I stopped watching as soon as the anime fell into the cliche of running from the police for no apparent reason other than to add needless tension and make the police think that he actually did commit murder. Why wouldn't he just stand there and be like "duh, I have blood on me because I went to see if the person was alive still". It's not like there was any motive either - at least if there was a highly incriminating motive it would make a bit more sense to run. Is the show really worth watching even with this horrible cliche?

Wait, so you stopped watching DURING episode 1?
Not even after he
goes back to being a child
, or even after the spectacular episodes 2 or 3?

I understand if you thought episode 5 was lacking (ham fisted), but pretty much every other episode ranges from good to amazing.

It was me, Dio!

This might be the first real cliffhanger of the series... :( I'm a bit disappointed that it was the teacher. It wasn't unexpected, but I kept telling myself that the show will surprise me, which it didn't. Still, I quite liked the reveal. Now only the motive remains.

It makes a bit more sense in the manga, but I know what you mean. In the manga when Satoru's arguing with his mum he breaks a window so the landlord knows they argued. Then after Sachiko is killed he has a revival going back to just before he finds her and he chases after the killer when he sees them in the landlord's garden. The landlord is standing at the window as Satoru runs past which gives the appearance of him running away from the scene.

I'm not really sure why they cut that out of the anime and instead just had him walk past the killer on the stairs.

Spoilers from today's episode (10)
Not really surprised, but I thought the episode was really well done. Although that may have been a result of me lowering my expectations. I was expecting Satoru's actions to eventually put him in the crosshairs and it did.
Question: Is there any way it wraps up in two episodes? I'm thinking about reading ahead now.

I'm disappointed as well. He was number 1 on my list and I was hoping I was wrong because it would be too predictable. However, I'm also having a hard time thinking who else would have had as much information as he did(on a daily basis no doubt), that could also be considered the killer. Kenya was a possible number 2 or 3 but his age and height were good reasons why he couldn't have been the killer.

Seriously, WTF, I literally screwed "WTF" in my cubicle during that scene. So he is going to die now.... seriously, "The Town Where Only I am Missing" literally means what I thought it was going to. Good job Satoru, you saved everyone, but yourself.... There is no real miracle way to save him, is there? Even though I'm really pissed, it was an excellent episode,.dammit...

Oh wow, I was chuckling the whole way through, but the cheesyness of the reveal and the murder attempt was so funny I completely lost it. Best comedy of the season? Sasuga SAO director, you did your job perfectly yet again.

Really though, if they already had a hideout, why go to the shady camper in the first place?

I'm really surprised the teacher didn't pull the "i'm freeing their soul" bullshit

Someone recut this series to be just the Kayo parts and it'd be a 9/10

I understand why they did it, but they skipped
Kayo's reunion and... well I'm watching this anime because I love Kayo, everything else is whatever.

Question: Is there any way it wraps up in two episodes? I'm thinking about reading ahead now.

The anime is about to start the manga's 32th chapter, out of 44 chapters. Considering the fact that the remaining chapters have 30+ pages, they won't fit in 2 anime episodes - unless, of course, it's rushed. It won't have the same effect in the end.

I'd suggest you reading ahead, so you get a better experience.

They actually skipped Kayo
reuniting with Satoru and gang
this episode.

Yeah. The author just a lot of respect from my part. The director could've also skipped the unnecessary obvious scenes.

It's not completely in-your-face obvious in the manga. Those unneccessary obvious scenes with the unneccessary obvious framings are actually anime-original for the most part (iirc).

At this point they're going to wrap this up in a complete package. Though, considering that pretty much all the plot-holes and logic loops were introduced by the anime, I'm not sure how satisfying it's going to be, so I'd say go for it.

Or they trim it so that the core is there and anything that's not necessary is left out. I think it's very much possible if they do that.

thats dumb. I'm perfectly content with her leaving being the ending.

She's the best character of the showt(even if Satoru's mom is fucking awesome too), anything with her has been glorious so far and it's clear that the director thinks the same, I get why they had to skip all of that but I'm still disappointed, this should have been a 20 episode anime at least.

But fine, I'd be okay with thinking that the anime ended with her smile. ;-;

Oh my god, from the half point in all I could do was scream streams of expletives. Oh my god, that was intense.

Well, I didn't think that the killer was
The teacher, but they handled that reveal really well.

That fucking seatbelt. Sataru was trapped from the moment he put that thing on. If I was in Sataru's position, While I'm sure he could have gotten out if his mind was perfectly clear, I'm not even sure if I would have even thought of using loosening the seatbelt so that I could slide out

I was waiting to read what you guys thought after today's episode.

I still insist that the ending wouldn't be rushed if the last episode lasted a little longer than a normal one. I seriously doubt there's going to be an Ending movie.

