ESPN Videogames Announces Detroit Pistons 'Big' Ben Wallace as NBA 2K5 Cover Athlete

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 2004--

Two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Featured on Highest Rated(a) NBA Video Game

ESPN Videogames today announced that Ben Wallace, the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, will be featured as the ESPN NBA 2K5 cover athlete and spokesperson. The All-Star center helped drive the Pistons to win the 2003-2004 Finals.

"When it comes to selecting our cover athlete, it's all about finding a player that embodies the passion and commitment that we put forth in creating ESPN NBA 2K5," said Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts - makers of ESPN Videogames. "As we continue to deliver the highest rated NBA video game, Wallace's leadership and unbridled tenacity perfectly represents our brand."

"I've been a fan of ESPN Videogames for a long time," said Ben Wallace. "I have been in their television commercials for the past two years, so I was honored when they asked me to appear on the cover of ESPN NBA 2K5."

Supporting online game play for both Xbox(R) videogame system from Microsoft and PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, ESPN NBA 2K5 delivers intense hardwood action as court awareness and enhanced team movement have an integral role in the successful execution of plays. Pioneering a new standard in artificial intelligence and player motion, ESPN NBA 2K5 heightens the senses of the computer-controlled player with the exciting debut of Reactive Court Sense. This new technology allows players to independently react to opponent's actions, creating a more in-depth, natural response system that further blurs the line between virtual and real courts. ESPN NBA 2K5 will be available at retailers nationwide this October.

ESPN Videogames are produced by Visual Concepts, SEGA's sports studio, and are co-published and exclusively distributed by Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: TTWO).

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
The game looks awful this year. May pass on it for the first time.

Props to Big Ben! A player who was undrafted end up being the face of a videogame cover. Amazing.

undrafted and given up on by Washington... talk about going from the bottom to the top.

Heh, Washington gave up on Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton too. Pistons fans really do need to thank god for the Wizards/Bullets generosity (stupidity) over the last few years.

well, Rasheed was just hey we don't want to deal with him... which was lame, but their decision didn't look like a bad one after he had so much problems in Portland... but now of course, it looks bad.

And Hamilton wouldn't have been such a bad trade if Polin didn't sign Stackhouse to a huge extension... most of the reason Jordan acquired (or pushed to acquire) Stackhouse was for cap space the following year when he would be a free agent.

But Wallace, Washington sees something in him, develop him for a few years, shows a lot of promise but then gives up on him, for no real good reason.

Too bad Washington couldn't have given Webber to Detroit as well.

FEAR THE 'FRO!

A trade for Stojakovic may secure Ben and the boys 2 straight.
