Considering Nintendo has "All Rights, including the Copyrights of Game, Scenario, Music and Program, reserved by Nintendo" Lets speculate do you think they're just sit on the franchise. Or gonna milk the franchise on next gen? I hope we get sequels.

The last one was decent. Better than Resident Evil at least (excluding RE4). The stuff they did with the multiple characters throughout history was awesome.

I didn't really enjoy anything from the original except its story, but I wouldn't mind it being passed onto more 'capable' developers.

I never got round to playing the game and from what I heard the game was excellent, so its seems that I have missed out on something. Im not going to bother getting it because I have so many games on my shelf that are yet to be completed. As for ED2, Im unsure. The game didnt sell well, even though it was highly acclaimed by many websites and magazines. It also depends on who will develops the game. SK would be the best choice since they seem to have done such a good job with the first one, but it would probably take them years to make if Too Human is anything to go by.

I liked ED for the story, and the original stuff with the sanity bar etc that I hadn't seen before...But gameplay-wise it was nothing special. Fighting the same 5 enemies over and over again kinda sucked.

I loved it, and really really enjoyed the story. We just need Silicon Knights to focus on making some more intense fighting engine, not to overpromise on the magic spells, and make the sanity effects more scary than entertaining, and I think it'd be sweet.

One good idea someone on these boards had was to make the sanity meter invisible. It would make insanity effects seem much more suprising.

Considering how they're sitting on much more successful franchises, I don't think they're really going to take up championing ED on their own.

Though really, are we sure enough of the terms of Nintendo and SK's split to say they didn't work out an agreement that allowed Silicon Knights to take control of the series?

Not really, it sold 300,000 in the US, not bad for an original title, though not a big hit either of course.

Well I think the problem they always faced is that it wasn't just an orgiinal title that came out of nowhere (in which case we proabbly would already be playing ED2). They were working on it for like 5 years, and Denis Dyack certainly spent a fair amount of time hyping people up.

That would be great. Also, make the main character more than just a hub for the different levels. Running around an empty mansion for more pages is kind of interesting, but running around an RE-style mansion would be so much better.

I wouldn't be shocked to hear that Silicon Knights retained the rights to the series after the split much in the same way that Rare kept their own IPs. Nintendo has no real use for the Eternal Darkness franchise, it doesn't fit their philosophy.