And about the conclusion of the story, I think I said it before but I don't like it.
The revival moments seemed to work for a greater purpose (to catch a very vicious killer), but in the end they just work to make Satoru less asshole than he was at the beginning of the series.

I thought today's episode was enjoyable '~'

I guess Satoru was more concerned with keeping girls alive than actually trying to solve the case, which lead to today's conclusion. I wonder what's going to happen from here. A revival within a revival?

And am I the only one getting Madoka Magica vibes

EVIL CLIFFHANGER.

There were many signs, but I was thinking they might have been red herrings.

I just can't believe I dismissed sensei as the perp, since he is a complete piece of shit and not a red herring character.... I feel betrayed; I wanted a best mom x sensei ship.

Smmhh

Fuck you sensei.

What if Airi's dad is the teacher?!

I just want more AIRI

I still want to know the Airi x Kayo link...

So him eating candy isn't because he stopped smoking, but it's to deal with the trauma the chocolate gave him.
He's slowly working his way through all sorts of sweets until he's able to confront the chocolate again and slaugher eat it to get his revenge!

It all makes sense.

For the viewer it may have been super obvious, and that's fine. I'm not sure the anime or manga was really focused on making it really hard to figure out who the the suspect could be.

But for the main character it did came as a shock, especially as the teacher himself put it that he was pretty much helping him foil his own plans. And with how helpful he had been toward him it was pretty easy to dismiss him as a possible suspect. Even though once he figured it out it made a lot of sense in hindsight.

About the escaping out of the car. He could have maybe struggled more. But I feel that the teacher would have easily knocked him out if he struggled too much. And thinking clearly when you're about to get killed I assume isn't easy either.

And once you're in ice cold water.. um yeah. Your limbs become numb and escaping becomes impossible.

Incredible episode. Most of us figured out it was teacher early on, but I didn't see Satoru becoming a victim. I don't know if he died, but if he did I'm interested to see how it continues. He'll probably get a rewind or something, unless Yashiro saves him only because he was shaken by what Satoru said at the end. His curiosity might get to him.

It's a non-issue that Satoru didn't put the pieces together. He's been so focused on other things and he really had no reason to suspect Yashiro. He just knew it wasn't Yuuki. Also, it shows how Yashiro always intended to frame Yuuki.

lol so much for me thinking it was a red herring. The reveal wasn't big for us but they played it VERY well with Satoru figuring it out. I loved that frame of the screen cracking when it hit him. Good episode.

The author did drop the ball on handling multiple suspects. He pretty much didn't even try. It's whatever tho, the way they end this be the ultimate question at this point. Also maybe it's more indepth in the manga but I would have liked if they did more time with all the suspects. Not just Kayo. Like i'm cool with her being out of the story right now because she's apparently "saved" but they didn't give themselves much room with handling the others.

Well, by involving Hiromi into the plans to save Kayo, Hiromi himself couldn't be targeted by the killer anymore (since he wasn't alone anymore). He actually mentioned that in this chapter. The part about saving the other girl definitively felt rushed.

This is the anime thread, why even post manga spoilers and tell people not to read?
Because there's no manga thread and I'm not the only one that has posted manga spoilers spoiler tagged. So that's why.

If you want manga spoilers you can read it. I'm telling people that don't want to be spoiled not to read it. As many people have done in this thread.

Honestly, I thought it was either the blonde haired kid or the teacher that was doing it. Or possibly both together. Glad I got it right then.

I need an anime division in Redlettermedia to review this. This show has gone downhill.

I'll finish it but man it should have ended with kayo and then timewarp back to the present

Wait, are you upset because it was the teacher?

I'm upset it was slapped to our faces the whole time that I was giving the author and director the benefit of the doubt thinking they couldn't be this obvious and they were. But not only that, the shit just isn't interesting after Kayo. I'm almost hoping there's a jump to the future soon I'm done with the past.

So is the teacher working with Juns father? Because it seemed weird that he randomly stopped in the road and looked in the mirror to see Satoru and the teacher drive past. Maybe Juns dad will save Satoru or something unless he gets another revival which I doubt.

I'm was more interested in the motivations and how Satoru would fare. They might have been focusing on that.

Satoru's "It was so obvious!" line though.

I don't think going with the obvious as the killer is the end of the world - at least in the sense that the only other option at this point would have been some random whothefuckareyou as the bad guy, and no one wants that kind of swerve - but the reveal could have been handled better, at least. That evil grin in the car was more amusing than anything.

This year's Parasyte.

Relatively strong start and it ended in a whimper.

Don't cry for me

I'm already Erased
Parasyte didn't drop the ball this hard and to be fair, it was 2 cour series. Boy, am I disappointed with this episode.

Team teacher wins. We all figured it out expect satoru.

The lien about owning multiple cars and his true form was kind of funny.

Guessing he will wake up in jail in 2006
