations of making VNs mainstream, but alas...
I think English 18+ PC Eroge have an internal rating system. Obviously staying far away from the ESRB.
In this case, I think they should start looking to localizing some of the better generally T-M equivalent PS3, and PSP/Vita VNs that come out all the time. There's a larger market there, and as a person who uses a mac, I have to say, it would be a lot less hassle! Plus I'd like to see some Otome games over here, and it'll be a while before they start getting any eroge versions over here for whatever reason..It pretty much feeds my idea that they're working on getting these in stores somehow since I don't really see any other need for the ESRB to rate them.
5. No, we do not have plans to sell the game on Steam. We do not plan, nor did we try to get the game on Steam.
1. Yes, all sex scenes will be removed, and no new content wil be added. However, the game will still have a nice story, and the game will not have any awkward endings. Players who have not played the Japanese version of the game will be able to find the game interesting, and safe to play.
2. The kissing scenes will be altered so that it will not show any tongues or lips touching, but will show the back or side view of a couple kissing, as seen under the 'demo' section in the official homepage, link.
3. The wording has been changed so that there are no sexual jokes. There are, however, minimal slapstick humor scenes left behind.
4. Explicit scenes such as bathroom scenes will not show any obvious body parts, and will show characters in towels. Characters will also be covered by water in the bath. There will be no unnatural blocking of body parts, such as a blank-out of parts, or blocks covering body parts.
6. The DRM of the download version will depend on the download platform/ website that you have purchased the game from.
7. No, there are no plans to re-add sexual content. The 'SweetLovePatch' will left over from the original game. It was purely a mistake on our part and will not be included in the full version of the game.
8. There are no plans to revise the translation for the full game at the moment. A few parts might be altered in the full version but the script for the demo will not be updated.
9. It was decided by all departments to publish an all-ages version of the game.
10. The cut contents and the alteration of contents were both decided by Will and Pulltop.
#2 is weird. What is this, Disney Channel?
I don't get removing kissing and sexual jokes, but I guess they really wanted that T rating?
